DxD: The Holy Knight!

Chapter 79: What is this place?

"People from the church?" Rias asked.

Yasuhiro nodded and said, "His lightning represents variability."

"My belief is that if Akeno sees him wield lightning, she'll learn even more than she would from the few people previously mentioned."

"But..." Rias hesitated.

As a member of the church, could he really treat devils as equals?

In fact, strengthening their demonic power would be a crime almost equivalent to betraying the church.

If the church found out, he would be labeled as a stray exorcist.

Akeno, however, had no such hesitation or worry.

She was clear about her own situation.

Although she was a member of the gremory clan and acted as Rias's queen, she was also an angel.

No one could deny her identity as an angel, which held a higher status than some in the church.

"We won't go to see him in person, that would be too troublesome and a waste of time."

"The plan is to use my memories of his lightning to create an illusion and let Akeno learn from it."

After Yasuhiro finished speaking, without waiting for Rias and Akeno to react he took out excalibur blessing and used it as a brush to continuously inscribe runes in the air.

Slowly, Rias and Akeno noticed that their environment was constantly distorting.

The world around them followed his inscriptions until everything faded away.

A moment later, the dizzying distortion faded away, revealing Rias and Akeno in a city full of medieval european architecture.

The two of them were kneeling in the middle of a bustling, prosperous road.

"Is this really an illusion?" Rias couldn't believe her eyes.

Her senses of hearing, smell, and sight were all fully engaged.

She could even clearly smell the aroma of food wafting from the restaurant next door.

"It must be an illusion, but it's just too realistic." Akeno watched the bustling crowd dressed in medieval attire.

The people completely ignored the two girls who had suddenly appeared in the middle of the road.

She even reached out to touch a passerby, only to find it was all a facade as her hand passed right through them.

"Does a maou class expert truly hold such power?" Rias asked herself.

She realized that Yasuhiro's strength had once again exceeded her expectations and refreshed her understanding of his capabilities.

She had seen powerful maou class fighters before in the underworld, but none of them could match his extraordinary abilities.

"Perhaps Yasuhiro has some special quality, enabling him to quickly deploy such a realistic barrier." Akeno didn't see much difference.

For her, having learned the origins of his power, all of this felt like a simple trick.

"Perhaps." Rias still harbored unresolved doubts.

"Where exactly is this place? Judging from their clothes and the buildings, it looks like medieval europe."

"But did medieval europe have computers and cell phones?" Rias looked around the city.

It appeared extremely medieval on the surface, but it was filled with modern technology.

She could see many people looking down at their phones.

Through the doors and windows, she could see computers on the tables, as well as other technological products.

"Rias, didn't Yasuhiro say before that this was an illusion created using his memories? It's definitely a place he has been to," Akeno said.

Rias nodded, then spoke solemnly. "Akeno, have you noticed? This city is filled with killing and darkness."

"There were five deaths in the street alone, and many more in the shadows, all without any investigation."

From the moment the two of them appeared, lives were constantly being lost.

Although things seemed prosperous and harmonious, the residents would fight each other at the slightest disagreement, and they would only stop when blood was spilled.

In fact, many people died right in front of them.

That wasn't all. Many people died by coincidence or accident.

They were directly hit by oncoming carriages or secretly murdered.

They were left lying on the ground as if they were simply fast asleep.

Many of the people in the crowd had fierce and menacing faces, and most of them weren't even human.

Street fighting, killing and underhanded tactics seemed to have become a necessity and a daily habit of life in this city.

Some of them didn't even have any reason for their actions, they were simply murderers.

At one point, two men locked onto a burly target, but the target escaped while being chased.

In response, they randomly killed a completely innocent person on the street.

Rias and Akeno felt a chill creep into their hearts at the sight of this terrifying city.

"This should be europe, and it's a place known from old texts. My guess is that we know where this is," Rias pondered for a moment before speaking.

"What place?" Akeno asked curiously.

"Dorte city, also known as the slaughterhouse."
