Chapter 112 chapter 112 : kidnapping part 9
The sheets barely covered his body, his figure, exposed to the cold of the room and to my gaze, seemed almost unreal with a fragility. He was naked, vulnerable, like a broken statue in the middle of a desecrated temple. My heart was pounding with a toxic mix of rage and despair that was becoming harder and harder to contain, along with dark thoughts that pounded inside my head like caged beasts trying to devour my sanity that was already starting to collapse like dominoes.
My eyes slid, helplessly over his scarred skin: bruises, scratches on his chest, traces of struggle.... I couldn't determine which hurt more. His chest was rising and falling slowly, unconscious, but alive. A kind of dark mist hovered over him, like a faint fog that kept him in a deep sleep from which he could not escape. Binding spell. Charm of obedience. Crowd control magic, all sorts of spells were reflected in my glasses.
Aziel gritted his teeth hard, his knuckles white with tension. Erwing looked down, helpless, his clenched fists shaking at his sides, as if holding back was torture. Perhaps, feeling guilty.
And then she laughed.
A low laugh, barely a sigh, but poisonous enough for us to hear.
-Even if you look at me like that... I had a great time last night," she murmured, running her tongue slowly across her lips, as if savoring the memory.
He moved slowly around the room with an unsettling elegance. With firm steps around the bed, as if he were displaying a trophy. His robe, an almost translucent garment, drifted over the floor like liquid smoke, and his fingers, long and pale, caressed the edges of the mattress with a gesture that was more possessive than delicate.
-The first time I saw him...that lost, broken look. Like a wounded puppy," he said softly, almost tenderly, "so easy to mold. So...beautiful in his vulnerability. How could I resist?
His words like daggers dug precisely into my chest.
I said nothing, not a single word but felt the air around him begin to tremble. My eyes, normally serene, glittered with anger, the trembling in my hands became unbearable, yet I tried to endure it, my nails embedded in my palms, dripping blood on the tiles, as I listened to her speak until I exploded.
-Shut up! -I spat, unable to control the flow of my emotions.
She turned to me, her smile curving like a snake.
-No? What a pity. Because he did know how to shut up. And obey. Ah... He did it so well...
I couldn't hold back any longer, my vision turned red.
I felt my mana, my essence, erupt inside me like a volcano contained for too long. The air around me compressed, then roared outward with a burst of heat. A scarlet aura enveloped me, furrowed with golden lines that flashed like lightning in a storm. My feet lifted slightly off the ground as the fire took shape.
Dozens of igneous spears formed around me, one after another, in the air like a solar storm. They spun slowly in a scorching orbit around me, like planets doomed to the sun's rays. The heat was suffocating, the air vibrated with a deafening hum, and Erwing and Aziel were forced to retreat a little further, covering their faces with their forearms.
The spears were nothing more than remnants in a moment of rage, sharp extensions, with a violent, unsteady flow of mana, so fierce that the ground beneath my feet began to crack. Each spear sang with a high-pitched hiss, as if the fire itself cried vengeance.
-「λόγχη ανάφλεξης (ignis spear) 」 -I muttered.
With a flick of my wrist, and without another word, all the spears shot toward her like a rain of fire.
A hellish roar rent the air.
KRRAAASH!
KRRAAASH!
The room lit up as if a second sun had been born there. The spears rained down on it like a storm, crashing against the floor and walls, destroying everything in their path. The explosion raised dust, debris and fire. Broken columns, shattered glass, charred furniture.
But at the end of my gaze, through the burning mist, a laugh emerged.
-Ha... ha... ha... ha... -mocked a voice distorted by the echo.
A figure stood among the ruins, staggering but intact, covered by an amalgam of shadows that danced around him, devouring the firelight. His laughter was that of a predator toying with its prey before pulling the trigger.
Anger roared inside me with a force that almost made me lose control.
-What are you waiting for, attack!!!! -I shouted, my voice broken by rage, pain and helplessness.
Erwing reacted first, releasing his sword wrapped in golden lightning. Aziel was quick to follow, his obsidian blade giving off an icy air that cut through the air as he ran with a murderous look on his face.
The woman held out her hands with unnatural grace, and from her palms gushed a dark mist, thick as tar, that solidified into a shield of black shadows with strange symbols glowing eerily on its surface.
Clink! Clink!
The swords clashed against the shield with violence. The impact caused shock waves to spread through the room. The woman could not resist the onslaught of two warriors and was thrown into the air like a rag doll.
BOOM!
Her body slammed into one of the distant walls in a dull thud. The wall, cracked by the impact, did not absorb the blow. It collapsed like a shower of debris and dust, completely obscuring her in a gray cloud that devoured the light like a bloody curtain.
But even among the debris, her laughter did not cease.
A broken, shrill laugh that crawled like a claw down her spine. It was the sound of someone who is not afraid to die. Or worse, who already did long ago, a beast who already has nothing left to lose.
The battle was not over while erwing and aziel kept it at bay, fighting against the shadows, I quickly approached the bed where cyan was already lying.
