Chapter 297: Reaping What One Sows (6)
’Seraphina Sterling, I’m just dying to see how you’ll get out of this one. You should have just stayed obediently in the countryside; at least then you could have lived a peaceful life! But you just had to come back to Aethelgard and fight me over the Sterling Family!’
’The consequence of you returning to the Sterling Family is that you get to be my scapegoat! Once you fall into Martin Quinn’s hands after offending him, even if you don’t die, you’ll be skinned alive! In the end, you’ll still be abandoned by the Sterling Family, and you’ll have to suffer the Quinn Family’s punishment! This is the price you pay for desiring things that don’t belong to you! Just you wait to enjoy Martin Quinn’s methods of punishment! I guarantee it will be an experience you’ll never forget!’
It wasn’t just Faye Sterling and Jasmine Faulkner; everyone was waiting to see what would happen next. Mr. Quinn himself had shown up, and the Sterling Family elders had made their position clear. Things were looking grim for Seraphina Sterling.
"You’re in a pretty pathetic state," Martin Quinn said suddenly, the grim look on his face brightening considerably. "Your own family won’t even defend you; they just threw you under the bus!"
"Does my miserable state please you, Mr. Quinn?" Seraphina Sterling asked with a faint smile. "I imagine you must be in a fine mood!" ’He obviously got here a long time ago. Of course he’s in a good mood after watching the show for so long!’
"Yes, I am," Martin Quinn answered instinctively. Then, he saw Seraphina Sterling unconsciously move her legs and finally understood why she had asked that question.
’My long legs are safe! I have no desire to be some crippled beauty, nor do I want to be stuck in a wheelchair! I really, really hope I never have to see Martin Quinn again!’
The crowd grew restless. What was going on?
These two knew each other!
They actually knew each other!
And it looked like they were on good terms?
Oh my god! Seraphina Sterling, who just got back from the countryside, actually managed to connect with Mr. Quinn? That girl is on another level!
When Jasmine Faulkner and Faye Sterling heard their perfectly natural conversation and their casual tone, their minds went blank. It seemed they had made a mistake—a very, very serious one.
"Faye Sterling! Did you really think your plan was perfect, completely flawless? You scratch my car and run off, and you think pushing out a scapegoat can cover your tracks? Using me as your weapon to take someone out... I’d say you’ve got a death wish! It’s been a long time since I’ve met anyone who dared to deceive and use me! You’ve really got some nerve!"
Martin Quinn’s words sent the color draining from Faye Sterling’s face. ’How does he know? How did he find out I was the one who scratched his car! My plan was perfect. Where did it go wrong?’
"Madam Sterling, go back and tell Owen Sterling that I’m taking his precious daughter with me! She didn’t just scratch my car; she used me. I’m going to settle these two scores properly! At the very least, everyone is going to learn what the consequences are for crossing Martin Quinn!" As he spoke, Leo Warren was already restraining Faye Sterling.
Peter Quinn was dumbfounded. ’So Seraphina Sterling was right all along. I really did target the wrong person and demand vengeance on a false pretext! Oh god! What do I do now? I was just shouting for Mr. Quinn to get revenge for me!’
While Peter Quinn was still reeling, Martin Quinn walked right up to him, grabbed his already dislocated wrist, and gave it a vicious yank. SNAP! It was broken. "With an IQ like that, don’t go telling people your last name is Quinn! You’re a disgrace!"
Peter Quinn knew he had screwed up. If he had actually forced Seraphina Sterling to apologize today, Faye Sterling’s wicked scheme would have succeeded. He would have indirectly made Mr. Quinn her pawn—a knife in her hand!
So, no matter how much it hurt, he didn’t dare cry out, let alone voice a single complaint. He knew this punishment was getting off easy; it was the lightest he could have possibly received.
