Chapter 176: The Galloway Father and Daughter Courting Death (Part 1)
Seraphina Sterling ended up coming over after all. Terrence Grant’s reluctance couldn’t stop her.
"Genevieve, how are you?"
"Don’t worry, I’m fine! Logan Grant is in much worse shape than me—his face is a mess! I’m sorry. I was so useless. If I hadn’t been captured, you and Logan wouldn’t have had to come rescue me! And you wouldn’t have gotten hurt!" Genevieve Churchill said, filled with guilt.
"What are you talking about? I was their target. You were dragged into this because of me! I never imagined they’d go after you!" If anyone should be sorry, Seraphina Sterling felt it was her.
"So, is everything sorted out? If not, you can ask my brother for help. He’s incredibly capable! There’s nothing he can’t handle!" Genevieve Churchill said, acting as if nothing had happened as she relentlessly praised her brother, Julian Churchill.
Seraphina Sterling glanced over at the tall man standing to the side—the head of Veridia City’s Churchill family.
After the heads of the Churchill family died in a plane crash, the branch families developed designs on The Churchill Group, hoping to seize control. Julian Churchill, who had just graduated from college at the time, used exceptionally ruthless tactics to crush them completely. He then took over as president of The Churchill Group and spent the next six months purging all the old guard from the company, firmly cementing his position.
’What if Genevieve is in love with him? That would make things truly complicated. Even though she’s the Churchill family’s adopted daughter and shares no blood relation with Julian Churchill, you could tell at a glance that he was an extremely cold man, the type who didn’t seem to care much about anything.’
’He’s also incredibly dominant; there’s no way Genevieve could handle him. If Julian Churchill genuinely had feelings for her, then maybe their relationship could have a future. But if he only sees her as a sister, as family, then Genevieve is bound to end up heartbroken!’
’In some ways, Julian Churchill and Terrence Grant could be considered the same type of person. It’s just that Terrence is far more inscrutable, and even more dangerous.’
"It’s fine. I can handle this myself." Seraphina Sterling frowned. "The conference is over. What are your plans?"
"Don’t you worry about me! First, I’m going to seriously level up my self-defense skills. You and Logan Grant are both so capable, I can’t afford to look bad! As your friend, I can’t embarrass you, right? And then... I’m going to get into Aethelgard University! You better work hard, because your future senior will go ahead and scout out the campus, get the dirt on all the handsome guys, and prepare for your grand arrival! I’ll be waiting for you at Aethelgard University!"
Genevieve Churchill had returned to her usual bubbly, carefree self. She never dwelled on the past; even if she did, what was done was done, and nothing could be changed. She was a smart woman and wouldn’t waste her energy on such pointless efforts.
’But... why did she have the faint feeling of a strong, murderous aura? What was with that incredibly handsome man behind Seraphina? Why was his gaze so terrifying? It’s not like she’d just said anything to offend him, right? So what was with that look on his face, like he wanted to eat her alive?’
’Finding handsome guys for Seraphina? Am I not handsome enough? Could she possibly find a man more handsome than me?’ Terrence Grant shot a glance at Julian Churchill, who was standing off to the side. ’Keep an eye on your sister. Don’t let her lead my girl astray!’
Julian Churchill could only offer Terrence Grant an apologetic look in return. ’In front of this sister of mine, I have no room to speak! I can barely fend for myself right now! Genevieve’s anger hasn’t even subsided yet!’
Seraphina Sterling, however, was delighted. Genevieve was a smart girl; she knew what choices to make to ensure her own comfort. "Alright, I’m definitely going to Aethelgard. But you won’t get to be my senior—I’m taking the college entrance exams next year, too! We’ll just have to see who gets the higher score!"
