Formless Ascension: My Affinity Is Limitless

Chapter 244: Heavenly Demon

"You’re gonna tell me everything you know about that thing and why you want it, or else I’m really going to reveal myself and reveal that you’re also here with me," Uhtred said menacingly. "Not even your luck can stop me from doing that..."

Lucky’s face was wrought with distraught and confusion; he seemed at a loss for words on how to wriggle himself out of the current situation.

Uhtred had correctly deduced that there was no way his ability was invulnerable, which was a fact. If it were, he wouldn’t need to hide here. He could simply waltz into the palace and let his luck do the rest.

There was also the fact that he had tried to corner Uhtred here... that was, beyond a doubt, the nail in the coffin confirming Uhtred’s deduction.

Suddenly, just when Uhtred was waiting for Lucky to spill the beans on what exactly the thing inside Nayu An was and what he wanted it for, a heavy sigh resounded from above them, taking Uhtred by total surprise.

All alarm bells in his head went off immediately.

The Heavenly Demon!!

Without a doubt, the figure hovering above them was the Heavenly Demon himself! The oppression coming off of him was on another level — it was far, far greater than the An Clan Ancestor... far greater, even, than the Jotuniel leader Uhtred had met back in Australia.

"Give it up, Lucky. He has you cornered already," the Heavenly Demon’s voice was humorous and lofty. He descended lightly to the rooftop where Uhtred and Lucky hid themselves.

He didn’t look at Uhtred once. His whole attention was on Lucky.

Uhtred stood with difficulty as the Heavenly Demon descended. Now that the Heavenly Demon was on the same floor as he was, Uhtred could feel everything more clearly.

The aura of oppression coming off of him was full of finesse. That was the first thing Uhtred noticed. Compared to Nascent Realm powerhouses who released their auras wantonly to show their might, the Heavenly Demon was doing the same, but his was much more full of finesse.

His aura was directed specifically at Uhtred, without much effort. Meanwhile, the rest of the surroundings was exactly like normal.

If there were others standing around, they wouldn’t have felt the slightest thing. The aura of oppression remained locked only on Uhtred, even as the Heavenly Demon strode forward to Lucky.

He reached the kid and patted his shoulder lightly.

"You’re still too young to make your threats believable. The Otherworlders coming to our dimension aren’t easily fooled. They will always call bluffs like that easily."

His voice was easy as he chastised the kid.

The kid in question, Lucky, looked forlorn. Whether he was being overly dramatic again, or whether he truly was distraught from failing to force Uhtred to the conclusion he wanted, one couldn’t really tell.

"Look. Even as I speak, he only watches without surprise," the Heavenly Demon said, this time motioning toward Uhtred.

He was right. Uhtred stood still. The oppression of the Heavenly Demon was still bearing down on him — the might of an Awakened Realm cultivator — but he only stood unmoving.

His mind was already working furiously. From what he had seen and heard from the Heavenly Demon just now, he had come to a few conclusions that made him stand easy and without fear.

He looked between Lucky and the Heavenly Demon, then let out a sigh.

"Can we skip to the part where you tell me what you want me alive for—?"

Before he finished speaking, the Heavenly Demon raised a palm to cut him off.

Uhtred paused, and the Heavenly Demon spoke.

"Don’t. Don’t bother to try and gain momentum of the conversation with me. That only works when you’re dealing with young fellows of your age and Lucky’s..."

His expression was still easy, radiating a silent, utterly confident danger.

"I can kill you on a whim. You are nothing more than another Otherworlder passing through my world."

His gaze left Uhtred’s the moment he delivered his words, almost as if his attention was worth gold to him and giving more than necessary to Uhtred was beneath him.

He patted Lucky once more, then left him, striding forward to the edge of the building.

Below, the doors of the grand palace ahead opened, revealing an interior steeped in pitch-black shadows so dense and absolute that the darkness beyond them looked like an endless, swallowing abyss.

"You will follow me now," he said to no one in particular, but Uhtred knew it was him being spoken to.

He clenched his jaw slightly and cracked a smile.

This was a power play. Uhtred recognized that clearly. Whether consciously or subconsciously, the Heavenly Demon was making his loftiness and dangerous might known.

But despite knowing what this was, that didn’t help the slight fear that Uhtred still felt.

The Heavenly Demon was unlike any other he had faced throughout his path of ascension so far.

It was clear that the Heavenly Demon wanted something from him, but unlike other powerhouses who he had met — powerhouses who, one way or the other, wanted something from him, while at the same time, wanted his life too — the Heavenly Demon truly didn’t care whether he died or not.

Uhtred could tell this was a very fickle person before him. One that acted as he pleased without thinking of repercussions, even if things were to become much more difficult because of his choice.

He truly is a Heavenly Demon...

Uhtred had barely finished the thought, when the Heavenly Demon suddenly spoke.

He looked at the Nascent Realm cultivators of the Demonic Cult, who had now congregated below the building they were atop.

"Kill yourselves," he ordered.

He gave no explanation, but he didn’t need to. For the sin of failing to sense Uhtred or Lucky — allowing two intruders to come as far into the Demonic Cult as the front of the palace itself — he was ordering them to kill themselves...

And kill themselves, they did.
