Chapter 46: Not Allowed on the Bed
Ouyang Qing received far better treatment at the Gu Family’s place than Gu Fuqiao did by countless times; naturally, she wouldn’t know how to cook.
Seeing a huge mess burnt at the bottom of the pot, Ouyanqing’s eyebrows furrowed so much they almost met, and her face was full of disdain. "I should have just let Gu Fuqiao come over on her own. Why am I doing all this? But Gu Fuqiao probably doesn’t know how to cook either, right? If I don’t act a bit more domestic, how am I supposed to win Yan Zhen Guo over from her hands?"
Just as she was speaking, the front door suddenly opened. She thought it was Gu Fuqiao returning, but turning around, she saw that it was Yan Zhen Guo who had come back.
"Brother-in-law, you’re back?" Facing Yan Zhen Guo, Ouyang Qing hurriedly picked up the spatula that she had tossed aside, pretending to be diligently cooking as she walked over to him.
Yan Zhen Guo gave her a cursory glance and seeing her like this, he directly raised his eyes and asked, "Where is your sister?"
"Ah." Although Ouyang Qing was standing in the kitchen, she had meticulously applied makeup. She had hoped Yan Zhen Guo would spare her an extra glance but hadn’t expected his first words to be directly about Gu Fuqiao.
Reluctantly, she replied, "Sister said she was worried there wouldn’t be enough food, so she went to the cafeteria to get some."
"So you’re cooking." Yan Zhen Guo didn’t ask further, reaching out to take the spatula from Ouyang Qing, saying, "Let me do it."
Ouyang Qing widened her eyes; just as joy filled her heart, she heard Yan Zhen Guo add, "You’re rarely visiting; I can’t let you do these things."
The implication being, she was merely a guest.
When Gu Fuqiao returned to the family residence with the dishes, the entire hallway was filled with the aroma of food. Gu Fuqiao thought, her house was probably filled with the smell of burnt food!
