Victarion Greyjoy stood on the deck of his flagship, ten longships and a thousand ironborn ready to sail. They were waiting for the Lannister fleet.

Ten golden lions appeared on the horizon. Kevan Lannister had arrived with his brother's banners.

Balon Greyjoy came down to the docks himself. When Kevan stepped aboard with the Mountain looming behind him like a walking nightmare, even the ironborn fell silent. Victarion was tall, but next to Gregor Clegane he looked almost small.

"Lord Balon," Kevan said.

"Lord Kevan."

"If you're ready, we sail for Bear Island at once. Will you command the fleet yourself?"

Balon shook his head. "My brother Victarion leads the Iron Fleet. He will fight under your command."

Victarion stepped forward. "We'll make good allies, Lord Kevan."

Balon called Theon forward.

"This is my son. He sails with you."

Kevan's eyes sharpened. Sending your only living son to war earned respect even from a Lannister.

"He'll make a fine knight," Kevan said.

The combined fleet left the Iron Islands that afternoon, bound for Bear Island and the Mormonts.

In the Red Keep, Cersei stood before her mirror and hated what she saw. Her skin looked dull. Her eyes were tired. She hadn't been touched by a man since Jaime left, and the hunger was eating her alive.

She made her decision.

"Bring me the king's cupbearer," she told her maid. "Lancel Lannister. Now."

Lancel was barely older than Joffrey—young, eager, and far too easy to bend. Cersei didn't waste time with words. By the time the sun rose, the boy had learned exactly what his cousin wanted from him.

---

Sansa was still at her dressing table when Jenny Poole burst in.

"My lady, Princess Myrcella sent word. She wants all of you at the secret base right now."

Sansa didn't ask questions. She slipped out of the Red Keep, lost her tail in the crowds, and made her way to the Dragonpit.

Margaery Tyrell, Shireen Baratheon, and Arianne Martell were already waiting among the giant skulls.

"Where's Myrcella?" Sansa asked, dropping onto a dragon's jawbone like it was a throne.

"Feeding her white stag," Shireen said. "She'll be here soon."

Arianne tilted her head. "Your sister keeps coming here and stealing dragon bones and teeth. What exactly is Arya doing with them?"

Sansa sighed. "I don't know. Father says she's still in the city, but she hasn't come home in weeks."

---

Far outside the city walls, Myrcella rode her white stag through the Kingswood like something out of a song. Golden hair streamed behind her. The stag moved like liquid moonlight beneath her.

Lannister soldiers rode in front and behind, keeping a respectful distance. Cersei had ordered heavy protection after the last time Myrcella disappeared.

The princess patted the stag's neck.

"Time to go home, beautiful."

The great white beast turned toward King's Landing. The soldiers formed up around her.

Myrcella smiled to herself. The others were waiting. It was time to make plans.
