Chapter 1395: Shifting the Blame
With doubts in her heart, Mu Yan was more sensitive than usual.
At the dining table, Jiang Jingheng picked up a piece of beef with his chopsticks and placed it in her bowl.
In the past, she would eat the food he picked for her, after all, she wasn’t a picky eater.
She played with the beef in her bowl with her chopsticks and said, "I don’t want to eat this."
"What’s wrong?" Jiang Jingheng looked at her, his eyebrows tightly knitted, "Don’t like the dish?"
"Hmm." Mu Yan nodded and put down her chopsticks.
"Then don’t eat this, have something else." Jiang Jingheng took the beef from her bowl and placed it into his, then picked up some other dishes for her.
Mu Yan frowned, "Don’t worry about me, just eat yourself."
Seeing her lack of appetite, Jiang Jingheng patiently said, "What do you want to eat? If it’s not on the table, I’ll have Yu Ma make it for you."
Mu Yan looked at his nervous expression and said, "I don’t really have an appetite."
"No appetite this morning and now again?" Jiang Jingheng’s eyebrows furrowed, forming a Sichuan character, "Let’s go, I’ll take you to the hospital."
Mu Yan stared at him and said nothing.
Seeing her sudden silence and strange expression, Jiang Jingheng asked, "What’s wrong?"
Mu Yan’s eyes flickered, and her gaze swept over the dishes on the table, then she said, "Maybe I had something too greasy and spicy at noon, I suddenly want some jujube yam porridge."
"Alright, I’ll have Yu Ma make it for you." Jiang Jingheng turned towards the kitchen and called Yu Ma over to give instructions.
Mu Yan picked up her chopsticks, ate a piece of vegetable, then placed a piece of chicken in Jiang Jingheng’s bowl.
Jiang Jingheng looked at her, his gaze incredibly gentle.
Half an hour later, the porridge was ready.
By now, Jiang Jingheng had already finished eating. He sat next to Mu Yan, stirring the porridge with a spoon.
Once the porridge had cooled down, he fed it to her spoonful by spoonful.
In the past, he often did such intimate things.
But today, Mu Yan felt particularly awkward, "I can eat by myself."
"Be good, let me feed you." Jiang Jingheng brought the spoon to her lips.
Mu Yan glanced at him, seeing his firm attitude, she didn’t protest and opened her mouth to eat.
Yet, the originally sweet porridge tasted incredibly bland in her mouth at this moment.
After eating one and a half bowls, Mu Yan couldn’t eat any more and started yawning.
Seeing her tired expression, Jiang Jingheng said, "If you don’t want to eat, then don’t. Go upstairs and rest."
"Hmm." Mu Yan nodded, yawned again, and headed upstairs.
She was drowsy and somewhat sleepy, and as she went upstairs, she missed her step and almost fell. A hand wrapped around her waist, helping her regain her balance.
Turning her head, Mu Yan met Jiang Jingheng’s concerned eyes and complained to him, "I’m too full to move."
Initially, it was her own carelessness and not watching her step, but she directly placed the blame on him for feeding her too much porridge.
Jiang Jingheng swallowed the words of reproach that were about to leave his mouth and said, "It’s my fault."
He picked her up and carried her upstairs.
Mu Yan contentedly accepted it, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Once they were back in the room, Jiang Jingheng placed her on the bed and said, "I’ll run you a bath, take a bath and then sleep."
"Hmm." Mu Yan nodded to him.
Jiang Jingheng went to the bathroom to run the water, while Mu Yan looked at the ceiling, lost in thought.
When Jiang Jingheng came out of the bathroom and walked to the bedside, he saw she had already fallen asleep.
He crouched by the bed, watching her sleeping face, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, she seemed particularly prone to sleepiness lately.
After a moment of silence, Jiang Jingheng directly helped her undress, and then carried her to the bathroom.
