I Tame Beasts by Feeding

Gongsun Yang looked at Yu Changsheng, his face filled with gratification.

"The Grand Master has treated me well, but you have been just as kind, Master," Yu Changsheng said with a slight nod.

"I’m different. I can’t help you much with your cultivation. I’m more curious about your alchemy. Have you been slacking? How much have you improved? Have your techniques grown rusty?"

Gongsun Yang shook his head and chuckled, watching Yu Changsheng with a measuring gaze.

"Of course not," Yu Changsheng mumbled. ’It’s true I haven’t practiced alchemy in a while, but I’m not that rusty.’

After the two chatted for a while, Yu Changsheng’s expression turned serious as he stated the purpose of his visit.

"Master, I wanted to ask... are there any special elixirs for stabilizing a Spirit Beast’s bloodline?"

"Stabilize a bloodline?" Gongsun Yang was taken aback. He glanced at Yu Changsheng, then looked down, lost in thought. After a moment, he slowly raised his head and said:

"There are quite a few, actually. But since you’re the one asking, this must be about your Guardian Beast. As for elixirs suitable for a Second-stage Guardian Beast, there is one that fits your requirements."

"Please tell me, Master." Yu Changsheng’s spirits lifted as he looked at Gongsun Yang with anticipation.

Not one to keep him in suspense, Gongsun Yang stroked his beard, his lips moving as he slowly uttered the name: "The Blood Nourishing and Dao Nurturing Pill."

"The Blood Nourishing and... Dao-what Pill?" Yu Changsheng mumbled. He had never heard of it.

"That’s right. It’s a Third Grade elixir. Its primary function is to nurture and stabilize a Spirit Beast’s bloodline. It also has the added effect of strengthening the Divine Soul, making it one of the rare elixirs that fits your needs."

Gongsun Yang nodded and began to speak, but then sighed with a look of regret. "Unfortunately, this type of elixir is rather obscure. I’ve only heard of it; I don’t have the actual Pill Formula. Otherwise, I would have refined one for you."

"That’s alright. Having a lead is better than nothing. I won’t trouble you, Master."

Yu Changsheng shook his head, offering Gongsun Yang a small smile as he spoke softly.

"If you need it that urgently, there might be another way," Gongsun Yang said after a moment’s thought, letting out a deep breath.

"I may not have this elixir, but a friend of mine does. He’s the Wanxiang Sect’s chief alchemist, Yang Tianyi."

"He should have it in his collection. However, he’s a man of great prestige. Even I can’t guarantee he’ll agree to the request. I’ll explain the situation to him, but if he has any other demands, you’ll have to handle them yourself."

Gongsun Yang said slowly, his brow furrowed in thought.

’Yang Tianyi...’

Yu Changsheng mumbled the name. He had certainly heard it before.

As the one and only Tier Four Alchemist in the Wanxiang Sect, his reputation was immense, and he was naturally admired by all the disciples. However, the man rarely made public appearances, so Yu Changsheng had never actually seen him in person.

He was also an Inner Sect Elder of the Wanxiang Sect, a position of lofty status. He certainly wouldn’t refine elixirs for regular disciples; the ones he crafted were supplied directly to figures on the level of a Peak Master.

For anyone else to request his services, the price was exorbitant, and there were other requirements, not to mention the need for a personal introduction.

"Then I’ll have to trouble you to make an introduction for me, Master," Yu Changsheng said softly to Gongsun Yang, his mind racing with these thoughts.

"As for the details, we’ll see whether or not it works out when we get there."

"It’s fine. There’s no time to lose. His residence is in a corner at the very summit of Jade Cauldron Peak. I’ll take you there now."

Gongsun Yang smiled, took out his Communication Jade Tube, and spoke a few words into it. After receiving a reply, he led Yu Changsheng toward the summit.

Before long, they arrived at a remote corner of the Jade Cauldron Peak summit. Mist and clouds swirled around a pavilion, partially concealing it from view.

Ripples of energy from an Array pulsed outward. After identifying the two visitors, a curtain of light shimmered, the mists parted, and the pavilion came into clear view.

"Yang Zhong! It’s me, Junior Brother Gongsun."

Standing outside the pavilion with Yu Changsheng, Gongsun Yang announced their presence. The main doors slowly swung open, and a tall, slender figure emerged.

The man appeared to be middle-aged, dressed in a simple white Daoist Robe. His long hair fell freely over his shoulders, and he carried an air of scholarly refinement. He wore a gentle smile, and as he approached, a faint Pill Fragrance wafted from him.

’A Golden Core expert...’

Yu Changsheng’s pupils contracted as he sensed the man’s concealed yet potent aura. He quickly lowered his head in a respectful bow.

"Disciple Yu Changsheng greets Elder Yang."

"No need for formalities. A disciple that Junior Brother Gongsun is so proud of must be truly extraordinary."

Yang Tianyi smiled faintly. His expression was kind, his attitude gentle, and his words were as pleasant as a spring breeze. He didn’t put on any airs at all.

Yu Changsheng felt a little embarrassed and smiled awkwardly, remaining respectful. "My Master is too generous with his praise."

Gongsun Yang laughed heartily and stepped forward. "My disciple is a good lad, of course. Alright, I won’t beat around the bush. Brother Yang, you’re already aware of the situation. I’m here to ask on my disciple’s behalf about the Blood Nourishing and Beast Nurturing Pill. Do you have any?"

"Well now..." Yang Tianyi lowered his gaze, glancing at Yu Changsheng before turning back to Gongsun Yang. He nodded with a small smile and said:

"I must, of course, give face to Brother Gongsun. I am indeed familiar with the Blood Nourishing and Beast Nurturing Pill. However, there’s little demand for it, so I don’t have any finished elixirs on hand. I only have the Pill Formula."

"Giving you the formula is no problem, but..."

Yang Tianyi trailed off, pausing for a moment. A look of keen interest appeared in his eyes as he turned to Yu Changsheng with a placid smile.

"I’m always hearing you talk about how astonishingly talented this disciple of yours is. I’d like to see it for myself. So, I won’t be refining this elixir for him. Instead, how about I give him the Pill Formula and let him do it himself?"
