Chapter 359 - 225: Black Clothes
"Oh, right."
"I forgot about the wanted man here."
The man took two steps before suddenly turning back, his gaze locking onto the Sword Demon. The Sword Demon froze. He had assumed that since the man was willing to let Caged Bird go, he probably had no interest in him either.
However,
the Sword Demon had overlooked one thing.
Caged Bird was a Tier Eight powerhouse. But what was the Sword Demon in comparison? Any Extraordinary Being knew that Tier Eight was in a class of its own, and those who had actually stepped into Tier Eight understood this difference even more profoundly.
Therefore, when facing a Tier Eight enemy—regardless of whether they were good or evil—one had to think long and hard before engaging. Otherwise, you were bound to suffer an unexpected and humiliating defeat. No one wanted that to happen.
But those below Tier Eight were another story.
"Damn it!"
The Sword Demon only thought of running then. To wait until your opponent had fully revealed their killing intent before trying to flee... how could anyone possibly escape such a deadly trap?
Sure enough, the Sword Demon had only hesitated for an instant before the man’s iron fist smashed into his face with incredible speed. His body then violently imploded, collapsing inward until it was reduced to a pulp of flesh and gore. The stench of blood filled the air as it sprayed across the ground.
"AH!"
No one in the surrounding crowd was the soft-hearted type, but even they couldn’t help but cry out in shock at the sight. Only Caged Bird remained perfectly calm, quietly watching it all unfold.
"Go on."
"I won’t fight you, and I don’t know what happened in the past. But you should know that I am also part of a special organization. If you violate the laws of Xia Country, don’t blame me for being unforgiving," the man said, glancing at Caged Bird.
"Heh," Caged Bird said with a chuckle. "May I ask, do the laws of Xia Country even apply here in Desperate Gorge?"
But the man from the special organization didn’t answer. He only glanced at the Tier Eight being before heading straight for Desperate Gorge. He didn’t seem to be moving fast, yet each step covered hundreds of meters. In just a few strides, he reached the entrance.
The Jue Dao Sect disciples guarding the gorge didn’t dare try to stop him. They all scrambled to the side, watching as he walked into Desperate Gorge.
It wasn’t just because he was a Tier Eight powerhouse. More importantly, he was an *official* Tier Eight powerhouse. He was fundamentally beyond the reach of what a minor sect like theirs could ever hope to stop.
"..."
’I wonder if I’ll still be able to get that flower.’
Caged Bird surveyed the chaotic scene. This was completely unexpected. He’d thought the information he received was secret, and since Desperate Gorge wasn’t exactly a popular destination, he assumed he could slip in and retrieve the flower without anyone knowing. But now, it was clear that wasn’t the case.
「Elsewhere.」
The Black Shadow had resorted to the extreme measure of burning his own Martial Arts Realm, unleashing unparalleled potential. He transformed into a piercing ray of black light and fled frantically, looking like a beaten dog, utterly devoid of the arrogance he’d displayed when slaughtering the disciples of the two sects earlier.
He fled like this for several miles. Only when his Tier Seven Martial Arts Realm was on the verge of collapsing to Tier Six did he finally force himself to stop. No one wanted to experience the sensation of dropping a realm, and besides, it seemed he had managed to escape.
’That punch...’
Recalling that punch, the Black Shadow’s heart still hammered in his chest. He had long heard of the power of a Tier Eight, but he had never personally clashed with one. He never imagined they could be *that* powerful.
In truth, for the Black Shadow to have dared come to a place like this so brazenly, he must have had a plan to deal with a Tier Eight powerhouse.
But when he finally encountered a true Tier Eight, their power far surpassed his wildest estimations, leaving him utterly no room to even try and fight back.
Just as the Black Shadow was still reeling from the memory of the man’s terrifying punch, a familiar yet chilling aura washed over him. The aura was unmistakably similar to the man’s, only much weaker.
’Fuck!’
’He actually brought other people with him!’
’Come to think of it, it made sense. When do people from those special organizations ever operate alone? With that man’s terrifying power, he must hold a high rank. It wouldn’t be surprising if he had a few subordinates shadowing him, staying hidden and out of the fight. And now, they were here to finish the job and take my life.’
"DAMN IT!!!"
The Black Shadow was horrified. He’d thought he had finally escaped, but he never expected them to have a trump card. He was so heavily injured now that even if his pursuers weren’t Tier Eight, he was in no condition to fight.
’I have to run!’
The thought solidified in the Black Shadow’s mind.
He had to start running again, to burn what was left of his Martial Arts Realm, before they found his exact location. After all, a lost Martial Arts Realm could be cultivated anew. But a lost life? That meant waiting for the next reincarnation.
But...
Just then, a sharp, clear sound came from up ahead. The Black Shadow’s expression changed dramatically—not with fear, but with an unprecedented excitement.
’It’s a person! There’s someone else here!’
The Black Shadow was instantly overjoyed—ecstatic. His injuries were severe and his black robes were in tatters. If he could devour this brat before him, he could not only recover from some of his wounds but, more importantly, his black robes could be partially repaired. This would drastically increase his chances of survival.
He had been fleeing for his life through Pudu Mountain, a desolate wasteland where finding another person should have been impossible. He never imagined someone would deliver themselves right to his doorstep. Perfect. He could devour them and replenish his strength.
