Civilization Chronicles: Rise of the Divine Creator

Chapter 489: Tina’s 16th Birthday – Lace

In order to make Christina’s dress stand out even more than the ones Celestina and Eris were wearing, Lucas had scoured his inherited memories and eventually decided on introducing the concept of lace weave to Isaac and Felicity.

Now, while there was quite a bit of information about what lace looked like in the memories of his benefactor from the other universe, much of it in the form of women’s underwear for some strange reason... Lucas found absolutely no references to how lace was actually made.

That was hardly surprising, though, so with no other choice, Lucas did his best to sketch out his idea and then gave the rough designs to his two aspiring and innovative tailors.

From there, they took the lead.

Isaac focused on getting the overall appearance for the dress right, while leaving room of the ’special touches’ that would be added afterwards, while Felicity had thrown herself into studying how to make lace.

Several sleepless days working together with the other craftsmen and craftswomen of the shop had allowed Felicity and her cohorts to develop something which, in their opinion, wasn’t half-bad.

After getting Lucas’ approval, the lace-team moved forward, making several more refinements to their process and design over the following half-month before Felicity and her team wove the final product from a special type of silver-dyed thread.

In the end, the lace-work that adorned the trim of Christina’s dress was hardly as fancy or elaborate as its inspiration from the other universe, but for a first attempt, it was still extremely impressive.

Completely satisfied with the current success, but unwilling to just stop there, Lucas had encouraged Felicity to keep researching into creating lace, figuring that in the future, it would become more and more in-demand.

As for how far Felicity could really take things in the future, the young boy couldn’t say. The socially anxious female tailor he had hired was clearly a creative genius, but it would naturally take time for her to really pioneer, explore, and perfect this brand-new field of tailoring.

All of that, however, could wait.

For now, what mattered was that Christina’s dress, which was already unique, now also had a type of decorative work on it that had never been seen before, one that literally shone and glimmered under the light of the late-afternoon-sun.

A glittering silver tiara, silver necklace, and silver earrings all fitted with purple gemstones finished off the ensemble and fully brought out Christina’s natural, regal aura.

If Celestina’s bold red dress was the physical manifestation of desire, and Eris’ breezy green dress was the epitome of freedom, then Christina’s silver lace purple dress was the stuff of dreams, what every young girl and woman in the crowd imagined themselves wearing if they too were a princess.

As for the men, most of them were also mesmerized by Christina, though no small portion of the younger generation had also begun glaring daggers at Lucas, filled with jealousy that he was the one who got to escort her on this momentous occasion.

If Lucas felt the sting of these envious looks, however, he wasn’t showing it.

Whether that was because he didn’t care, or he was too focused on sucking in his guts so he didn’t burst out of shirt...

Anyways, the walk from the Manor hall’s doors to the top of the garden staircase was, thankfully, short, and once they arrived, Lucas released Christina’s arm, bowed politely to her, then took his place alongside his Master and other Junior Sister.

Looking out across the crowd, Christina flashed a confident smile while trying not to blush at her overly enthusiastic mother’s antics.

Just as Lucas had suspected, Cynthia Morgan had brought along a Spirit Tool designed to capture still images. It had a long fancy name, but for simplicity’s sake, the young boy just referred to it as a Spirit Camera.

Cynthia’s plan was simple, photograph every moment of her daughter’s birthday, then make her husband seethe with jealousy when she showed them off to him later.

The Third Queen also suspected that when she showed her other half-daughters, the ones she shared with Marianne and Natasha, they would also go green with envy at their youngest sister’s new dress.

Unfortunately, the current royal family headed by King Nathanial didn’t have any granddaughters, so Cynthia couldn’t begin planning to have such dresses made for them... yet.

This lack of grandchildren was actually mostly the king’s own fault. 9 of Nathanial’s 12 children were girls, and he may have been a bit overprotective of of them, forbidding any of them from getting married or even dating until he approved of the man they were interested in.

As for Christina’s older brothers, most of them had some dating experience, but none of them were in serious relationships yet.

Glancing over at the young boy responsible for her daughter’s new look, and who she highly suspected was responsible for Christina rapidly maturing as a young woman, Cynthia couldn’t help grinning, wondering just what her busybody husband would think when he saw the two of them really get together.

Something to look forward to.

In any case, Christina said a few words to the gathered people, welcoming them, thanking them, wishing them well, and asking them to enjoy the evening’s food and entertainment.

She may have also subtly slipped in some advertisements for her bakery business and her Junior Brother’s dresses, not that any of that was necessary as it was fairly obvious everyone was just waiting for the banquet to begin so they could race over and ’politely inquire’ about where Celestina, Eris, and Christina had gotten their new trend-setting outfits.

And with that, what Lucas called the ’cocktail’ part of the evening began.

The maids and waiters who were on standby got the signal and began making the rounds, carrying trays of refreshments for the guests to sample as they shmoozed with one another.

Naturally, almost all the initial conversations were about what the birthday girl, her Senior Sister, and her Master were wearing, but once the food and drink started being sampled, the topics quickly shifted again.

"What are these..."

"How was this cooked?"

"I’ve never had anything like this before!"

"This drink, it’s so sweet and... bubbly?"

"You’re right! It’s like its popping in my... *belch*"

"How rude! Can’t you... *burp*"

"Wha... what’s going on!?"
