Faced with a barrage of demanding questions from Nino, Ren merely let out a soft sigh. He had no desire to get into an argument, especially with his sister-in-law who had clearly disliked him from the start.
He was too lazy to answer. Instead, Ren gently stroked Itsuki's head in his embrace.
"Relax... everything's fine. I'm here."
The soft vibration of his voice seemed like a soothing incantation. Itsuki's breathing slowed, her fingers gripping Ren's shirt a little tighter. For a moment, the world felt like it belonged only to the two of them.
Once her emotions subsided, Itsuki realized how intimate her actions were, and in front of her sisters no less. Her cheeks flushed, and she quickly pulled away from Ren's embrace.
To divert attention, Itsuki stared at the floor, where the four men still lay unconscious.
"Hubby... what should we do with them?"
"Leave them to me." Ren replied vaguely, not elaborating on the fate that awaited the four members of the Twin Horn Syndicate.
Itsuki was smart enough to understand his implied meaning. She didn't need to know more than that.
However, Ren's indifference towards her ignited Nino's anger, who had felt ignored since earlier.
