Multivers, Leveling Up in the World I Created

Chapter 459: 459 Resident Evil 19

We moved to a quiet restaurant with the FBI agents.

Jill naturally came along, and Leon and Claire also followed, curious.

Jill and I gave the FBI a detailed account of what had happened in Raccoon City.

However, we deliberately withheld the fact that we had a T-virus vaccine, and that Sherry and Jill had been infected with the G-virus and treated.

If that information got out, Sherry and Jill could become targets of government surveillance.

We had already coordinated our stories with the group, so there was no risk of it leaking.

"Amazing. The T-virus is already a headache, but now the G-virus... And this is the first we've heard of Dr. Bard. Are you saying there really was a doctor who successfully developed a T-virus vaccine?"

"Yes, there was. After escaping Raccoon City, he contacted government officials, and we only know that he left with them."

"That can't be... We manage all information related to viruses. This is the first we're hearing about this."

"Dr. Bard said Umbrella wouldn't leave him alone. That they'd eventually eliminate him too, to destroy all evidence. So he was trying to get U.S. government protection as quickly as possible."

At that, the FBI agents' expressions hardened.

"...That means he was likely eliminated before he could even contact our side."

"As far as I know, there are quite a few government officials and intelligence agents on Umbrella's payroll. Raccoon City's prominent figures were also deeply connected to them. It's entirely possible if they made a move."

"Phew... the situation is far more serious than we thought. To think they'd eliminate the doctor who developed the T-virus vaccine just to destroy evidence..."

Seeing the FBI agents' grim expressions, Jill said, "Before you get information from us, how about cleaning up your own house? You just lost a key figure right under your noses."

"We have no excuse. We knew there were Umbrella operatives, but we didn't think it was this bad."

The FBI agents exchanged whispers for a moment, then stood up.

Before leaving, one of them handed me a business card.

"Thank you for your cooperation. The government considers this incident a threat to national security. The White House is currently leading a secret program to train anti-bioterrorism agents. We need people with virus knowledge and field experience. If you're interested, please contact us anytime."

"I'll think about it."

After they left, Jill asked, "What do you think?"

"I don't know... The government seems to have its own internal problems too... I think it's best to wait for Chris to contact us and move together."

"Hmm... I wonder if that gorilla is doing well."

"Captain Enrico and Barry are with him, so I'm not too worried."

"What about Joseph?"

"Joseph is... a bit of a lightweight."

"Yeah, I suppose..."

Leon, who had been quietly listening, spoke up with determination.

"I think I'll join the government's training program. Watching you fight in Raccoon City, I realized how inadequate I am. A police badge alone won't be enough to handle what's coming. To keep fighting Umbrella, I need to get stronger. And with government support, I might be able to protect more people."

I was a bit surprised by Leon's words.

In the original, his main reason for becoming a government agent was to protect Sherry.

But now that I was taking care of Sherry, he didn't have to make that choice.

Yet Leon didn't hesitate.

He had felt his own helplessness more keenly than anyone in Raccoon City and didn't want to experience being unable to stop threats like Umbrella again.

In the end, his choice wasn't about Sherry—it came from his own conviction.

'Maybe I've been stifling the protagonists' potential too much.'

Still, I thought it couldn't be helped.

I hadn't expected William to mutate that far.

"Aren't you going to have a hard time?"

"It can't be helped. I'm prepared."

"Then don't leave right away. Stay a while. I'll make you some gear."

"You'd do that? I heard you're making gear for Ada Wong too. If it's something you've made, I can trust it."

With that, we returned to the mansion.

I immediately started working on the firearms.

For Leon, I planned to make the 'Requiem,' a pistol that appears in Resident Evil 9.

Unlike other protagonists, Leon is most skilled with handguns, so I figured just this one would be enough for him.

Of course, it wouldn't be an ordinary gun.

With [Matter Manipulation], I could freely use any material on Earth, including rare or difficult-to-process ones, and the precision was incomparable to standard firearms.

The completed Requiem would surpass the original in both power and accuracy, and I even engraved elegant patterns on its exterior.

'I'm not sure if it's okay to give him this early... but oh well.'

While I was at it, I also made weapons for Claire and Jill: a Lightning Hawk (Desert Eagle), a Tomahawk (military tactical axe) for close combat, and a survival dagger.

All of them bore my engraved signature.

A month passed.

Ada had her cast removed and, after rehabilitation, returned to full health.

So we took the group to an outdoor shooting range.

"Wow... I really like this gun, but using 12.7×55mm rounds... isn't that overkill?"

"I made it for taking down the big ones. You've seen them too."

"True..."

Leon, holding the pistol I had made for him, was quite surprised by the caliber.

But after recalling the monsters he'd faced in Raccoon City, he acknowledged its necessity and nodded.

Bang!

"Oh? It's easier to shoot than I thought? The recoil is much lighter than I expected. Not that it lacks power."

"Right? I designed the barrel axis lower than a standard pistol, so the recoil feels much less."

Just then, a clattering sound came from beside us.

Thump!

"Oof!"

"Ada!"

Ada had been practicing with the Grapple Gun I'd made for her and ended up rolling on the ground.

Leon rushed over to help her up.

"I told you to reduce the tension."

"No, this is fine. I'm just not used to it yet."

"Are you going to break your leg again?"

"Maybe. Then Leon will have to take care of me again."

At that, Leon cleared his throat awkwardly and looked away.

"Anyway, I like them both. How much?"

"Around 3,000 dollars."

"That's expensive... I thought you said you'd only charge for materials?"

"Normally, I'd charge double that including labor. You have to consider it's handmade."

"Fine. I'll take a dagger too."

"That's expensive too... Fine, go ahead."

While we were talking, Jill was teaching Claire proper shooting techniques.

Claire had fired a lot of guns and had been through a lot, but she was still a student, so her technique was a bit rough compared to a professional.

The next day, Ada packed her things and left.

She seemed to have said something to Leon, but I didn't ask.

"Thank you for everything. I think it's time for me to leave too. The government contacted me, saying they're short-handed and need me to join as soon as possible."

Two days after Ada left, Leon also said he was leaving.

"Really? I thought you'd stay a few more days..."

"I'd like to, but it can't be helped. Thanks for making the gear."

Leon and I shook hands firmly.

We had been through life-and-death situations together, so words weren't necessary.

Jill, Claire, and the kids also said their goodbyes.

"Take care. With this line of work, we'll probably meet again. And watch out for that cat thief."

"R, right, I will."

"If you see my brother, tell him I'm looking for him."

"I'll be sure to."

"Oppa, see you next time. Come visit often."

"I don't know if I'll be able to, but I'll definitely stop by if I'm nearby."

After patting Sherry and Anna on the heads, Leon set off.

After Leon left, I transferred the funds from the secret bank account Annette had given me into an AI-managed account.

The Birkins' secret savings amounted to a staggering 30 million dollars.

Combined with Chief Irons' hidden funds, I set a new asset target for the AI: 10 trillion won (about 73 billion dollars).

'Sherry's going to faint when she sees what her parents left her when she grows up.'

A few days later, Chris finally contacted us.

The FBI must have given him our contact information.

But as soon as Jill's call ended, she handed the phone to Claire, who started arguing with him.

"Do you know how worried I was!? What, what did you say!? You're telling me to go back to school first?! How can you say that...! Hah..."

While Claire and Chris argued, I quietly asked Jill, "What did Chris say?"

"The European Umbrella branch is tougher than expected. He said informants keep getting killed. That's why he couldn't call sooner."

"Really? Did he say he needs support?"

"Not yet. He said they need to wait and see. That more people would just complicate things."

"Our side has been through a lot too, but it seems they've had it just as rough."

"Seems that way."

After the call, Claire decided to return to school.

"I think I need to graduate first. I'm tired of being treated like a kid. Once I graduate, I'll do whatever I want."

"He's your only family, so that's why. And the fact that he told you not to come means the situation on their end is pretty complicated too."

Claire's willingness to return to school showed she understood Chris's situation to some extent.

But she clearly wasn't happy with being treated like a child forever.

The next day, Claire went straight to a bike shop and bought a used motorcycle.

She then borrowed my workshop to work on it, and I helped with the necessary modifications.

After finishing the work, Claire packed her things, said her goodbyes, and left.

"Thanks for the help with the bike. See you next time."

"Yeah, take care. If that gorilla contacts you, let me know."

"Thanks. You take care too, Jill."

"Stay safe."

Claire hugged Sherry and Anna tightly.

"Sherry and Anna, stay healthy. I'll come back."

"Sister, you have to come."

"Of course."

With that, Claire also left the mansion.

I wouldn't see her for a while, but she'd probably be the first protagonist I'd meet again, since the next episode was Resident Evil Code: Veronica.

"Now that all the guests are gone, let's combine the rooms."

"Wh, wh, wh, what are you saying!"

When I suggested combining rooms, Jill blushed and looked flustered.

"We don't have to worry about eyes now."

"But the kids are here..."

"Summer break will be over soon, and with Sherry's paperwork done, she'll be able to go to school safely."

"B, but..."

"Why, don't you want to?"

"It's not that I don't want to, but it's sudden..."

I was surprised.

"I didn't know you had this side to you. You're like a shy, cute girl?"

"Wh, what are you talking about!"

Smack!

"Ugh!"

As expected, a smack landed on my back.

But from that day on, Jill moved her things into my room.

And naturally, we started spending passionate nights together.

"Augh... are all men like that? I never knew something so monstrous could be attached."

"I'm a bit bigger than average. But didn't you enjoy it?"

"That was a first for me. It felt like my brain was melting."

Just then, Sherry walked into the living room, having overheard us, and asked curiously.

"What are you two talking about?"

"Ah, nothing."

Sherry fidgeted with her hands, seeming to have something to say.

"Do you have something to tell us?"

"Um... I want to get a dog."

"Really? But having a dog comes with a lot of responsibilities. Can you handle that? As you know, we might be away from home often."

Sherry confidently replied, "I can! Just leave it to me."

"What kind of dog do you want?"

"Um... I don't know the name, but a big, brown one with long fur."

"That sounds like a Golden Retriever."

"I think so. I saw it on TV."

"Alright. You've promised to take responsibility."

Sherry ran to Anna and told her the news.

Anna was also delighted and came running out of her room.

"Can we really get a dog?"

"Yeah. But don't forget your promise."

Sherry and Anna held hands and twirled around in joy.

Jill and I couldn't help but chuckle at the sight.

We all headed to a pet shop.

In America, many homes have large yards, so Golden Retrievers are common, making it easy to find a puppy.

But an unexpected problem arose: Sherry and Anna each wanted a different dog.

After much deliberation, we decided to bring home both.

"Then you two take good care of your respective dogs. If you neglect them, they'll get sick quickly."

"Yes~!"

But we couldn't leave everything to the kids; they still had school.

So we hired additional help around the house.

With the household matters mostly settled, I decided it was time to wrap up the Resident Evil world.
