Chapter 11: Hime-Miko Receives a Prophecy
Hime-Miko.
They are women descended from the Divine Ancestor, the former Earth Mother Goddess. They hold a high status in Japanese Mage Association and are blessed with various innate abilities that ordinary people cannot learn.
These abilities include Spirit Vision, which allows them to access the Void Memories in the Netherworld, granting them insights into the past and, indirectly, predictions of the future. Additionally, they possess powers such as Telekinesis, Spirit Sensing, Disaster Purification, and Future Prophecy (Divination).
That afternoon, in the temple courtyard bathed in the light of the setting sun, a high school girl named Mariya Yuri was calmly sweeping. Her uniform skirt fluttered slightly in the evening breeze, and the soft sound of her broom blended with the distant chirping of birds. Yuri was one of the Hime-Miko with the strongest Spirit Vision, although she was still learning to control her abilities.
Suddenly, her eyes widened. The world around her shook as her Spirit Vision activated without warning. In an instant, she caught a glimpse of the future—a vague silhouette of an archer from the Mainland searching for a trapped monkey, and a young man claiming the throne of a new supreme ruler.
The vision was so intense that her head throbbed sharply. Dizziness struck her, and her body staggered, nearly collapsing to the ground.
"Yuri-san!" Another miko rushed to catch her before she fell completely. "What happened to you?"
"Haah... Haah..."
Yuri struggled to catch her breath. Her face was pale, and cold sweat dripped from her temples. In a weak voice, she described the vision she had seen. Her words were fragmented, her interpretation difficult to grasp, but the anxiety implied within them was palpable.
"Contact... the History Compilation Committee..." Yuri whispered, her hand gripping the arm of the miko holding her. "They must know... a Devil King will be born in Japan."
"A Devil King?!"
