Danmachi: The Magic Grandmaster

Chapter 146: Nation Familia - 2

"What about the second step?" Astrea asked.

"We gather our strength, restructure Orario and forge the city into a nation familia," Sion answered.

"I finished the detailed plan. I'll hand you a list later, and you can invite the gods written on it."

The first step meant building alliances and consolidating the city.

After achieving that, Sion would essentially be the king of Orario.

The second step was simple.

Zeus and Hera would step aside for Sion.

Ouranos lacked any thirst for authority, so he would likely support the transition.

All that remained was hoarding enough resources to establish a nation in one decisive move.

"I understand," Astrea nodded, then asked a new question. "How should we define the recruitment criteria for our members?"

"What do you think?" Sion asked.

"As for me, I should at least recruit members who have a sense of justice," Astrea pondered for a moment before answering.

"Let's do it that way then," Sion smiled and spoke.

"As for the future, the definition of familia members won't be too strict. First comes Orario, and then comes the familia."

"Therefore, you can handle the recruitment of our members however you see fit."

Regardless of which familia a person joined, they would ultimately work for Sion.

As long as the gods kept the falna seals intact, even the divine beings had to fall in line with his grand design.

Astrea had to remain at the forefront initially.

A divine presence was still necessary, at least on the surface.

It was just like Rakia.

Even though Ares acted like a fool, the nation still prioritized its god.

Even after he attacked Orario, the gods of the city couldn't easily kill Ares.

Doing so would lead to chaos in Rakia and might even cause its downfall, as the entire structure relied on faith.

"Oh right, I almost forgot something important," Sion tapped his side and spoke.

"Our base lacks a name. I think you should handle this."

"Me?" Astrea looked surprised.

"Although I have the final say on key issues, I'll give a god their basic respect, rather than making you a mere tool," Sion spoke.

"Mutual respect is the prerequisite for people and gods to get along. As I said before, we'll get along fine."

Compared to the grand scope of a nation familia, it was appropriate to give the naming rights of their headquarters to Astrea.

Ultimately, this was still a world where humans and gods coexisted.

Even if a country rose in the future, Astrea would inevitably act as a high ranking official.

Sion had to make the final decisions on major matters, but he needed to delegate other tasks to trusted individuals so he wouldn't be overwhelmed by trivial details.

For example, he believed Astrea would do a fine job recruiting members.

"How about we call it the court of stars?" Astrea asked.

"Stars, that sounds good. Let's go with that," Sion smiled.

After discussing the finer details, the two decided to start their plan the next day.

Soon it was evening.

After dinner, Sion began to study his spells.

First was the magic foundation.

It was an ability that acted like a grimoire, allowing him to awaken spells for himself and others.

This spell was powerful because everyone awakened different types of spells.

This variety would bring Sion fresh inspiration and expand his knowledge into new fields.

A person could only awaken a limited number of spells based entirely on their potential.

Like Haruhime's and Alfia's magics.

Generally speaking, this tier of spells was the ultimate limit for mortals.

It was virtually impossible to awaken spells that mimicked the mechanics of arcanum.

No matter how many spells Sion awakened, they couldn't reach the domain of arcanum directly but the path was basically open.

Although Sion couldn't directly awaken that type of spell, he held the potential to create it from scratch.

Then came the second ability of his magic foundation, the ability to create spell slots.

This ability allowed Sion to convert congenital spells into acquired spells but he could only create one acquired spell slot per person.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to call it a temporary spell slot.

Power, range of effect, and degree of perfection would all reach an optimal state.

They might even evolve when combined with a second ability.

In other words, Sion could create a temporary spell slot for himself to hold the spells he had already created, making them much easier to cast.

When needed, he could replace the spell slot itself, achieving the effect of switching out acquired spells.

With three standard spell slots and one temporary spell slot, his spellcasting abilities gradually became more complete and versatile.

His second core spell was the magic network.

This ability could create a virtual network where spells could be stored.

He could expand its range by using people and ley lines as mediums.

Combined with a spell base, it formed an acquired spell grid, simply called a magic network.

The first spell combined with the second spell could accomplish many things.

For example, by using his puppets as nodes, he could deploy a magic network to harvest mind.

It not only enabled people outside Orario to protect themselves, but also allowed them to pool the strength of a unified nation.

They could collect mind and use it as the raw material to manufacture magic stones.

Though expanding its true scope required his soul materialization.

He needed it to truly transform his puppets into spirits and elevate inanimate objects into a living race.
