A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 466: Refusing to Let Go (6)

Suddenly, he moved.

Preston Patterson saw Seraphina Sterling emerge from the classroom. She didn’t seem to notice him, so he had no choice but to stride over.

A wave of gasps rippled through the girls. He was like a handsome man who’d walked straight out of a manga! Just too gorgeous! Each girl wore a demure smile, inwardly praying that Preston Patterson would stop in front of them. But clearly, heaven wasn’t listening. Preston Patterson didn’t even spare them a glance, walking directly to Seraphina Sterling.

"You need something?" Seraphina Sterling looked at him, surprised. She had something to do tonight—something urgent—and no time to waste at school.

"Yes, there is." Preston Patterson glanced at the crowd around them. "We should find somewhere else to talk. This isn’t the right place." With that, he turned to leave, assuming Seraphina would follow. In his experience, everyone always did. His word was final, and he never needed to ask for an opinion.

But Seraphina Sterling didn’t budge. Instead, she asked, "Is it important? If not, can it wait? I have other plans."

Preston Patterson stopped mid-stride, taken aback by her response.

He wasn’t the only one who was stunned. All the girls who overheard Seraphina were just as shocked, their faces twisting in disbelief. A single thought screamed through their minds: ’If you don’t want to go, I will!’ What could possibly be more important than a date with the campus god? The other girls were dying to agree on Seraphina’s behalf. At a moment like this, you were supposed to drop everything, even if you really did have plans. Having plans was the same as having no plans!

After his shock wore off, Preston Patterson said, "Your classes for the day are over." His implication was clear: what could be more important? In his view, nothing mattered besides attending class.

Seraphina Sterling saw the growing crowd around them. Not wanting to be gawked at like a monkey in a zoo, she reluctantly agreed, "Fine, we’ll talk somewhere else. But you only have ten minutes."

First, he was brushed off, and now he was being put on a timer. Preston Patterson had never in his life been treated this way. Today, he was getting a full dose of it, and all from the same person.

The two of them went to the Stock Trading Club’s activity room. At this hour, it was the quietest place on campus and the one where they were least likely to be disturbed.

Watching the pair’s retreating backs, the girls glared so hard at Seraphina they could have burned holes through her. How did Seraphina Sterling get so lucky! To have caught Mr. Patterson’s eye! But that wasn’t what truly angered them. What they couldn’t stand was her attitude toward their idol. Their god had personally come to see her, and she acted reluctant? She was unbelievable!

Little did Seraphina Sterling know, she had already been branded as the campus god’s girlfriend. Just like that, the still-single girl was suddenly in a relationship.

The club had no activities scheduled for today. Over the past two weeks, they had held five events, each bigger than the one before. Participation grew each time, and now, the members’ funds were almost completely tied up in the stock market—especially Shelby Fenton’s. Of course, Seraphina hadn’t taken part. ’They’re just a bunch of spendthrifts. If they don’t get taught a harsh lesson and suffer a major loss, they’ll never learn.’

"I need to ask you something. Those three stocks you picked on the day of our competition—was that a carefully considered choice, or did you just pick them on a whim?" This question had been plaguing Preston Patterson for a long time. The stocks she’d selected showed no signs of being profitable in the short term.
