Chapter 418 Admit!
Zhao Xiyue had just left not long ago when Luo Yao came over.
Seeing Mu Yan looking distracted, she softly asked, "Are you still going to the event this afternoon?"
"Of course I am." Mu Yan looked at her and gave a slight smile.
Luo Yao, seeing her act as if nothing was wrong, felt a bit distressed and took out a tissue to help dry the water on her hair.
"That Zhao Xiyue is really going too far."
"It’s not her fault," Mu Yan said softly.
Luo Yao glanced at her and said angrily, "So is it your fault then?"
Mu Yan was silent; she didn’t really think so.
If Jiang Jingheng and Zhao Xiyue weren’t in that kind of relationship, there was nothing wrong with her being with him.
But, she still felt uncomfortable.
It was like wearing a stolen luxurious dress; she didn’t quite fit it.
She picked up the cup and took a sip of water, then stood up and said, "Come on, let’s find a place to grab a bite first."
Luo Yao settled the bill and followed her out.
In the afternoon, Mu Yan arrived at the event venue, only to be informed once again that her spot had been replaced.
Luo Yao, infuriated, started arguing, "What do you mean, you say we don’t need it then we don’t, what do you take our Mu Yan for?"
"Miss Mu, we’re very sorry, but it’s a decision from higher up," the person in charge said apologetically.
Mu Yan didn’t say anything, pulling Luo Yao away.
"Mu Yan, you can’t just let it go like this, they’re being too outrageous." Luo Yao said angrily.
Mu Yan looked at her and said calmly, "No need to work, and I still get a breach fee. You should be happy for me instead."
Luo Yao frowned; clearly, she was the one who was upset, yet she was the one comforting her.
Mu Yan smiled and said, "Alright, let’s go to the hospital to accompany Chenchen. You’ve been busy these days, and you haven’t seen him yet."
Upon hearing this, Luo Yao’s face turned slightly red. Now that she mentioned it, she did miss him a bit.
"Alright, let’s buy something he likes to eat."
"Okay!"
On the way to the hospital, Luo Yao reported everything that happened today to Song Cheng’an.
Song Cheng’an asked her to hand the phone to Mu Yan and comforted her a little.
Mu Yan recalled that he and Zhao Xiyue were friends and couldn’t help but ask, "Did you know that Zhao Xiyue likes Jiang Jingheng, Brother Song?"
On the phone, Song Cheng’an admitted, "I knew."
Mu Yan pressed her lips together, "So, he knows too?"
"Mu Yan, it’s not like you think. Jing Heng is aware but has no interest in Zhao Xiyue at all."
"The issue now isn’t whether he likes Zhao Xiyue or not, but rather that you all knew Zhao Xiyue likes him and still kept it from me, letting me be friends with Zhao Xiyue?"
Mu Yan found this amusing, "Did you never think a day would come when the truth would come out?"
"I didn’t consider this carefully enough, and for that, I apologize."
Mu Yan wasn’t looking for an apology but didn’t know what to say.
She took a deep breath and said, "Brother Song, I’ll hang up first."
She returned the phone to Luo Yao and looked out the window.
The entire day had left her feeling increasingly heavy-hearted.
At the hospital, Mu Chen was surprised to see Mu Yan and Luo Yao arrive in the middle of the afternoon. "Don’t you have to work today?"
"What, not happy to see me?" Mu Yan shot a glare at him.
"Of course not!" Mu Chen immediately said.
Having his sister visit made him nothing but happy.
At Shengyuan Group, in the president’s office, Jiang Jingheng had just finished a video conference when suddenly the door to his office was pushed open.
He looked up to see a dazzling woman standing at the entrance, a slight cold glint flashing in his light brown eyes.
Zhao Xiyue looked at him, the corners of her mouth pulling slightly, "What, not happy to see me?"
