"Madam, why don't you call the police?" he asked.

The woman suddenly grabbed John's arm in horror. "He's a rascal! Every time he goes to a place, he makes friends with the local gangsters. He must be calling someone for help. Doctor Lopez, leave here right now! We can't drag you down."
As the woman spoke, she pushed John away, but he stood there, unmoved, like a statue.
The woman burst into tears. "Why are you so stubborn, Doctor Lopez? This is an unavoidable doom for me. But you have nothing to do with it. How can I get you into trouble?"
