Chapter 188: Successfully Acquiring the Galloway Family’s Auction Company (5)
"So, you’re saying that even if you honor our agreement and make a ton of money for me, it’s still up in the air who will actually end up with it. Is that right?"
Ronan Winters was so frustrated he could barely keep from grinding his teeth. This was the first time he’d ever been a part of such a one-sided deal!
Seraphina Sterling, on the other hand, was quite pleased with her proposal. ’Since it’s a business deal, I naturally have to maximize my own interests from every angle!’ "There’s one more very important thing. Since you want legal income, I trust that the capital you’re investing is also legal, correct? However, to be on the safe side, before I accept any of your investments, I will conduct a detailed assessment and a thorough investigation. I will only put the money into the stock market after I’ve confirmed that it’s clean."
Ronan Winters’s brows furrowed so deeply they nearly became one. ’She’s this cautious! Isn’t this taking caution a little too far? If I really wanted to launder money, I wouldn’t need to go through all this trouble!’
"If—and I’m stressing ’if’ here—I find out that this money of yours isn’t clean, I won’t even give you a heads-up. I’ll just donate the entire sum to a charitable foundation. So, to make sure your own interests aren’t compromised, you must be extremely, extremely careful with the funds you provide me. If something goes wrong, don’t blame me for not warning you in advance!"
This was another matter of extreme importance to Seraphina Sterling. ’The only reason I’m making a deal with Ronan Winters is because I don’t want the Winters Family to stand in my way in the future. It’s not because I want to help him launder money!’
Upon hearing this, the corner of Ronan Winters’s mouth twitched uncontrollably. ’So with this partnership, I might not even make any money! Not only will I not profit, but I might even end up losing some! Only Seraphina Sterling could propose such tyrannical terms and still have me accept them!’
The two had finally settled the terms of their deal. Before leaving, Seraphina Sterling instructed him one last time to keep his people under control and not to disturb her again during the critical moments of the auction for the Galloway Family’s assets.
After their discussion ended, Seraphina Sterling was surprised to see that Terrence Grant hadn’t left. He was sitting alone in the lounge area, sipping tea. With a sigh of resignation, Seraphina walked over to him. "We’re done here. Is there something else you need?"
Terrence Grant shot a look at Ronan Winters. "I don’t care what kind of deal or partnership you’ve struck with Seraphina Sterling. But if I find out you’ve tried to take advantage of her in any way, don’t blame me for taking drastic measures."
Ronan Winters really felt like coughing up blood. ’These two are a perfect match as teacher and student. Even their threatening tone, their way of thinking, and their methods of punishment are astonishingly similar!’
"Mr. Grant, you really underestimate your student. She is a true testament to your personal tutelage—the pupil has surpassed the master! She’d never be the one to come out on the losing end of a deal."
A proud, smug look appeared on Terrence Grant’s face, as if Ronan Winters had been praising him personally. "Your business is concluded. Why are you still here? Are you thinking of moving in?"
Ronan Winters: "..." ’This isn’t your restaurant. Do you really have to be so eager to kick people out?’
After Ronan Winters left, only Terrence Grant and Seraphina Sterling remained at the table. "What are we doing now?"
"We’re eating," Terrence Grant said. With a wave of his hand, a waiter immediately began bringing out dishes. It was clear he had ordered the food much earlier and was simply waiting for Seraphina to finish her meeting.
"But I just..." Seraphina wanted to say that she had already eaten, but when she saw the increasingly dangerous look in Terrence Grant’s eyes, she stopped. Silently, she picked up her chopsticks and began to eat.
Only then did Terrence Grant’s expression soften. ’She ate a meal with Ronan Winters, and now she’s eating another one with me. For this round, I’ll count it as my win.’
