DxD: The Holy Knight!

Chapter 46 46: My services aren't free

"Koneko is having problems too?"

Speaking of Koneko, her true form was that of a Nekomata.

After becoming Rias's servant and with her Rook trait, she became powerful.

Despite her strength, she was still far from being a true Nekoshou.

Nekomatas are born with powerful senjutsu and youjutsu, which was the fundamental reason why they survive and crush other yokai.

Because of her sister's influence, Koneko hated that power.

Her symptoms were probably the same as Akeno's.

Yasuhiro didn't know what to say about this situation.

If Koneko's condition was truly like Akeno's, rationally speaking, the modified pieces had deeply optimized their respective bloodlines.

Akeno had discarded such optimizations.

Koneko probably felt the exact same way.

"It must be Koneko who came to my room yesterday."

Yasuhiro realized that the pieces had affected Koneko, causing her to lose control of her senjutsu and reveal her true form.

As for why Koneko sneaked into his room, he still hasn't figured it out.

"Koneko?!"

The girls realized their suspicions had been entirely wrong. Koneko's behavior at the academy was that of an emotionless girl.

Even within the academy, there was no close relationship between Koneko and Yasuhiro.

It was hard to believe she'd actually crawled into his bed at night.

Sona explained Koneko's background and at the same time, Yasuhiro chimed in with his own deductions.

"Koneko is so pitiful. She was abandoned after her sister lost control of her powers and killed their master!"

Reya never imagined that the mascot of kuoh had such a painful past.

Koneko's past made her subconsciously forget about the night raid on Yasuhiro.

Suddenly...

A crimson magic circle appeared in center of the living room.

"Rias!"

Something had happened!

Sona and the others exchanged glances.

For Rias to be in such a hurry to activate a transportation circle, something terrible must have occurred.

"Sorry to bother you so late at night, Sona," Rias stepped out of the magic circle.

"Rias, what happened?" Seeing the anxiety and worry on her face, Sona quickly asked.

"Koneko is missing!"

These words surprised Sona and the others.

They had just been discussing Koneko and now she had disappeared.

"When did Koneko go missing?"

"I haven't seen her since we parted ways at the club yesterday. I haven't been able to contact her no matter what I try," Rias said anxiously.

"At first, we thought Koneko went to an arcade or something to relax. She often goes there. But we haven't been able to reach her since then."

"I'vs notified everyone to search for her, but there is still no news."

Therefore, she could only come to Sona to see if she could get some help.

"Koneko must have gone missing this morning," Reya interjected.

"Wait, you saw Koneko? Where was she?" Rias asked with great hope.

Reya didn't speak, but instead turned her gaze to Yasuhiro beside her.

Rias followed Reya's gaze and looked at Yasuhiro.

She still harbored many grievances against him.

Whether it was their unpleasant encounter at the beginning or the matter with Sona, Rias's resentment toward Yasuhiro had grown deeper and deeper.

However, now that Koneko was missing.

She couldn't care less about those things.

Without hiding anything, Yasuhiro clearly recounted everything that had happened the previous night.

"You said Koneko sneaked into your bed last night?"

If it weren't for Sona, Rias would never have believed that her adorable Koneko would actually pull a night raid on the man in front of her.

She was filled with disbelief.

"That's just how things are. Believe it or not, I have no reason to lie to you," Yasuhiro shrugged.

Rias choked on her words.

Apart from the evil pieces, she and her peerage had nothing left for this guy to bother scheming for.

"I don't know what kind of magic potion you gave Koneko," Rias said, "but I'm her master!"

"Whether it's a potion or something else, it only proves one thing. In Koneko's heart, my status is far higher than yours." Yasuhiro lightly tapped Rias's forehead.

"You... Hmph..."

Rias was extremely agitated but she knew that now was not the time to argue with Yasuhiro.

The most important thing was to find Koneko.

"Sona, I must take my leave now."

"Wait, I have a way to help you find Koneko," Yasuhiro called out to Rias, who was about to leave.

"Really?!" She knew how formidable Yasuhiro was. Part of her desire in coming here to find Sona was to seek his help though she didn't want to admit it.

But for some reason, every time the two of them met, it ended in an argument with no pleasant conversation whatsoever.

This time was no different.

"While a precise location may be difficult to pinpoint, a general direction shouldn't be hard to find."

"What method can do that?" Rias asked quickly.

"Using your pieces for positioning. You should have gotten used to some of its new functions by now, one of which is the ability to locate your own servants."

Rias shook her head and said, "Using the evil pieces to locate servants only works when the distance between the two sides isn't too far. And I have tried it, it seems someone blocked her from this entire plane."

"That is why I'm so anxious. Koneko's disappearance is less like she went missing and more like she was kidnapped."

Right under their noses, a member of their peerage had been kidnapped.

This was shameful.

"If we still can't find Koneko tonight, I plan to have the clan take action and make them pay the price."

"Rias, things haven't gotten to that point yet." Sona quickly stopped her, knowing that Rias asking her clan for help at this time would undoubtedly be a bad thing for her marriage.

"Aren't you underestimating me? Just because you can't pinpoint her location doesn't mean I can't."

Rias blinked as she looked expectantly at Yasuhiro, "You really can locate her!?"

"Your prejudice against me runs so deep that you've completely disregarded what I said before."

"Didn't I just say that while pinpointing the exact location might be difficult, determining a general direction isn't challenging?"

"What should I do?!"

"Extend your hand, and I'll guide you."

Rias brought her hand forward.

Yasuhiro grasped Rias's hand. He simply channeled power of light into Rias's body.

The sudden influx of light power made Rias feel slightly uncomfortable, but she suppressed the feeling.

Using power of light and his understanding of the pieces, Yasuhiro gradually expanded the piece's perception of its servants.

Rias was surprised to find that, under Yasuhiro's control, her perception of her servants was constantly expanding.

Although she couldn't pinpoint their exact locations, she could still determine their general directions and distances.

"I sense it, at that place..." Just as Rias was trying to determine the exact distance, her perception suddenly ceased.

"Yasuhiro, could we try again? Koneko's location seems a bit far from kuoh. Just finding her based on the general direction will take a lot of time, and then..." Rias said urgently.

"Rias, if you keep letting me channel my light power to your body. You'd die."

"And I roughly know who kidnapped Koneko." Yasuhiro looked towards the direction.

"However, my services aren't free." He said lightly, causing Rias to remain silent.

"I'll give you anything." She looked up and met his gaze.

"Hope, you won't regret it then."
