Chapter 129 - 94: A Gathering of Titans, a Prodigy of the Ages (Part 3)
Beside Duan Tianya stood another figure—a white-haired Daoist clad in a Daoist robe.
Though his hair was white, he exuded an Extraordinary air.
It didn’t take a genius to guess that this white-haired Daoist must be the Celestial Secret Daoist.
Gazing at him was like trying to see flowers through a fog—everything was a blur.
Fang Xing couldn’t sense even a trace of the man’s power, a being who had clearly transcended the True Realm.
A Martial Dao Celestial Human was a being who could wield the Power of Heaven and Earth and achieve a Heaven and Earth Rank.
The gap between such a realm and even the peak of the True Dao was as wide as the heavens and the earth.
Surrounded by their Heaven and Earth Rank, they could easily suppress a peak True Dao expert with their Rank alone.
They had reached the legendary status of terrestrial immortals.
Extraordinary to Saint!
...
The birthday celebration began. Duan Tianya gave a speech, and then the banquet commenced.
The food was secondary; the real purpose was to network.
After the birthday banquet ended, Fang Xing and his companion were summoned by Nangong Qing for an audience with the Commander.
Fang Xing and Shen Ye entered the room and saw the figure seated in the seat of honor.
At such close range, an invisible pressure washed over them.
Even the faintest hint of might emanating from a Celestial-level titan felt as heavy as a mountain to them.
He just sat there quietly, yet it was like facing the illusion of a sky-supporting giant.
"Your subordinate, Fang Xing!"
"Your subordinate, Shen Ye!"
"Greetings, Lord Commander!"
The two spoke in unison, bowing deeply.
Duan Tianya’s gaze swept over them.
His eyes seemed to pierce right through their bodies, making them feel as if they had no secrets to hide.
"Mm, you two are not bad. Keep working hard, and strive to reach greater heights in the future."
As Duan Tianya’s voice reached their ears, the two nodded and then, at a signal from Nangong Qing, took their leave.
The entire meeting involved no significant exchange—just a simple greeting. They showed their faces, and it was over.
’So I guess that completes this "mission"!’
As for any real conversation, their cultivation and strength were nowhere near that level.
"Phew..."
Only after stepping out of Qingfeng Manor did Fang Xing feel a sense of relief wash over him.
To be honest, he found such gatherings of titans to be extremely uncomfortable.
They weren’t on the same level. Coming here was just a formality, a matter of going through the motions.
When facing such titans, an invisible pressure enveloped both his body and mind.
The oppression felt like holding his breath.
Stepping out of the manor, he could finally breathe easier.
"The Celestial Human Realm..." Shen Ye sighed wistfully. "I wonder if I’ll ever have the chance to reach that level in this lifetime."
Fang Xing looked at him but said nothing.
The Celestial Human Realm!
It was a chasm as wide as heaven and earth, one that very few could ever hope to cross.
Fate, creation, resources, talent, comprehension... one needed them all combined for even a chance to enter it.
The Martial Dao God!
The Celestial Human Realm was the barrier separating the Extraordinary from the divine.
A single step, an earth-shattering transformation!
The ultimate sublimation, a Martial Dao Ascension!
Upon reaching the Celestial realm, one could even reincarnate with their memories intact and cultivate once more.
Even if their lifespan ended, they could seize creation from the heavens, avoid the cycle of reincarnation, and be reborn.
...
The two waited at the entrance for a while before Nangong Qing came out.
Looking at them, Nangong Qing smiled. "You two did well this time. You didn’t embarrass yourselves and left a decent impression on the Commander."
The two exchanged a look but said nothing.
’We just bowed, said hello, and that was it.’
They had no way of knowing what the higher-ups truly thought, but Nangong Qing’s words served as a pill of reassurance.
"Let’s go, time to head back." Patting their shoulders, Nangong Qing boarded the carriage.
Fang Xing and Shen Ye followed close behind, and the carriage soon disappeared from the entrance of Qingfeng Manor.
...
The birthday celebration was over, and everything returned to calm.
Upon returning to the Observatory, Fang Xing went back to his own courtyard residence.
Around 7:45 PM, there was a knock on his courtyard gate. Baili Yanran had arrived.
She brought with her the files for a mission.
"Take a look at these. We set out first thing tomorrow morning," Baili Yanran said, handing the files to Fang Xing.
Fang Xing nodded and accepted the files. "Alright, no problem."
"Then I won’t disturb you any further." Baili Yanran smiled and promptly left.
Closing the courtyard gate, Fang Xing went inside and looked over the mission files from Baili Yanran.
The files contained information about the Void Sect, including details on three of its Cult Leaders.
Among them, the most important leader was the Void Saintess.
The Void Saintess was the primary target of this operation.
The other two Void Evil Cult Leaders were merely her subordinates.
Based on the files, the Void Saintess held an unusual position within the Evil Cult.
Eliminate the Void Saintess and uproot the Evil Cult’s stronghold.
This was the mission’s general objective.
However, there was little information about Demons and Monsters—only a few brief mentions.
The location of the Evil Cult’s stronghold, however, was somewhat surprising to Fang Xing. It was inside a Martial Dao Sect.
Fang Xing read through it carefully, then put the files away.
He closed his eyes and mentally reviewed the plan. It seemed about right, with no obvious omissions.
He read it over a few more times, memorizing every word, until he had a complete grasp of the situation.
Although the chance of Demons and Monsters appearing was small, it wasn’t zero.
He needed to be vigilant.
One thing was certain, however: there were at least three targets at the True Qi Realm.
Furthermore, this Evil Cult stronghold was different from previous ones, as it involved a Martial Dao Sect.
This Martial Dao Sect looked ordinary on the surface, but it was a den of filth and corruption.
’A Martial Dao Sect...’
Fang Xing’s expression turned grave.
The Void Evil Cult combined with a Martial Dao Sect—their united strength could not be underestimated.
To him, however, it wasn’t particularly terrifying. According to the files, the Void Saintess’s cultivation was only at the True Qi Realm Third Layer.
The other two Cult Leaders only had the cultivation of the True Qi Realm First Layer.
Of course, besides these leaders, the Martial Dao Sect itself was also a target.
They were all to be eliminated.
The strongest person in the Martial Dao Sect was also at the True Qi Realm Third Layer—the Sect Leader.
The sect didn’t have many members. Publicly, they were disciples of the Sect, but secretly, they were followers of the Void Sect.
The infiltration ran deep!
This was Fang Xing’s first time undertaking such a mission.
However, he was filled with anticipation.
It was his first major operation.
