Chapter 38: Mikoto’s Promise

"Thank you."

Mikoto said gratefully.

What Natsuki had just said was undoubtedly the best solution.

In a proper spar, she had no certainty of victory.

If she lost again, Fugaku and the Uchiha Clan would definitely be even more disappointed in her.

"It's nothing."

Natsuki smiled and said, "Just treat it as payment for helping me obtain a summoning beast."

"To me, it isn't nothing."

Mikoto shook her head and said seriously, "I owe you a favor."

Seeing her say this, Natsuki could not refuse.

He could only say that life in the Uchiha Clan was not easy for a normal person.

He changed the topic and moved on to the main matter.

There was no better time than the present, so Natsuki and Mikoto began sparring right there.

After the three sparring matches ended, both of them were covered in sweat as they sat on the ground to rest.

"You. In the sparring just now."

Before Mikoto could finish speaking, she was interrupted.

"I didn't hold back."

Natsuki took a breath and said, "A win is a win, and a loss is a loss."

Four sparring matches in total. In the end, just as he had said, each of them won two.

Mikoto fell silent.

This result was too perfect, making it difficult for her not to suspect that Natsuki had controlled the outcome.

Natsuki was actually telling the truth.

His biggest problem right now was that he did not have enough chakra.

Fighting three matches in a row consumed a great deal of chakra.

Mikoto was different. She was four years older, and her chakra was much greater than Natsuki's.

Of course, Natsuki also gained something.

Ability Two and Ability Three of his Shippo Template had already been unlocked by one-third.

Unfortunately, the requirement was to defeat three shinobi, not defeat one shinobi three times.

"If there is anything I can help with in the future, remember to come find me."

Mikoto wiped the sweat from her forehead and made a promise.

"I definitely will."

Natsuki stood up and said, "It's about time. I have to go to Sensei's place. We'll meet again next time."

"See you next time."

Mikoto immediately replied.

Natsuki turned and walked toward Konoha.

Mikoto watched his back until he had disappeared for a long time, only then did she come back to her senses.

She let out a breath and left the Forest of Death.

After returning to the Uchiha Clan, Mikoto went directly to see Fugaku.

"What is it?"

Fugaku asked indifferently.

Right now, he had just become clan head and was busy with work.

Moreover, Mikoto was only twelve years old, so he naturally had no interest in romance.

"I went to find Natsuki again today."

Mikoto answered, "We fought three matches. I won two, and including yesterday's match, the total result was two wins and two losses."

"The news just arrived today. Natsuki has already become Orochimaru's official student."

Fugaku looked at her and said, "For you to win two out of three today, you did very well."

Mikoto was immediately somewhat surprised.

She had not expected Natsuki to have already officially become Orochimaru's student.

Under such circumstances, he was still willing to lose two matches to her. It truly was a considerable sacrifice.

Perhaps he would be punished by Orochimaru after returning.

"Although you won against Natsuki today, you still need to work hard."

Fugaku said in a deep voice.

Among the current Uchiha Clan, the ones who could be called geniuses were him and Mikoto.

As a great ninja clan, the Uchiha Clan also needed geniuses to uphold its reputation.

In addition, there had always been an invisible competition between the Uchiha Clan and the Hyuga Clan.

The current Hyuga Clan also had two geniuses, Hyuga Hiashi and Hyuga Hizashi.

"Yes, Clan Head."

Mikoto nodded and said.

"Go train."

Seeing that the matter had been discussed, Fugaku gave the order for her to leave.

Mikoto turned and went home.

She took off her shoes, stepped barefoot onto the carpet, and entered the living room.

Mikoto leaned against the sofa and looked up at the ceiling.

After a moment of daze, Natsuki appeared in her mind again.

At the same time, Natsuki went to see Orochimaru and told him about sparring with Mikoto again.

"Being able to fight Mikoto to a draw is already very good."

After listening, Orochimaru said without much concern, "She has only studied four years longer than you. With your talent, you will surpass her very soon."

"But I hope to spar more with shinobi who use genjutsu and Fire Release to increase my combat experience."

Natsuki nodded and stated his true goal, "At school, it's difficult for me to find opponents like that."

He had brought up Mikoto so that Orochimaru would find him suitable opponents to unlock the Shippo Template.

"Since you want to increase your combat experience, then do it properly."

Orochimaru pondered for a moment and said, "I will find you a few missions involving genjutsu and Fire Release shinobi."

Do missions?

Although it was not part of Natsuki's plan, after thinking about it carefully, this suggestion was even better.

Because it could also unlock the Fushiguro Megumi Template, it could be considered killing two birds with one stone.

"Thank you, Sensei."

Natsuki immediately said.

In the blink of an eye, it was Friday.

"Natsuki, what rank do you think this mission will be?"

Nawaki asked as he walked.

"Most likely B-rank."

Natsuki answered.

"I think so too."

Nawaki shook his head and said, "I wonder when we'll be able to take on A-rank missions."

"A-rank missions involve Tokubetsu Jonin and Jonin. With our current strength, we are not ready."

Natsuki casually said, "Unless we encounter some Tokubetsu Jonin who are not good at combat."

Tokubetsu Jonin referred to shinobi who were especially outstanding in certain areas. In truth, they could be considered Chunin.

For example, Ebisu became a Tokubetsu Jonin because he was good at teaching.

Another example was Mitarashi Anko, who became a Tokubetsu Jonin because she was good at intelligence gathering and reconnaissance.

The two of them soon arrived at Konoha's village entrance.

"Sensei."

Natsuki and Nawaki hurried forward to greet him.

"This mission is A-rank. The target is Yasuda, an Iwa spy who has infiltrated the metropolis of the Land of Fire."

Orochimaru introduced, "He is a genjutsu shinobi skilled in intelligence gathering."

"It's actually A-rank?"

Nawaki asked with a pleasantly surprised expression.

"This time, the test is your ability to deal with a genjutsu shinobi."

Orochimaru glanced at him and said.

"Sensei, we definitely won't disappoint you."

Nawaki immediately promised, "After all, you specifically taught us how to dispel ninjutsu."

"Although Yasuda's strength has not reached Jonin level, he is still stronger than most Chunin."

Orochimaru reminded them, "If you want to defeat him, you must act carefully."

Natsuki looked thoughtful.

The unlock condition for the Shippo Template only required him to defeat the target. It did not specify whether it had to be head-on or through assassination.

The Fushiguro Megumi Template, on the other hand, required assassination.

He quickly came up with an idea, which was to first find a way to assassinate him, such as using poison.

If Yasuda did not die, he and Nawaki would go in to finish him off.

After the brief exchange ended, the three of them headed toward the metropolis of the Land of Fire.
