Knotting His Rejected Breeder

Chapter 229: The Wrong Words

SONIA’S POV

I sat on the edge of the bed with my hands shaking. The letter felt heavy in my lap even though it was just one piece of paper.

Ivy stood in front of me, her eyes wide with worry. She had come back into the room after checking the hallway, like she always did when she thought someone might be listening.

"Sonia, what’s wrong?" she asked. Her voice was soft but urgent. "You look like you’re about to fall apart."

I swallowed hard. My throat hurt. "There was a letter."

Ivy frowned. She stepped closer. "What letter?"

I looked down at the folded paper. My fingers tightened around it. "The one I read back in Silverpaw. The one that made me think Ramon wanted to ruin me. The one that talked about finishing the job and using me against my father."

Ivy’s face changed. Her eyes narrowed like she was trying to understand. "Sonia... what are you saying? What letter exactly?"

The tears came before I could stop them. They burned my eyes and ran down my cheeks. I pressed the letter to my chest. "I thought it was from him. It had his name. It sounded like him. But now... I don’t know anymore."

Ivy sat down fast beside me. Her hand rubbed my back in slow circles. "Breathe, Sonia. Just breathe, and tell me everything."

I cried harder. My shoulders shook. The baby kicked inside me, like it could feel how upset I was. I wiped my face with the back of my hand, but the tears kept coming.

"It said he was glad to create life with Lorena. It said he was coming to get me back only to make me suffer more. It said I was just a tool. I believed it, Ivy. I believed he never cared."

Ivy’s hand stopped moving. She stared at me. "Show me."

I handed her the letter with shaking fingers. She took it carefully and unfolded the paper. Her eyes moved across the words. I watched her face the whole time. First confusion.

Then shock. Then something close to anger.

"This isn’t his handwriting," she said quietly.

She turned the paper over like she was looking for something hidden. "I know Ramon’s writing. I’ve seen it since we were kids. This is too neat and way too careful. And Blane’s writing is different too. More uglier and rougher. This doesn’t match either of them."

I wiped my eyes again. "Then who wrote it?"

Ivy kept staring at the words as she read them out loud in a low voice. "Lorena, I can’t tell you just how glad I am to finally be able to create life with you... Sonia is back to Silverpaw, and I can’t have that happen. That’s why I’m going to get her back, solely because I haven’t finished what I started with her father."

She stopped reading and her hand tightened on the paper. "This isn’t Ramon. He doesn’t talk like this and I’m sure you know, not even when he’s angry. And he would never write something this...this...cold about you, not before not now and not anymore."

I started crying again. The sound came out broken. "Then why did I believe it? Why did I push him away?"

Ivy pulled me into a hug. Her arms were warm and tight. She rubbed my back again, slower this time. "Because you were hurt. Because your father made sure you saw it. Because you were scared and pregnant and alone. Anyone would have believed it in your place. And also, part of Ramon deserved this and I’m glad he did. He’s my brother, I know but he has been a fucking loser and a mad dog towards you, Sonia,"

She held me until my crying slowed down. Then she pulled back and looked me in the eyes. "This wasn’t Ramon. It wasn’t Blane either. The handwriting is wrong. The words are wrong. It sounds like someone trying to sound like him. Maybe Lorena wrote it herself. Or one of your brothers who doesn’t want you two together. Someone who knew exactly how to hurt you."

I nodded slowly. My chest still hurt, but the words helped a little. "What do we do now?"

Ivy folded the letter carefully and put it in her pocket. "I’m keeping this. I’m going to show it to Ramon myself. He needs to see it. He needs to know someone was and still playing games with both of you."

I grabbed her hand. "You believe me?"

"I believe you, Sonia, and you have all right to get mad too," she said. Her voice was firm.

"And I believe my brother. He’s been different since you left. Quieter. Angrier. And more calculating. And also, do you know that he comes to check on this house every week. He thinks I don’t know, but I do. Matter of fact, Blane told me and also Daniel, they followed him and for five months, he has been visiting you without your knowledge,"

My heart beat faster. "He does?"

Ivy nodded. "He does. And I’m sure he knows you’re pregnant and also that the child is his because he might have felt the pull from you and also the baby. But I don’t know why he haven’t shown his face to you or the baby too,"

I stared at Ivy.

"He knows..."

"I think so." She sighed. "But I don’t know if he knows for sure. Ramon has always been stubborn, and when it comes to you, he has become even worse."

I lowered my gaze to my stomach.

The baby moved beneath my palm.

"He could have come to me."

"I know."

"He could have asked."

"I know, Sonia."

"Then why didn’t he?"

Ivy didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, she reached over and placed her hand over mine.

"Maybe he was afraid you wouldn’t want to see him."

I let out a bitter laugh.

"After everything he did? He should know I wouldn’t."

"Maybe that’s exactly why he stayed away."

I looked at her.

Ivy shrugged helplessly. "Sometimes people stay away because they know they deserve to be hated."

My chest tightened.

I didn’t want to feel sorry for Ramon.

I had spent too long trying to hate him.

"What about Blane?" I suddenly asked.

She blinked. "Blane?"

"Yes. How is he doing?"

The question caught her off guard. She looked down at the letter in her hand.

"He’s fine, I think."

"You think?"

I sighed.

"He’s been busy. He’s always running around, handling one thing or another. But he still comes to see me when he can."

A small smile touched my lips.

"Although he complains every time."

Ivy laughed softly.

"That sounds like him."

"He asked about you."

My smile faded slightly. "He did?"

She nodded. "He wanted to know how you were doing."

Ivy looked away for a moment, she said nothing. Then she rubbed her thumb over her fingers.

"I miss him."

The words were quiet and I looked at her. Ivy gave a small, embarrassed laugh.

"I miss Blane so much, Sonia. I can’t wait for all of this to be over."

Her eyes lowered.

"I just want him to mark me fully already. I want to be with him without all this chaos, without worrying, without wondering what will happen next."

I sighed.

"I can’t wait until we can finally go back to our normal lives."

I smiled faintly. "I’m sure Blane misses you too."

"He better."

Ivy wiped at the corner of her eye, then looked at me again.

"And you?"

My smile faded. "What about me?"

"Do you miss Ramon?"

I looked down and for a long moment, I couldn’t answer.

Then the baby moved beneath my hand. My fingers slowly curled over my stomach.

"I don’t know."

But somewhere deep inside me, I knew that was a lie.
