I Tame Beasts by Feeding

Countless ghostly figures flickered among the menacing Ghost Trees. The trees’ branches transformed into pitch-black tentacles, weaving a dense web from all directions to ensnare the group. In the surging shadows, Evil Ghosts materialized one after another. Their scarlet eyes stared at the humans as a viscous liquid—be it saliva or blood—dripped unceasingly from the corners of their mouths.

"Flesh and blood... living flesh and blood... delicious..."

The low, savage growls echoed hoarsely, sending a chill down the spine. Their vicious nature was on full display.

At this sight, Li Minghan braced for battle. With a wave of his sleeve, he summoned his Red Mountain Sub-Dragon to his side and moved closer to the others. Meanwhile, a soaring battle intent ignited in Zhang Tianwen’s eyes. He sat astride his Thunder-controlling Spirit Tiger, radiating an aura of supremacy as arcs of lightning flickered around it. Shen Xingchen, for her part, remained perfectly calm, showing no sign of alarm.

Yu Changsheng chuckled softly, eyeing the monsters that had encircled them. The Red Purgatory Dragon materialized, coiling protectively around him.

"All of these things are worth Evil Qi Points. A perfect chance to stretch my limbs."

Yu Changsheng chuckled. His voice had barely faded when he shot forward. His speed was almost imperceptible, leaving only a trail of afterimages in his wake. A tremendous aura suppressed the very air around him as a vast sheet of flame erupted from beneath his feet, spreading rapidly outward.

The flames clung to the tentacles like maggots on a corpse, swiftly engulfing the surrounding Ghost Trees. Instantly, a cacophony of wretched wails filled the air, a scene of demonic pandemonium.

The Red Purgatory Dragon whipped its tail, plumes of dark red fire erupting all over its body. It opened its massive jaws and charged at the Evil Ghosts on the ground, powerful and unstoppable.

The Red Mountain Sub-Dragon coordinated with them as well, and together they quickly cleared a large patch of ground. An opening was instantly torn in the blockade formed by the Ghost Trees.

Zhang Tianwen and Li Minghan, not to be outdone, struck at the same time. In a flash of brilliant Sword Light and crackling Thunderbolts, they swiftly cleared another wide patch of ground.

"WAAAAAIL..."

One Ghost Tree after another snapped and was consumed by the flames, turning to ash. In the Sea of Fire, the Evil Ghosts struggled, their bodies charred black, but they ultimately could not escape their doom.

For a time, the group’s momentum was unstoppable. Coordinating their attacks, they pushed continuously deeper into the jungle as towering flames surged and danced, illuminating the world around them.

The first level of the Celestial Slaughter Secret Realm might be dangerous for the average person, but for this group, it was relatively safe as long as they didn’t go looking for trouble.

Coupled with an unlimited supply of Elixirs from Yu Changsheng to solve any Magical Power consumption issues, the group became even more unrestrained. The commotion they caused in the jungle was staggering, filling the sky with the light of fire.

’Which powerhouses are these...? With fluctuations like that, they must be at the Golden Core realm.’

Far away, other groups began to notice the commotion. Their expressions turned grim. After a single glance from afar, they chose not to approach recklessly and departed, keeping their distance.

As they ventured deeper and their Evil Qi Points steadily increased, the group made other discoveries as well.

Take, for instance, what they found just now. Beneath an inconspicuous rock, six flowers bloomed in the wind. They were as crimson as blood, with nine-lobed petals and six blackish-red leaves, and they radiated a vaporous black Evil Qi.

The flower was bizarre. Bathed in the Black Qi, it looked demonic. Its overlapping petals formed the likeness of a ghastly face, exuding a sinister and ominous aura.

"An Evil Jade Demon Flower?"

Yu Changsheng stepped forward and carefully plucked one of the Evil Jade Demon Flowers. A look of delight crossed his face. After a moment’s thought, he gently picked off a leaf, placed it in his mouth, and slowly swallowed.

It was bitter at first, but as it dissolved, a refreshing fragrance emerged.

"The taste isn’t half bad."

Yu Changsheng muttered to himself. The energy from the Evil Jade Demon Flower flowed through his limbs and torso, and a cooling sensation washed over his Divine Soul. His physical body also felt subtly enhanced.

Yu Changsheng pondered for a moment, then turned to the Red Purgatory Dragon and asked.

"You want to eat this?"

RUMBLE.

The Red Purgatory Dragon nodded lightly. Was that excitement in its eyes?

Yu Changsheng glanced at the Red Purgatory Dragon, and after a moment’s thought, fed the rest of the Evil Jade Demon Flower to it.

The Red Purgatory Dragon raised its head and, in a single breath, completely swallowed the Evil Jade Demon Flower. A faint red glow flickered across its body. The dense Evil Qi within the flower was completely absorbed, melting away like snow in the sun.

Instead, an almost imperceptible hint of black appeared within the flames on its body, but the change was too subtle to be seen.

[One Evil Jade Demon Flower consumed. Successfully fed to Red Purgatory Dragon. You have gained 10,000 Essence Points! Red Purgatory Dragon has received an all-around enhancement!]

The system prompt echoed in his mind. Yu Changsheng froze, his thoughts reeling in surprise.

"This..."

Yu Changsheng’s brows furrowed, his breath quickening. As he looked at the Red Purgatory Dragon, he could feel that the bottleneck preventing its breakthrough to Tier Three had loosened somewhat.

The Red Purgatory Dragon let out an excited rumble and affectionately nuzzled Yu Changsheng’s palm.

"It seems your opportunity to break through to Tier Three is right here."

Yu Changsheng patted the Red Purgatory Dragon’s head with a chuckle. He looked down at the five remaining Evil Jade Demon Flowers, then turned to Li Minghan and the others and said:

"Here, one for each of you. Eat the Evil Jade Demon Flower one piece at a time and refine its energy. It can strengthen your Physique and increase your resistance to Evil Qi."

"But be warned, the Evil Qi it contains is very dense. One flower per person should be the limit. Any more will damage your internal organs."

Yu Changsheng was being perfectly sincere. Even though the Red Purgatory Dragon needed the Evil Jade Demon Flowers, he could spare these few. The Celestial Slaughter Secret Realm was vast; there were bound to be more.

"Alright."
