Chapter 313 - 310: Taisu Ghost Silkworm Silk Set
Feng Hao looked at the large pile of essences laid out before him, all perfectly suited for his needs, and couldn’t help but sigh in admiration.
’Sometimes, reality isn’t so different from a game. Robbery and extortion are often much faster ways to get essences than hunting for them yourself.’
"Looks like I can finally complete my Ghost Silkworm Silk set." Feng Hao nodded with a faint smile, then turned to Sirlius at his side. "Brother Xilu, I’ll have to trouble you to stand guard for me."
"No problem. Go ahead and start fusing, Brother Feng Hao," Sirlius chuckled and nodded.
Hearing this, Feng Hao didn’t hesitate. He took the Ghost Silkworm Silk set from his Spatial Ring and began fusing the selected essences into it. Of course, while these essences he’d extorted were good, they were only temporary. He would definitely replace them later when he found higher-star ones.
After all, an essence’s attributes grew based on the Secret Realm’s layer and the Spirit Beast’s star rank. Take the common Qi Blood boost, for example. A First-Layer Infinite Essence provided a base of 1,000 Qi Blood, a second-layer one provided 2,000, and so on. Then, based on the Spirit Beast’s star rank, it gained an additional 100 Qi Blood per star.
Of course, the base value and growth rate were different for each type of attribute boost. This was especially true for the speed and attack speed boosts. Their base values were the same for every layer of a Secret Realm, but their star-rank growth increased with the Secret Realm’s layer:
The speed boost value = 100 + (Star Rank × Secret Realm Layer), while the attack speed boost value = 10 + (Star Rank × Secret Realm Layer) / 10.
Generally speaking, essences from higher-layer Secret Realms were better, but a sufficiently high star rank could make up for some of the difference.
For example, a one-hundred-star Infinite Essence was better than a ten-star Taichu or Primordial Essence.
Unfortunately, high-star Spirit Beasts weren’t something you could just run into. Even if you did, you weren’t guaranteed to win, since a Spirit Beast’s strength also increased with its star rank.
While Feng Hao was busy fusing his Ghost Silkworm Silk set, Yao Girl had already made a killing. She was squatting to the side, counting her earnings over and over without getting tired of it, letting out a silly laugh from time to time as she basked in the joy of her haul.
Although Sirlius was standing guard, as a Summoner, he only needed to leave the task of being vigilant to his Summoned Beast.
"What are you doing, Little Sister Xiyue? You look very happy." Sirlius leaned in, his curiosity piqued.
The young girl started in surprise, hastily clutching the Magic Crystals to her chest. She looked at him warily. "What do you want? We already agreed that all the Magic Crystals we collected are mine."
"Er," Sirlius didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Relax, I just want to chat. I’m not going to steal your Magic Crystals."
"That’s more like it." Xi Yueyao pouted, still eyeing Sirlius defensively. "This young lady is in a good mood right now, so say what you want."
"Haha." Sirlius chuckled, then asked with a hint of confusion, "From what I know, Bloodline Planets are relatively backward in all aspects because they’re cut off from the outside world. The general strength of Mages there isn’t very high, yet your and Feng Hao’s power completely exceeds my expectations."
"Tch!" The young girl pouted, dissatisfied. "So what if you’re from the Second Ring Star Realm? What’s so great about that?"
"Well..." Sirlius felt awkward. Although he didn’t discriminate against the Outer Ring Star Realm like other Mages from the Second Ring, it was a universally acknowledged fact that Mages from the Inner Ring Star Realms were of higher quality than those from the Outer Ring. "I don’t mean anything by it. I’m just a little curious."
"Hmph!" Xi Yueyao snorted, speaking with a worldly air. "Everyone says Mages from the Inner Ring Star Realm are so tough. Well, this young lady is the first to disagree. Someone like you? This young lady could take on ten of you."
"Is that so?" Sirlius said meaningfully.
"Of course." The young girl said smugly. "And I’m not bragging. A Fifth-rank Mage like you? The guy who sells medicine back home could take on twenty of you. No, wait, even thirty would be no problem."
Sirlius couldn’t help but laugh. As an elite from a top sect in the Second Ring Star Realm, he was quite confident in his own abilities.
He didn’t know Feng Hao and Xi Yueyao’s true strength, but he doubted he was so weak that she could really take on ten of him.
"By the way, when you fought that four-person squad earlier, you turned yourself into an ice sculpture. Was that your bloodline talent?" Sirlius continued to ask.
Xi Yueyao said, startled and suspicious, "Aha! So you’ve been spying on us this whole time!"
"Ahem, I just happened to see it as I was leaving," Sirlius said with an awkward laugh.
The young girl clearly didn’t believe his BS. Her face fell and she huffed, "You’d better not get any funny ideas, or this young lady will twist you into a pretzel!"
Sirlius gave a sheepish smile and pressed on, "Why don’t you tell me about your bloodline talent? I’m really quite curious."
"Hmph, hmph." Xi Yueyao proudly lifted her chin, her face full of glee. "That’s right. The ice sculpture from before was indeed this young lady’s bloodline talent. As for its name... I haven’t thought of one yet."
"The name isn’t important; the effect is. Your bloodline must be defensive in nature, and judging from your previous battle, its defensive power must be quite high, right?" Sirlius asked, his eyes filled with curiosity.
"Of course! This young lady’s bloodline is..." Xi Yueyao suddenly paused, then laughed it off. "Forget it. You wouldn’t understand even if I told you. All you need to know is that this young lady’s bloodline is amazing."
Sirlius was completely dumbfounded. He thought he could get some information out of the young girl, but now it seemed she was unbelievably sharp.
Seeing that he wasn’t getting anywhere, Sirlius changed the subject. "Right, you must be a Mage who practices Dual Cultivation in both physical strength and hidden force. In that case, your power’s root system must be a mutated gene, right?"
"Tch, do you even need to ask such a simple question? A three-year-old could figure that out," Xi Yueyao said with contempt.
"..." Sirlius was speechless once again, feeling as if his intelligence was being insulted.
Not far away, the Water Luminous Beast patrolled around Feng Hao on its own. Seeing Sirlius’s defeated look, it turned its head away as if embarrassed for him.
Meanwhile, Feng Hao had gradually finished fusing the Ghost Silkworm Silk set. He had also taken the opportunity to fuse the Fifth-rank Demon Jade Talisman.
’Tsk, tsk. A full set of Taixu Equipment really makes a difference. My combat power has increased by a huge margin.’
Once the fusion was complete, Feng Hao contentedly put on the Ghost Silkworm Silk set. He then habitually opened his game panel to check the equipment stats:
