Chapter 99: The Freak of Freaks
That Seraphina Sterling had won this round was admittedly beyond Terrence Grant’s expectations, since rock climbing wasn’t her forte. He was pleased with the result, but the process infuriated him. ’She actually wrapped her legs around her opponent’s waist! Has she completely forgotten she’s a woman?’
「The second match: shooting.」
Aside from his medical expertise, Psycho Doc’s greatest skill was his marksmanship. He had once killed a world-famous assassin with a single shot! The event had caused a huge sensation, but his true identity remained a secret to the outside world.
Seraphina Sterling said nothing, focusing on recovering her stamina. ’These are no ordinary opponents,’ she thought. ’One slip-up, and I’ll be completely crushed!’
Psycho Doc and Seraphina Sterling arrived outside the shooting range. They looked at the two large boxes placed before them, puzzled.
Hughes cleared his throat and stepped forward. "These two boxes contain the parts for the guns you’ll be using in a moment. You can only fight with the weapons you assemble yourselves."
Seraphina Sterling stared at the large, one-square-meter box in front of her. It was densely packed with gun parts. ’Just how many guns did Terrence Grant take apart?!’
Psycho Doc, however, was perfectly calm. He was intimately familiar with the components of every model of firearm, a familiarity that felt as if it had seeped into his very marrow. This posed no difficulty for him whatsoever. ’Still, the Young Master’s tests are getting more and more depraved... but as long as I’m the one dishing it out, I love it!’
Hughes took in their expressions. "A word of warning," he said. "You have only one minute to assemble your weapons. And these boxes don’t just contain gun parts; there are also parts from motor vehicles, farm equipment, and household appliances. One more thing: even the gun parts provided may not form a complete set. You’ll find that many components are missing!"
Seraphina Sterling instinctively glanced over at Terrence Grant, who was leisurely sipping his tea. She used to think he was just arrogant and conceited, but today she realized he was truly twisted. ’Only he could come up with a trick like this!’
"Begin!"
Hughes returned to his position behind Terrence Grant.
In near-perfect sync, they both dumped the parts onto the open ground. Then, neither of them moved, their eyes rapidly scanning for components that were not only useful, but could be used to assemble a functional firearm.
Suddenly, Seraphina Sterling moved. She swiftly selected her parts and began assembling them with nimble fingers.
Psycho Doc glanced over. ’An 88 sniper? Perfect!’ He immediately picked out the parts he needed. He loved sniping. As soon as Psycho Doc finished his rapid assembly, he bolted into the forest. ’In a sniper duel, securing an advantageous position is paramount!’
"Looks like Psycho Doc is the stronger one after all! He’ll definitely beat that little girl this time!" Silly Monkey said, having pulled himself together and walked over. Since he had lost, his only hope was for his teammate, Psycho Doc, to win.
"I wouldn’t be so sure," Stoney said, watching Seraphina Sterling’s nimble fingers. After she finished assembling her first weapon, she rummaged through her own pile of parts, then sifted through Psycho Doc’s, and assembled a *second* gun of the same model!
"What the hell, that’s allowed?" Silly Monkey pointed at Seraphina Sterling and looked at Hughes in astonishment, his expression clearly asking, ’Isn’t that against the rules?’
Even Hughes was startled by Seraphina Sterling’s actions, but he maintained his professional poker face. "The rules don’t forbid taking your opponent’s parts. It’s not a violation."
Within the time limit, Seraphina Sterling finished assembling two Type 88 sniper rifles, grabbed the corresponding ammunition, and quickly departed.
"Hmph! More guns doesn’t mean she’ll win! Psycho Doc’s marksmanship is nothing to scoff at! That girl probably thinks an extra gun gives her better odds! What a naive idea! If she thinks she can beat Psycho Doc, she’s got another think coming!"
Silly Monkey was seething with frustration. He’d thought they were the ones who played unconventionally, but the girl they met today wasn’t just unconventional—she was downright devious! It seemed like if you could think of it, she could do it.
"You really think so?" Stoney shot back, exasperated. "A big reason you lost to her is because you’re so dense!"
"If you ever want a chance to win against her, you need to think carefully about *why* she does things like this. Otherwise, you’ll never beat her!" Mermaid didn’t even spare Silly Monkey a glance. She’d given up on his intelligence long ago.
Hughes glanced at the trio, refilled Terrence Grant’s empty cup with fresh tea, and said in a perfectly level tone, "Seraphina Sterling’s bullet hit king, you know."
Silly Monkey, Stoney, and Mermaid exchanged a look. The expression in their eyes changed instantly.
The legendary king!
The king known as the God of Marksmanship!
The king who had *never* been hit before!
The trio suddenly felt a chill run down their spines. All three of them shot a look at Terrence Grant. ’Where in the world did the Young Master find a student this incredible?!’
Seeing their utterly shocked expressions, Hughes was inwardly thrilled. Still, he maintained his professional poker face and continued dropping bombshells in that same, placid tone. "And what’s more, she dodged king’s bullet."
’Someone actually managed to dodge king’s bullet!’
