Chapter 97 - 054 Beginning of the New Year
By the time Su Wan turned her gaze back, He Youyou had already turned around to face the stage.
The seats in the hall were gradually filling up, and the members of the orchestra were taking their positions on stage one after another. The concert hall was brightly lit, and everyone was quietly waiting for the conductor to come on stage.
Soon, amidst the audience’s enthusiastic applause, a medium-built middle-aged conductor slowly walked onto the podium from the other side of the stage.
He led the entire orchestra to stand and express their gratitude to all the audience present before starting the performance for the evening.
The first piece was the "Nehelendi March," composed by Franz Lehar. It was selected from the opera "Ladies of Vienna," and it was a short piece with a robust and lively style, extremely suitable as an opening number.
The second piece was the overture to the light opera "Black Queen," composed by the Romantic-era composer Franz von Suppe, incorporating segments from Brahms’s Hungarian Dance No. 21. Throughout this piece, the melody transitioned from being graceful to soothing, to lively, and bright and cheerful, clearly presenting a scene both light and lyrical.
Following that, they played Emil Waldteufel’s "Skating Waltz," Johann Strauss II’s "Mephistopheles’ Hellish Call Waltz," Austrian composer Carl Zirel’s "Leisurely Walk Waltz," and "The Blue Danube Waltz." Finally, they concluded with the clap-along song "Radetzky March," bringing down the curtain.
As the performance ended, the audience dispersed in an orderly manner.
Fu Weiheng, being one of the event’s special guests, was led out through another passage by a man in a working uniform.
Outside the theater, Su Wan remembered tomorrow’s events, tugged on Fu Weiheng’s arm, and said, "Neil, please take me back to the dorm. I have something important to do tomorrow. Can I leave my violin at your place for now?"
