Chapter 403 - 309: The Grand Scheme (Part 2)
Ultimately, after buying a good amount of Spirit Grass and Spiritual Medicine, he returned to the Yuelai Inn as evening approached.
By now, night had fallen. Inside the spacious inn, countless lanterns had been lit one after another, hanging in dense clusters and casting a brilliant glow in all directions.
Compared to when Yu Changsheng left, the inn was now much more lively. Clearly, many more guests had arrived in his absence.
As he walked into the main hall, the scene within immediately captured Yu Changsheng’s attention.
It was now dinnertime. Although Cultivators no longer needed to eat and had almost lost the concept of hunger, the Yuelai Inn, as the largest inn in Celestial Killer City, was chosen by the various sects as a temporary residence for a reason. It naturally had its own unique charms.
This included the food served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. None of it was ordinary; it was all Spiritual Food and Spirit Wine. Not only were these meals valuable and a feast for the senses, but consuming them could also help advance one’s Cultivation.
Therefore, the hall was quite crowded at the moment. Table after table was laden with food, and there wasn’t an empty seat in the house.
"It’s certainly lively. Looks like quite a few more disciples have arrived."
Yu Changsheng muttered to himself, glanced at the packed hall, and shook his head, not particularly interested.
"Changsheng, over here! Come on."
Just as Yu Changsheng was about to head back to his room, he heard a shout. He turned to see Li Minghan waving at him with a broad smile from a table near the central stage. The call had come from him.
Yu Changsheng paused, then walked toward Li Minghan.
Besides Li Minghan, Shen Xingchen and Zhang Tianwen were also there. Including Yu Changsheng, the four of them perfectly filled the table.
’We have enough for a game of mahjong.’
Yu Changsheng muttered this inwardly and shook his head as he sat down. The table was already laden with steaming, fragrant dishes. Just a single whiff was enough to whet his appetite.
"You’re back? Where’d you go just now?"
Li Minghan passed a bowl and chopsticks to Yu Changsheng, asking with a sly grin.
"Nothing much, just took a stroll around Celestial Killer City. I made a few finds, but I’ll tell you guys the details later."
Yu Changsheng gave a slight smile and a nod, then glanced around, a hint of confusion on his face.
"Even if the food at Yuelai Inn is amazing, that can’t be the only reason so many people are here, right? And judging by their clothes, they’re all from the Six Sects?"
Yu Changsheng had some knowledge of the unique sect attire of the Three Gates and Six Sects. Looking at the colorful array of outfits and sensing the different Cultivation levels around him, he had a rough idea of who they were.
"Yep, pretty much." Li Minghan followed Yu Changsheng’s gaze and explained, "Right now, of the Six Sects, everyone from the other five has more or less arrived. Only the Tyrant Emperor Sect still needs some time since they have the farthest to travel."
"As for the Purple Rainbow Sect and the Seven Stars Sect, their sects have their own strongholds in Celestial Killer City, so of course, they don’t need to stay at an inn like us."
"I see," Yu Changsheng said, enlightened. He then just shook his head with a smile, picked up a piece of food from the table, took a bite, and swallowed it with his eyes closed in enjoyment.
"This really is delicious."
Yu Changsheng remarked with appreciation.
"Don’t be in such a hurry to eat. There’s a special performance later."
Seeing that Yu Changsheng had already started eating, Li Minghan tapped his hand, waggled his eyebrows at him, and chuckled slyly.
"Special performance?" Yu Changsheng was taken aback. He looked at Li Minghan’s expression and asked curiously, "What is it?"
"Hehe," Li Minghan winked, swallowed, and his eyes darted around, an inexplicably sleazy aura emanating from him.
Zhang Tianwen and Shen Xingchen, who were sitting nearby, immediately shot him a look of disdain. Zhang Tianwen gently raised a cup of wine, took a sip, smacked his lips, and after a moment of thought, said:
"It’s like this. The Three Gates and Six Sects of the Martial Continent rarely have an opportunity to gather like this. So, to liven things up, the No-Mind Sect—the one with the most female disciples among the Six Sects—has decided to put on a musical performance for everyone. It’s also a way for them to showcase the unique style of their sect."
As Zhang Tianwen spoke, Li Minghan chimed in from the side:
"That’s right. The Cultivators of the No-Mind Sect basically specialize in the way of Sound Law Divine Sense. Not only do they have the most female disciples, but every single one of them is also stunningly beautiful and talented—true paragons of both looks and skill. It’s just that this sect’s disciples are usually very low-key and rarely make public appearances."
"To be able to take this opportunity to gaze upon their beautiful faces, to appreciate their beauty while drinking wine—wine and song, what could be better? This is why so many people are waiting here. They’re all waiting for the people from the No-Mind Sect to appear!"
Listening to their explanations, Yu Changsheng finally understood. He glanced at the foolishly grinning Li Minghan and the ever-composed Shen Xingchen, shaking his head and muttering inwardly.
’So even the Cultivation Realm is full of a bunch of pervs these days.’
With that thought, Yu Changsheng’s expression became even more natural. He sat up straight in his chair and calmly continued eating.
"But I heard that this time, Jing Xueyi of the No-Mind Sect will be appearing too," Li Minghan said in a low, conspiratorial mumble, looking at Yu Changsheng.
"This Jing Xueyi... her Cultivation might not be number one in the No-Mind Sect, but her beauty is said to be unparalleled, truly one of a kind. I for one want to see if the rumors are really that exaggerated."
Li Minghan laughed heartily, his eyes gleaming. He was clearly very interested in this Jing Xueyi.
"Mm," Yu Changsheng nodded faintly, offering no comment. He simply exchanged a glance with Zhang Tianwen, and they both shook their heads with a smile.
Just as the four of them were enjoying their drinks and conversation, a group of uninvited guests suddenly walked up to their table.
"Fellow Daoists, could I trouble you to give up this table? We’ve already booked it in advance."
The voice was deep and resonant. The tone was nonchalant, but it carried an unquestionable, domineering certainty, as if his words were an undeniable fact that could not be resisted.
"Hm?"
The hand with which Yu Changsheng was holding his wine cup froze. He set the cup down, frowning as he turned to look at the four newcomers.
Before him stood four young Cultivators. The one who had spoken was at the front, a young man with a haughty expression and a faint air of arrogance about him. He had sharp, sword-like eyebrows and bright, star-like eyes. His form-fitting, light blue robe was embroidered with faint gold patterns, exuding an air of nobility. A milky-white jade belt was fastened at his waist. Combined with his handsome face, his presence was enough to make others feel inferior.
"Fellow Daoist, I’ll say it again. We booked this table in advance. Please move to another one, alright?"
Seeing that Yu Changsheng and his friends remained unmoved, the young Cultivator smiled faintly and spoke again. His voice was gentle, yet it held an undeniable command.
The commotion here also attracted the attention of the surrounding people. One by one, they turned their heads, watching the scene with great interest, whispering and discussing amongst themselves.
"That’s Zhang Chengming! He’s one of the top ten disciples in the Cang Lei Sect. Although he’s only at the Foundation Establishment Seventh-Layer Spirit Platform, with his powerful physical body and masterful Thunder Skill, he’s basically pushed the Foundation Establishment Realm to its limits. His actual combat strength is already at the Foundation Establishment Peak, and he has few rivals within the Cang Lei Sect."
"To think they’ve been targeted by Zhang Chengming... they should just obediently give up their seats. Otherwise, with Zhang Chengming’s strength, he doesn’t know how to hold back. If a conflict really breaks out, I’m afraid that guy will lose his qualification for the Celestial Slaughter Secret Realm before it even opens."
"Then again, it’s their own fault. If you don’t have the strength, you shouldn’t have rashly taken the central seat at the edge of the stage. That’s the closest spot to the No-Mind Sect’s performance, the best place to get a clear view of Jing Xueyi’s beautiful face. Everyone knows that plenty of geniuses among the Six Sects are interested in her."
