Chapter 1482 - 1480: The Messenger
The first round of the auction didn’t feature anything particularly outstanding. It was just a warm-up, with the best items generally saved for later in the auction.
Yun Qiluo didn’t see anything she wanted to gift her dad, she was simply here to enjoy the novelty.
While there were one or two pieces she found quite appealing, she mainly came to buy a gift, so she remained silent.
Yan Yan asked his assistant next to him to raise the paddle.
Yun Qiluo noticed it was a beautiful necklace and asked him, "Why are you bidding on this?"
"No reason, just buying it for fun."
The man leaned back in his chair, half embracing her, and spoke lazily.
In the first round, he only bid on this item, and after he made a move, no one else competed with him, so he easily obtained it.
During the auction intermission, a few people came over to greet him.
Upon hearing a sound of high heels from behind, and catching a familiar scent of perfume, Yun Qiluo had a certain premonition.
Looking up, it was indeed Fan Yubing approaching.
"Yan, what a coincidence." First greeted Yan Yan, hesitated for a moment, then looked at Yun Qiluo with a slight nod.
Yan Yan gave an indifferent nod with his chin, without saying a word.
"What are you here to bid on?"
"Just looking around," he wasn’t planning to say much, but remembering that Fan Yubing tends to talk a lot, he added, "Little Gua’s father’s birthday."
He clearly had no intention of continuing the topic.
Fan Yubing was initially stunned. Yun Qiluo’s father? When did Yun Qiluo have a father? Wasn’t she an orphan?
Furthermore, according to her speculation, wasn’t she coming from some organization? Could she have found her biological parents?
However, upon seeing Yan Yan lowering his head, feeding the young girl in his arms and looking as though he didn’t want to deal with others, she wisely refrained from asking more.
After greeting Yan Yan, she returned to her seat.
Her female companion asked, "Why didn’t you chat with him a bit more? Aren’t you supposed to be quite close?"
"Nothing much to chat about, they’ve both been in Imperial City recently, it’s not as if we haven’t met."
"True," the companion nodded knowingly, glanced at their backs, then added, "But his relationship with his girlfriend is really good... no wait, it should be his fiancée now."
"I’ve rarely seen him appear at such public occasions; Yan Yan is always busy. Looks like he’s here with his fiancée to buy things."
"That girl is truly lucky. I’ve always wondered what kind of person he would find appealing."
Listening to these words, Fan Yubing maintained a blank expression, only her hand beside her slightly tightened around her phone.
After a while, she bowed her head, seemingly sending messages to someone but who she was communicating with was unclear.
Her companion sneaked a peek. The other party was a female; she was the one who initiated the conversation with: [Sister Yubing, about what you mentioned last time... are you still interested?], followed by the chat between Fan Yubing and the other person.
The conversation seemed oddly cryptic. The avatar was familiar, but she couldn’t recall who it was, and Fan Yubing hadn’t marked it with a note.
Her companion only glanced briefly without seeing what they were discussing, then averted her gaze, not thinking much about it, as looking at someone’s phone screen was not a particularly noble act.
In the following two rounds of the auction, Yun Qiluo still hadn’t found anything suitable for her dad, so she kept quiet, resulting in Yan Yan bidding on a few more items.
She noticed that he seemed to enjoy buying things; perhaps because auction items were rare?
Nonetheless, everything he acquired was quite beautiful, and his taste was almost identical to hers.
