The taxi stopped at the hospital entrance, Mu Yan paid the fare, put on her sunglasses, and got out of the car.
She didn’t look around and walked straight towards the hospital door.
The security around Jinxiu Villa had been strengthened again. When she came out, she ensured no one was following her. Plus, she hadn’t had any recent works and exposure, so no one was tailing her.
Something she hadn’t expected was that she just arrived at the hospital and bumped into Zhuang Shaoyang.
He was in a hurry, his face unshaven, and his shirt was rumpled, looking somewhat disheveled.
Zhuang Shaoyang sensed a familiar figure flashing past him, instinctively looked over and, seeing it was Mu Yan, he was slightly surprised, "Nuannuan, how come you’re here?"
Mu Yan looked at him and asked, "I should be asking you that; didn’t you return to Beijing?"
"Something happened to Jiaojiao. I rushed over from Beijing this morning," Zhuang Shaoyang replied.
"Is that so?"
Zhuang Shaoyang suddenly realized he had misspoken and quickly said, "Nuannuan, I’m not concerned about Jiaojiao; I simply think she’s alone in Upper City. Now that something’s happened, only I can help her, after all, I am her dad’s friend."
"Does this have anything to do with me?" Mu Yan said indifferently.
Zhuang Shaoyang thought she was angry and explained, "Nuannuan, I..."
"Yanyan, what are you doing here?" a hoarse woman’s voice called out.
Mu Yan turned her head to see Kong Lizhen walking towards her, instantly breaking into a smile, "Godmother, what are you doing here? Weren’t you visiting old friends? When did you get back?"
Kong Lizhen approached, placing her hand on her shoulder, and said, "I finished, got back yesterday. You don’t look well, are you feeling unwell?"
"No, I’m quite healthy," Mu Yan quickly replied.
"Then why are you at the hospital?" Kong Lizhen frowned.
"Uh, I’m just here to visit a friend. I’m not sick," Mu Yan explained. "What’s your reason for being here, godmother?"
"I’m here for a physical examination."
Mu Yan asked urgently, "Is your health alright?"
"I’m very healthy, it’s just a routine check-up, no need to worry," Kong Lizhen reassured her.
Mu Yan felt relieved, "That’s good."
Zhuang Shaoyang looked at the two of them chatting as if no one else was present, feeling very displeased.
It’s quite embarrassing for him to be jealous of a woman, but she’s supposed to be Nuannuan’s dad, yet she seems closer to an outsider than to him.
Kong Lizhen finally noticed Zhuang Shaoyang’s presence, turned her head to look at him, and asked, "Mr. Zhuang, we meet again."
"Miss Kong," Zhuang Shaoyang nodded slightly at her.
"Why hasn’t Mr. Zhuang returned to Beijing?"
"I have some matters here," Zhuang Shaoyang replied.
Kong Lizhen turned her head towards Mu Yan as if asking what the matter is.
Mu Yan replied, "His daughter is hospitalized, he rushed over from Beijing to visit."
"Oh, the illegitimate daughter from that affair," Kong Lizhen nodded, looking at Zhuang Shaoyang, "Mr. Zhuang is truly a good father."
Though it was a compliment, Zhuang Shaoyang’s face flushed.
He defended himself, "That’s not my daughter; she’s my friend’s daughter. I’m just taking care of her."
Kong Lizhen chuckled, "Then Mr. Zhuang would be considered loyal and righteous, driving away your wife and daughter for your friend’s wife and her daughter. I guess if your friend knew about this, they’d leap out of their coffin."
"You..." Zhuang Shaoyang couldn’t hold back, glaring at Kong Lizhen.
"Hmm?" Kong Lizhen looked at him with a tranquil expression, a hint of sneer in her clear eyes.
Faced with these familiar eyes, Zhuang Shaoyang suddenly couldn’t say a word.
At this moment, a woman’s voice broke out, "Shao Yang, you’re here!"
