"Just remember, you can be a good-for-nothing, but don't embarrass yourself."
Shen Ruyu, the shrew, immediately got on her high horse and ranted, "You should be grateful. This job was found for you by your sister's husband. If you can't even handle being a security guard, you might as well die, you good-for-nothing."
"Mom, what about the medical bills?"
Yao Nan cautiously asked.
"We'll get them once he starts working."
Shen Ruyu seemed to get angrier the more she looked at Xu Bin. She huffed, "Go wash up. You look miserable."
"Let's go!"
Yao Nan didn't dare linger and quickly pulled Xu Bin upstairs with him.
The second floor had three rooms and a small living room. The couple's bedroom was the smallest, a children's room with a bed, a wardrobe, and Xu Bin's computer, making it very cramped. The small window let in a smell of smoke.
Yao Le'er, the younger sister, was in her first year of high school and only came home on weekends. The elder sister, Yao Xin, was already married, so usually, the second floor was a quiet haven for the couple.
As soon as Xu Bin sat down, Yao Nan went to their room to get clothes and said, "Honey, you go wash up first."
