Chapter 53: Danger in the Midnight
Back at Greenland Villa, John approached the entrance and noticed Alice standing against the doorframe. She had one long, slender leg stretched out, blocking his path. Her eyes gleamed mischievously as she addressed him, "Hum, John, where did you go when your sisters were swimming? Hmm?"
Before John could react, Alice rushed over, grabbed his clothes, and took a deep sniff. Her eyes narrowed, and she asked with sudden suspicion, "Why do you smell like a woman? Did you really go out for girls?"
John, feeling speechless, couldn't help but respond, "You three gorgeous women live at home. Can I not have the scent of women around me?"
Alice, however, wasn't convinced. "Lying! You don't smell like us. This is from another woman. If you don't tell me the truth, I'll lynch you," she warned, her playful tone tinged with a hint of seriousness.
John was utterly floored. Alice had really gone from rummaging through his trash to now having some sort of sixth sense about the women he encountered.
"All right, I'll explain," he relented.
He reluctantly told her about his blind date, which instantly piqued the curiosity of not only Alice but also Tracy, who was nearby.
Tracy, with an unusually curious and slightly nervous expression, asked, "Little brother, do you like the girl you met? Was she good-looking?"
There was a slight awkwardness in Tracy's voice, as if she was secretly hoping for a particular answer, but also afraid of it. Her contradictory feelings were evident in the way she asked the question.
