Chapter 36: The Fake God’s End
When the giant fireball came from the sky toward the Giant Stone Monsters, it was enormous.
If it hit the Giant Stone Monsters, they would survive.
But if it hit the slaves...
They would all die.
When the fireball reached them...
Boom!!
A massive explosion covered the entire area.
Fire and thick smoke spread everywhere.
The temple members and the villagers became happy.
They thought the Giant Stone Monsters were dead.
They believed they were finally safe.
Inside the temple, the people looked outside through the windows and doors.
After seeing the place covered in flames, they began celebrating.
But...
As the smoke slowly cleared...
One person noticed something.
"Look over there..."
Everywhere was still burning.
But one Giant Stone Monster was standing there.
It had covered the man who had been alone with its own body to protect him.
The other three Giant Stone Monsters had also covered the other slaves.
When they slowly stood up...
All of the human slaves were completely unharmed.
Nothing had happened to them.
The Giant Stone Monsters’ bodies were still covered in flames.
But because they were made of stone...
Fire didn’t affect them at all.
They calmly brushed the flames off their bodies.
Seeing that...
Everyone became terrified again.
The mages immediately raised their staffs.
They began creating another spell.
But before they could finish...
One Giant Stone Monster threw a huge stone toward them.
The barrier protected them.
Then another Giant Stone Monster reached the barrier.
It threw a punch.
Nothing happened.
Then it punched again.
And again.
Every punch shook the ground.
After several powerful punches...
Crack!
The barrier finally shattered.
The mages desperately tried to create another barrier.
But before they could...
Another giant stone came flying toward them from the sky.
Before they even understood what had happened...
All of the mages died there.
Now only the temple members and the village guards were left outside.
Inside the temple...
The people watched everything in horror.
Outside...
The temple members and the guards were being killed by the Giant Stone Monsters.
Some were crushed beneath their giant feet and died instantly.
Others were grabbed one by one.
The Giant Stone Monsters even began eating them.
The people inside the temple realized...
Everyone outside was dying.
Then...
The Giant Stone Monsters slowly turned toward the temple.
Inside, everyone immediately closed the doors and windows.
A few minutes passed.
Nothing happened.
The people inside slowly felt relieved.
They thought the Giant Stone Monsters had already left.
Just as they started talking to each other...
Boom!!
One of the temple walls suddenly collapsed.
As the dust settled...
They saw the four Giant Stone Monsters standing there.
Their glowing red eyes stared down at everyone.
Their bodies were taller than the temple itself.
The people screamed.
Everyone ran for their lives.
But the Giant Stone Monsters killed every one of them.
They didn’t leave a single person alive.
The people cried.
They begged for mercy.
But the Giant Stone Monsters showed no mercy.
Because when these people killed the slaves like trash...
They had shown no mercy either.
Now...
Only a few people remained alive.
The Giant Stone Monsters slowly smiled.
It was as if they were enjoying killing every single one of them.
Then, on the mountain top...
Every villager was dead.
Only the slaves were left alive.
The Shadow Monsters quietly removed the metal collars from their necks, hands, and legs.
Now they were finally free.
But they still didn’t understand why the monsters had helped them.
Before they could even thank the Shadow Monsters...
The Shadow Monsters disappeared.
White smoke spread everywhere.
As the dust slowly cleared...
They saw Arya standing there.
He slowly removed his white wings.
One man looked at him in shock.
"Are you... the man who helped us?"
Arya calmly nodded.
"Yeah."
"I saved you."
The man lowered his head.
"But... why did you help us?"
"Do you want something from us?"
"We don’t have anything."
"We’ve lost everything."
"We can’t give you anything."
Arya quietly shook his head.
"Don’t worry."
"I didn’t help you because I wanted anything."
"I only want the answer to one question."
After hearing those words...
All of them looked at each other in confusion.
The man asked,
"What answer do you want from us?"
Arya looked at them and said,
"I just want to know where you came from."
"I know you came from another kingdom."
"But which part of it?"
"And which village?"
The man slowly told Arya everything.
After listening carefully...
Arya finally understood.
But...
It still wasn’t the answer he was looking for.
Because they weren’t from his village...
Nor from any village near it.
They were from a village near the sea.
Sea monsters had attacked their village.
Their homes and everything they owned had been destroyed.
After that happened...
They went to ask their lord for help.
But instead of helping them...
The lord drove them out of his domain.
After that...
They wandered here.
After hearing the whole story, Arya quietly nodded.
"Okay."
"Now I understand what happened to you."
"You’re free now."
"I’m still searching for my own people."
Before they could thank him...
Arya disappeared from there.
Then, before Arya disappeared from there, they still didn’t fully understand what had happened today.
Everything had happened too fast.
But they were happy.
Because they were finally safe.
After talking among themselves, they decided to leave for another place.
But this time...
They would stay alert.
Then...
On the other side...
Arya teleported back inside the room.
The moment he appeared, he saw Miyuki standing beside the window, quietly looking outside.
Arya slowly walked toward her.
When he reached her, he gently placed his hand on her shoulder.
Miyuki was shocked.
She immediately tried to attack because she thought an enemy had appeared behind her.
But the moment she turned around...
She saw Arya.
She immediately stopped and let out a sigh of relief.
Then she quickly asked,
"What happened?"
"And why did the villagers want to attack us?"
Arya calmly told her everything.
He explained about the village.
He explained how the villagers killed innocent people just to worship a fake god.
He also told her that he had saved the slaves.
Then...
Miyuki asked,
"Then... all of them are dead?"
Arya nodded.
"No."
Miyuki looked confused.
"But you said you killed everyone."
"How did the slaves survive?"
Arya replied,
"I told you before."
"I only killed those who were on the mountain."
"I could still sense some people inside this village."
"I know they’re villagers."
Then Arya looked at Miyuki.
"Did anything happen while I was gone?"
"I could ask the Shadow Monsters..."
"But they can’t talk unless they control someone’s body."
"That’s why I’m asking you."
Miyuki nodded.
"Yes."
"While I was sleeping, someone kicked our door."
"I asked who was there..."
"But no one answered."
"Later, I think the Shadow Monsters killed them."
"They came here to kill us."
"I don’t know who sent them."
"But when the Shadow Monsters controlled one of their bodies, they learned that they were ordered to take us to the mountain."
"They only wanted one of us."
"So they decided to kill one of us and capture the other."
"But before they could do anything..."
"The Shadow Monsters killed them."
Then she looked at Arya.
"What now?"
"Are we going to kill the villagers who are still left here?"
"What should we do?"
Arya quietly shook his head.
"Not now."
"We don’t have to kill them unless they become a threat to us."
"Now I understand."
"Some of the villagers don’t believe in that fake god."
"That’s why they stayed here."
"They aren’t a danger to us."
"If they try to attack us..."
"Then we can kill them."
"But for now..."
"It’s okay."
"Let’s get some rest."
"Tomorrow we’ll leave this place."
"And don’t worry."
"Outside, the Shadow Monsters and the other monsters are still guarding this house and protecting us."
"Just relax..."
"And get some sleep."
A few minutes later...
Both of them quietly lay down on their own beds and slowly fell asleep.
The next day...
They left the village.
Before they left, Arya gave the ring back to Miyuki.
If other people saw her fox ears and tail, it would become a problem.
After Miyuki put the ring back on her finger, her ears and tail disappeared.
Now she looked like a normal human again.
This time, they didn’t fly.
Arya knew that if anyone saw them flying, it would create unnecessary trouble.
So they quietly left the village on foot.
As they were leaving, they found two horses and a carriage.
They decided to use them.
Miyuki sat inside the carriage.
Meanwhile, Arya held the reins and drove the carriage.
Soon...
They completely left the village behind.
Now they were heading toward the next place.
Their destination was the nearest town.
Arya wanted to get an Adventurer ID Card.
Once they had it, they would be able to travel freely to any place.
Arya didn’t have any kind of ID.
Because they came from an abandoned village, they had never received one.
But now...
After getting the item from the mansion, he had a fake identity.
With that fake identity, he hoped he could obtain an Adventurer Card.
Still...
He didn’t know whether it would work or not.
Because he originally came from a different kingdom.
