Oops… I Went Into Heat and My Alpha Daddies Claimed Me

Chapter 190: THE MOON GODDESS HAS A SENSE OF HUMOR

Keisha’s POV

I was still smiling at something Uncle Klein was saying when he called in to check in when Nadia dropped herself onto the chair beside my bed, looking at me with a small frown.

I quickly lowered the phone from my ear, but it was already too late because she had caught the expression on my face.

"Who is making you smile like that?" Nadia asked, narrowing her eyes at me. "Because I know that is not the face you make when Callum calls to ask whether you’ve eaten."

I laughed and put the phone back to my ear. "Uncle Klein."

"Your uncle?" she asked, looking genuinely disappointed. "So there’s a hot man somewhere making you laugh and it turns out he’s your uncle? That’s unfortunate."

I covered my mouth to stop myself from laughing again while Klein’s voice came through the phone. "Was that Nadia?" he asked.

"Yes." I laughed.

"Tell her I heard that."

I glanced at Nadia, who immediately shook her head. "Don’t you dare."

I grinned. "She said you should mind your business."

Klein laughed loudly enough that I had to pull the phone away from my ear. "Of course she did. But it doesn’t matter, she’ll get used to me, I mean you used to think I was the funniest person alive."

"I was six." I groaned.

He huffed a laugh. "Exactly. Which means you had excellent judgment."

Klein eventually excused himself, promising to call me again about the documents, and I ended the call.

Nadia immediately looked at me. "We should go out."

I frowned. "Go out where?"

"Club." She smiled. "Just have some fun or whatever."

I stared at her and she spread her hands. "What?"

My expression was filled with confusion. "I’m six months pregnant."

"And?"

"And I’m carrying two babies." It reminded her. "You can’t be serious."

"I am aware." She drawled. "But what’s the issue?"

"Nadia, I can barely walk across the mansion without someone asking if I need to sit down."

Nadia laughed. "You’re acting like you’re eighty."

I groaned at that. "I feel eighty."

"You don’t have to dance." She tried to placate me.

My brows drew together. "Then what’s the point of going?"

Her arms came to rest on my shoulders, grounding me. "You can sit there and judge people."

I laughed. "I already do that for free."

"Exactly. So imagine doing it with music."

I shook my head and adjusted the pillow behind me. "You go."

Her smile disappeared. "Without you?"

"Yes." I nodded.

"Absolutely not." She immediately refused the idea like it personally offended her.

"Why not?"

Nadia gave me a deadpan look. "Because I don’t want to go alone."

I shrugged. "You were the one who suggested it."

"And now I’m suggesting you come with me." She groaned.

I stared at her for a moment before laughing. "You make no sense."

She fell backward onto the bed beside me, staring at the ceiling. "Whatever, I just miss it."

Her voice had softened, and I looked at her. "Miss what?"

"Before everything became so complicated." She turned her head toward me. "Before we had to worry about everything that’s happening now. I miss when we could just go somewhere and have fun without wondering if somebody was waiting outside."

I understood exactly what she meant. "So do I."

She sat up. "Then let’s go."

I laughed. "Absolutely not."

She groaned again. "Why?"

"Because you just listed every reason why we shouldn’t." My lips couldn’t help but curl into a smile.

"But you’re the one who’s pregnant."

"And you’re the one who’s apparently forgotten that there are people trying to kill me."

Nadia’s expression changed. "You’re right." She sighed before looking toward the window. "Then we can at least go outside."

"Now that I can agree with."

A few minutes later, we left the room and walked outside. The afternoon air was cooler than I expected, and for once, neither of us had a guard hovering close enough to interrupt every conversation. We walked slowly along the path, Nadia occasionally looking over at me to make sure I wasn’t struggling.

"You know," I said after a while, "for someone who claims she doesn’t care about men, you have very specific opinions about them."

She immediately looked at me. "What are you talking about?"

"Your taste." I told her.

"My taste in what?" Confusion clouded her features.

"Men."

She laughed. "I don’t have a type."

"You absolutely do." I wagged a finger at her.

"I don’t." She rejected the idea.

"You like them tall. You like them serious. You like men who look like they’re about to kill someone." I listed it off on my fingers

She burst out laughing. "That is not true."

I gave her a look. "It is."

Nadia straightened, a challenging look in her eyes. "Who exactly have I liked?"

I turned toward her with a knowing smile. "Rhett."

Her entire expression changed. "Rhett?"

"Yes." I shrugged.

She shook her head so quickly that I laughed. "Don’t start."

"You were holding him the other day. And it was so fucking cute." I gushed.

"I almost fell!" She rubbed a hand over her face.

I laughed harder. "That doesn’t sound very convincing."

Nadia stopped walking and turned to face me. "Keisha, I have seen that man maybe three times in my entire life. Three. How exactly am I supposed to fall in love with him?"

"You tell me." I crossed my hands.

"I can’t fall in love with someone I barely know." She muttered under her breath.

My tone changed into something softer. "Maybe the Moon Goddess has already decided."

She scoffed. "Please."

"I’m serious." I immediately said.

"No, you’re not."

"I am." I insisted.

She started walking backward in front of me, talking so quickly that I could barely keep up. "Listen, if I see him today, then maybe I’ll start considering that the Moon Goddess actually wants something between us. But until that happens, I’m not listening to you."

I opened my mouth to answer, but my attention shifted past her shoulder.

A familiar figure was walking toward us and I smiled.

Nadia continued talking without noticing. "And even if he does appear, that doesn’t mean anything. He could just be doing his job. He’s Dad’s guard. That’s literally his job. He could walk past me a hundred times and—"

"Look." I suddenly called her attention.

She stopped. "What?"

I nodded toward the person behind her. "Look."

Nadia slowly turned around and Rhett was standing a few feet away.

She froze and I couldn’t stop myself from laughing as I leaned closer to her "Maybe the Moon Goddess does want you together."
