Queenie and John were playfully wrestling on the sofa when a voice echoed in John's mind.
"Little John... bless me..."
It wasn't Queenie's voice. She hadn't said a word.
It was Kate!
John immediately sat upright. "Queenie, something came up. I have to go."
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing. I just remembered—I was supposed to treat a patient today. It almost slipped my mind."
He didn't offer any more explanation. He didn't want Queenie to worry. Without another word, he mounted his motorcycle and sped off, leaving the Greenland Villa behind.
Once he hit the road, he closed his eyes. He focused.
