My Overpowered Bunny Girls

Chapter 186: Floating Ruins

The boat moved through the green water, and the Leviathan followed.

Nathan sat near the prow, watching the massive shape beneath the surface. It kept its distance, but its presence was impossible to ignore. The water shifted around it. The current bent toward its body. And every few minutes, Nathan felt it—a pulse of something old and deep, like a heartbeat moving through the sea.

Coral was quiet. She had been quiet since they left the Sunken Temple. Nathan did not push her. She had seen things in the temple that she would not talk about. He understood that.

"The Floating Ruins are three hours east," she said finally. Her voice was soft, almost lost in the wind. "The Sky Priests once lived there. They were the keepers of the winds. Now the corrupted ones glide between the stones. They will not welcome you."

"Will they talk?" Nathan asked.

"No. The corruption has taken their minds. They only hunt."

Nathan looked at the party. They were resting—Garrett checking Volcan, Dillon feeding Cloudy, Elise reading from a small book she’d brought from the Archives. Smithy was at the back of the boat, his Void Eel coiled at his feet. Mirko, Kuro, and Shiro were in their small forms, watching the water.

"We’ve faced worse," Nathan said. "We’ll handle it."

Coral said nothing. She just steered the boat east.

---

The Floating Ruins rose from the sea like bones of a fallen giant.

Hundreds of stone platforms hovered in the air, connected by broken bridges and dangling vines. Some were small, barely large enough for a single person. Others were massive, big enough to hold entire buildings. The ruins of temples and homes crumbled on their surfaces. The wind was strong here, carrying the smell of salt and decay.

Nathan used [Hunter’s Insight] immediately. The mana signature was dense—corrupted Tidecallers everywhere, their bodies glowing with green light. They moved between the platforms with an eerie grace, their webbed arms spread like wings. They did not fly. They glided, riding the wind currents with the skill of creatures born to the sky.

"The crystal is at the highest point," Coral said, pointing. Nathan looked up. At the top of the ruins, a temple of pale stone gleamed in the green light. Its roof was open to the sky. The Tide Crystal’s glow was visible even from here—a pale blue light that pushed against the corruption.

"We climb," Nathan said. "Stay close. Watch the edges. The wind will try to throw us off."

The party disembarked onto the lowest platform. The stone was slick with moisture. Vines hung from above, thick and pulsing. Nathan could feel the corruption in the air—a pressure, like the moment before a storm.

"Movement," Kuro said. She had shifted to humanoid form, her dark eyes scanning the ruins. "Dozens of them. They’ve seen us."

Nathan drew Moonlight. "Formation."

The first wave came from the left. Three corrupted Tidecallers glided in from a higher platform, their bodies twisted and overgrown. They moved with the wind, silent as shadows. Nathan fired [Mana Arrows]—two dropped, but the third twisted mid-air and avoided the shot.

"Fast," Dillon said. Cloudy crackled on his shoulder. "They’re fast."

"Then we’re faster." Nathan activated [Multi-Shadow Clones]. Three identical Nathans appeared beside him. The gliding Tidecallers hesitated, their empty eyes confused. Nathan used the moment to fire [Death’s Homing Compass]—the arrow curved and struck the third glider in the chest. It dissolved into green mist.

"Move up," Nathan called. "We don’t stop until we reach the temple."

---

The climb was brutal.

The platforms shifted underfoot. The wind screamed. Corrupted Tidecallers attacked from every angle, gliding in waves, their claws and coral-tipped staves striking with frightening speed. The party fought as a unit, covering each other’s blind spots, pulling each other back from the edges.

Mirko led the front. Dragon’s Fang blazed, carving through the gliders. [Impenetrable Fortress] flared around her, and the corrupted Tidecallers broke against it like waves against stone. "Hmph! They are fast, but they are fragile! This Knight has faced swifter enemies and broken them all!"

Shiro moved like a golden comet. [Dragon King’s Ascension] carried her between platforms, and [Tyrant Dragon Fist] shattered corrupted bodies. "The Young Lord’s path must be cleared! I will clear it!"

Garrett and Red anchored the center. Volcan erupted whenever a glider got too close. Red’s horns caught a corrupted Tidecaller mid-glide and flung it into the sea. "They’re trying to separate us! Don’t let them!"

Dillon and Cloudy controlled the sky. Cloudy’s static discharge arced across the gliders, and Dillon’s [Thunder Edge] carved through the ones that survived. "I’ve got the left flank! Keep pushing!"

Smithy’s Void Eel phased through the platforms, disrupting the corrupted ones from below. "They’re coordinating! The corruption is directing them!"

Elise stood at the rear, and for the first time in what felt like ages, she summoned the Frost Golem.

It rose from the stone platform with a sound like cracking ice—ten feet of crystalline fury, its body gleaming in the green light. The wind howled, but the Golem was unmoved. It planted its feet and raised its massive fists.

"Cover the Golem!" Elise called. She raised Aurora’s Heart, and the staff blazed with frozen light. "Golem—secure the path!"

The Frost Golem charged. Its fists slammed into a stone bridge, and the impact sent a wave of ice across the platforms. The corrupted Tidecallers gliding toward the party suddenly found their path frozen—the bridges slick with impossible frost, the wind buffeted by walls of crystal. One glider tried to land on a frozen platform and shattered on impact.

"The Golem can reshape the terrain!" Elise called. "I’ll create stable routes! Use them!"

The party adapted. Mirko and Shiro led the charge across the frozen bridges. Garrett and Red held the middle. Dillon and Cloudy cleared the air. The corrupted gliders, thrown off by the sudden change, fell in droves.

Nathan moved with [Nimble Feet], his enhanced agility letting him race across the icy platforms without slipping. He fired [Starfall Barrage] into a cluster of gliders, and the celestial arrows tore through them. He activated [Multi-Shadow Clones] again, and the corrupted Tidecallers attacked the illusions while Nathan repositioned.

The party climbed higher. The platforms grew smaller. The wind grew fiercer. But the Frost Golem’s ice walls gave them shelter, and Elise’s [Mana Shield] blocked the worst of the gusts.

---

They reached the Temple of the Sky at the summit.

The platform was circular and wide, open to the green sky. The wind was strongest here, howling in a constant, screaming gale. The second Tide Crystal floated at the center, its pale light fighting the corruption. And above it, suspended in a vortex of green-tinged air, hung the guardian.

She was a priestess, or had been once. Her body was wrapped in tattered white robes that whipped in the wind. Her eyes were hollow sockets filled with green fire. Her hair was a mass of seaweed and living vines. She floated without wings, held aloft by the corruption itself.

"The sky was once free," she said. Her voice was the wind—whispering, mocking, everywhere at once. "The Shepherd showed us the truth. Even the sky can be consumed. Now the sky serves us. As it will serve you."

Nathan raised Moonlight. "We’re here for the crystal. We don’t want to fight you."

"You will fight regardless." The priestess raised her hand, and the wind screamed. "The corruption demands it."

The battle began.

The priestess commanded the wind. Blades of compressed air flew at the party. Vortexes tried to lift them off their feet. Nathan’s [Hunter’s Insight] tracked her movements, but she was fast—gliding through the air like the corrupted ones below, only stronger.

Mirko and Shiro tried to close the distance, but the priestess’s wind threw them back. [Impenetrable Fortress] flared, and Mirko planted her feet. "Hmph! You are not the first wind-witch this Knight has faced! I have stood against hurricanes!"

"Then stand against this!" The priestess thrust her hand forward, and a concentrated gale hit Mirko like a battering ram. She slid backward, her boots grinding against the stone.

But Elise was already moving.

The Frost Golem stepped into the wind, its massive body too heavy to be moved. It raised its fists and slammed them into the platform. Ice erupted outward, and the wind froze. The vortexes stuttered. The priestess’s flight faltered.

"The Golem can disrupt her wind!" Nathan called. "Dillon—lightning! The air is wet!"

Cloudy and Dillon attacked together. Cloudy’s static discharge arced through the damp air, and Dillon’s [Thunder Edge] followed. The priestess convulsed. Her control over the wind wavered.

Nathan activated [Death’s Homing Compass] and marked her heart. He charged [Focus Shot]. Thirty seconds. The priestess tried to dodge, but the wind was failing her. The Golem’s ice was spreading, freezing the air itself. Forty seconds. Mirko and Shiro closed in, forcing the priestess to split her attention. Fifty. Sixty.

Nathan released.

The arrow blazed through the frozen air, homing in on the sigil. It punched through the priestess’s chest, and she screamed—a sound like a storm dying. Her body dissolved into green mist.

The second Tide Crystal floated into Nathan’s hand.

---

The wind calmed. The corruption receded. The Floating Ruins were quiet.

Nathan held the second crystal. Its light joined the first, pushing back the green gloom. The party gathered on the platform, breathing hard. The Frost Golem stood guard, its icy body gleaming.

"Two down," Garrett said. "One to go."

Nathan nodded. "The Abyssal Trench. But first, we rest."

They descended from the ruins. Coral was waiting at the boat. The sea was calmer now, the corruption thinner. And far below, the Leviathan moved.

But this time, it did not just follow.

It sang.

The sound rose from the depths—low and mournful, a melody that vibrated through the water and the air. It was not a roar. It was not a threat. It was something older. Something like hope.

Coral’s eyes widened. "He’s singing. I haven’t heard him sing since I was a child."

Nathan looked at the water. The Leviathan’s massive form moved beneath the surface, and for the first time, it did not feel like a predator.

It felt like a prisoner, reaching out.
