Sun Chan’s hair no longer carries the large braid typical of rural origins; now it’s cut into a ponytail, bangs swept up, revealing a smooth forehead and bright eyes. She wears a white shirt and gray pants, the standard uniform issued by her workplace. Despite its simplicity, the outfit accentuates her graceful appearance.
"Really?" Sun Chan said with a smile, "I actually feel I’ve gained a bit of weight."
"You’re not fat at all, you should eat more."
Sun Chan pressed her lips into a smile. Gu Junming looked at her rosy lips, coughed a few times, and glanced out the window.
Suddenly, Sun Chan remembered, "Didn’t they say we were going to have a gathering between our side and your troop? Why didn’t Commander Gu go?"
"Hmm, I have a mission."
Sun Chan recalled he had mentioned it earlier, and smiled apologetically.
From the side, Xiao Wu chuckled, "He’s no longer a commander. He’s now the Deputy Battalion Commander!"
Sun Chan quickly smiled and said, "That’s good news! Being Deputy Battalion Commander must be quite a big position, right?"
Xiao Wu turned the steering wheel, smiling but saying nothing.
Gu Junming said, "Not really that big. Everyone I came out with has basically moved up already; I’m the last one. My abilities aren’t very great actually."
