Chapter 82: Please Send Nudes (For Registration Purposes)
Max had absolutely no idea he’d just been promoted to "probably insane" in yet another person’s mental list of acquaintances.
Unfortunately for his reputation, the timing couldn’t have been worse.
He’d simply been too busy staring at the system notifications that had suddenly appeared in front of him, grinning at empty air like someone who’d just received excellent news from an invisible friend.
[Potential Target Contract Information acquired by Host.]
[Scanning Contract Information...]
...
[Scan Complete.]
[Potential Target]
[Name: Yennefer
Registration Status: Unregistered
Corruption Potential: High]
[A Registration Act has been generated.]
[Complete the Registration Act to establish a System Contract with the candidate.]
[View Registration Act?]
[► Yes]
[► No]
Of course, Max pressed "Yes."
There wasn’t even a moment of hesitation.
As far as Max was concerned, declining free Forbidden Points ranked somewhere between voluntarily paying extra taxes and deleting your own save file.
Almost immediately, another notification appeared.
[The host may perform this act with other registered targets.]
Max’s eyes lit up.
[Forbidden Act: Entry toll]
[Target: Yennefer]
[Objective:
Obtain a photograph of the target’s breats taken by the target herself and have it sent directly to the Host through a personal messaging service. Images acquired through, third parties, screenshots, or unauthorized access will not satisfy the Registration Requirement.]
[Reward: 200 Forbidden Points]
[Time Limit:
24 Hours]
[System Note:
This is a Registration Act.
Registration Acts are generated only once for each Potential Target. Upon successful completion, the target will be permanently registered as an official System Target and become eligible for future Forbidden Acts. The Host may also earn Forbidden Points by obtaining additional qualifying images from already registered targets during the act. However, no rewards will be granted if the required image matches that target’s original Registration Requirement or if Forbidden Points have already been awarded for that specific image category.]
[Failure Conditions:
The Registration Requirement is not fulfilled before the time limit expires.
The image is not sent by the target.]
[Failure Punishment:
The Registration Contract will be permanently voided. The candidate will forever lose their eligibility to become an official System Target. The Host will never again be able to register this candidate.]
Like the last one, this act was fairly long, so Max skimmed through it as quickly as he could without missing any important details.
Compared to some of the system’s previous masterpieces, this one was surprisingly restrained.
Relatively speaking, anyway.
It was still ridiculous.
Just... less aggressively so.
Max found himself grinning as he reached the end.
It actually looked fun.
More importantly...
He’d never received nudes from anyone before.
The thought alone made him feel oddly excited. For a brief moment, he was seriously tempted to message Yennefer right then and there.
Even Max knew those kinds of messages worked better at night.
There was no point rushing good timing.
After saving Yennefer’s number, he put the phone away and headed toward the army outpost to deliver the potions.
Naturally, civilians weren’t allowed inside the military camp itself. Instead, all licensed potion deliveries were handled through a separate building outside the main gates.
Handing over the laboratory license, Max completed the paperwork without any trouble.
The entire process took less than half an hour.
After buying a few other necessities around town, he finally made his way back home.
Technically, Max could’ve brewed another batch of potions.
Despite what he’d told Zerena, brewing didn’t actually consume Forbidden Points.
Only mana.
As long as he had enough mana left, he could keep making potions until he dropped from exhaustion.
The real problem wasn’t brewing them.
It was explaining where the Forbidden Points had supposedly come from.
Producing another batch without spending any "system points" would only invite awkward questions later, and Max had already lied enough recently to know that piling one lie on top of another was how people accidentally ended up exposing themselves.
So, for once, he chose the safer option.
Absolutely nothing.
He spent the next few hours lazing around the house, flipping through rune books while pretending to study. Every now and then he’d read an interesting page.
The rest of the time...
He mostly admired how confidently old rune scholars could spend three entire paragraphs explaining something that probably could’ve fit into a single sentence.
Before he realized it, the sun had already begun sinking toward the horizon.
Max looked out the window.
"...Wasn’t she supposed to be back around noon?" he muttered.
Pulling out his phone, he called Zerena.
Before Max could even ask why she still hadn’t come home, Zerena answered the call sounding unusually busy.
"Don’t wait for me. I’ll be back tomorrow. Something came up."
And before he could ask what that "something" actually was...
The call ended.
Max stared at the screen for a few seconds.
"...What a heartless woman."
He let out a sigh and slipped the phone back into his pocket.
She’d somehow turned a phone call into a public announcement.
Questions, apparently, had not been included in the service.
Since it was still only early evening, Max headed into town, grabbed himself a late lunch, then picked up something for dinner on the way back.
By the time he’d eaten, cleaned up, and wandered around the house for a while, night had quietly settled in.
Max glanced at the clock.
Judging by the time, Zerena would usually be getting sleepy around now.
Yennefer looked about the same age.
Hopefully, her bedtime schedule wasn’t too different.
Taking out his phone, Max opened her contact and typed a short message.
’Hey. Still up?’
The reply came surprisingly quickly.
’Yeah. Is this you? Zerena’s grandson?’
A smile spread across Max’s face.
It felt oddly satisfying.
For once, he was chatting with an actual woman instead of wondering whether the account belonged to a forty-year-old scammer or an automated bot trying to sell him something he’d never asked for.
He typed back.
’Why? Couldn’t sleep?’
Max let out a quiet chuckle.
He was fairly confident she wouldn’t appreciate the question.
Sure enough...
His phone began ringing almost immediately.
The moment he answered, Yennefer’s annoyed voice came through the speaker.
"Why are you asking stupid questions?"
Max couldn’t help smiling.
’Called it.’
"I was just making a little conversation before getting to the point," he replied, sounding far too amused.
Yennefer narrowed her eyes on the other end of the line.
Even without seeing him, she could practically hear the grin in his voice.
Which only made her more annoyed.
"Then skip the conversation," she said flatly. "And get to the point."
Max paused for just long enough to make her wonder if he’d disconnected.
Then he smiled.
"Well... you’re right."
"We do have someone making the potions."
