Dual World Apocalypse: My Harem Gives Me 10x Rewards

Chapter 80: Step 80 to Greatness: One’s Fear Doesn’t Last Forever

Earlier in the morning, somewhere deep in the primal forest...

A small clearing was filled with the stench of blood and death. A group of survivors stood panting heavily, their bodies covered in their sweat and the blood of monsters that had attacked their settlement.

Corpses of both humans and animals were strewn about all over the place. Most of the dead humans were tribal males, with only two wanderers.

Among those alive, most wore modern clothes, or what remained of them, while a few tribal women and children were around them.

Juan stood at the front, wiping blood from his face with the back of his hand. The bloodstained machete looked especially menacing in his hands.

"Finally done with these beasts..." he mumbled, kicking the corpse of a massive bear-like beast.

They were attacked at the same time as the other players in the region. However, the horde they faced was so massive that it took them over twenty-four hours of constant fighting to get rid of it.

Juan looked around. They had lost a lot of people in the fight. However, it wasn’t their numbers that concerned him, but what came afterwards.

With so much blood around them, they would never know peace if they stayed there. Beasts and players alike would be attracted by the blood and carcasses like moths to a flame.

"Pack everything you can," he instructed others. "Use the conversion table to turn the buildings back into cards. As for the things that can’t be converted, sell them on the marketplace."

Players left to do as he asked of them without asking questions. At the same time, his mate approached him, wrapping her hands around his waist from behind.

"We move?" she asked in broken English.

"Yes," he nodded, turning around to face her. "This place has only brought misery to me. I was thinking of leaving before. This attack just made things happen earlier than planned."

The woman nodded back, looking around the place that was once her home. Strangely enough, the attachment she felt towards the place had been replaced with her attachment to Juan.

That’s why she even stopped using the tribal language and instead was learning English from here and there. She just wanted to make Juan happy ever since his brother died.

Unfortunately, their little private time got interrupted when one of Juan’s lackeys came running.

"Boss! You won’t believe what I just saw in the marketplace!" he gasped. "That girl Sera, the one Junito was interested in, she’s alive! Not just that, she’s also selling things like smoked wolf meat and impure salt like it’s nothing!"

"Smoked meat and salt?" Juan repeated, his eyes narrowing.

He wasn’t surprised by her being alive. He had seen the notification in the announcement channel about a Seraphine Quinzel getting a second class.

Back then, he thought the name was familiar, but he only knew Sera as Sera, and besides, she was so weak. So he didn’t pay much attention to the news, thinking it was someone else with a similar name.

However, what surprised him was the things she had been selling. Smoked meat and impure salt were rare commodities right now.

In fact, what little cured meat and salt they had, they had gotten it all from the settlement rewards, but they had a restriction and couldn’t be traded through the marketplace.

Besides, even with their large group, they struggled to kill such large wolves. It was unlikely that she killed the wolf herself. After all, despite their large group, they had been struggling to secure consistent food and resources.

If Sera had access to a consistent food supply as well as a salt deposit, it meant she had become someone’s kept woman. After all, there was no way someone like her could pull it off herself, even if she had two classes.

The girl I knew was too timid to kill anyone or anything herself.

In Juan’s misogynistic thinking, Sera could not have gotten that meat, salt, or her second class on her own. She must have used her charm to join some other group and then reap benefits.

The thought made Juan clench his fists. The bitch was his brother’s property. How dare she desecrate his feelings towards him and sleep with anyone else?

As for the people supporting her, they should be the ones who had killed Junito. As long as he finds Sera, he will find the ones responsible for Junito’s death and deal with them in such a demonic fashion that even the doors of hell won’t open for them.

But that’s where the problem arose.

I have no idea where she is.

Just because she showed up in the marketplace, it didn’t mean they knew where she was in the large region. But that did not mean Juan couldn’t lure her out.

He opened the chat, found her in his chats, and sent her a private message.

<Juan>: I heard you have been making waves in the marketplace. How about you share some of that profit with me before I ruin your little vacation?

He sent the message and frowned. He could imagine her panicking, and the thought almost made him smirk until he remembered she could be responsible for his brother’s death, and that infuriated him.

The lackey stood nervously beside him, waiting for orders. Juan saw him and clicked his tongue.

"What the hell are you waiting for? Go clear the place up!"

"Y-Yes, Boss!"

Back in the present...

Sera saw the text, and all colors were drained from her face. Juan was someone she had forgotten about, but just one text from him was enough to scare her shitless.

How could she not be scared?

She had seen with her own eyes what he was capable of. The horrific things he had done would have led to multiple death sentences one after another, if they were on civilized Earth.

Sera took several deep breaths, trying to calm her racing heart. That was the effect a man like Juan had on others. It was also why Sera was afraid to sign an enslavement contract with Adrian at first, thinking he was the same as Juan.

However, in time she realized that was not the case. Adrian might be a bit too straightforward, but that was it. He did not have a single evil bone in his body.

Strangely enough, thinking about Adrian calmed her down instantly. It wasn’t just that, the women around her also brought her a sense of peace.

Calm down, Sera... he only knows you’re alive. He doesn’t know where you are, and even if he did, you have people who care about you now. He does not have a chance to drag you back into that hell...

She kept repeating that thought like a mantra, and eventually, she straightened up, wiping the sweat from her palms on her grass skirt.

It would be a lie to say that she wasn’t nervous, but at least she wasn’t panicking like before.

"I don’t need you in my life," Sera mumbled to herself, immediately blocking Juan from contacting her again.

As she did, she noticed footsteps behind her. The women turned around, ready to use their weapons, only for Huginn to rush into nearby bushes and reappear on top of someone’s head.

"What are you people doing here?" Adrian asked.
