From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius

Chapter 327: Helping Out

After dinner, Chloe Sinclair washed the dishes and returned to her dorm room.

There were six people in the dorm room, making the small space feel incredibly cramped.

Gabriel Sinclair knew Chloe liked to keep clean, so he had already prepared a bucket of hot water for her bath and left it outside her dorm room door.

Her two roommates were incredibly envious and spoke up on their own initiative for the first time.

"Chloe, I had no idea your brother was so good to you."

The two students had seen everything that had happened that day.

As a result, their opinion of Gabriel Sinclair skyrocketed.

Chloe looked at the water in the bucket and hummed softly in agreement.

’Her brother might be unreliable sometimes, but he had a thoughtfulness that most people lacked.’

Chloe set aside half the bucket for her two roommates to wash up with, then took the rest to the washroom to bathe.

At nine o’clock that night, Chloe went to bed early.

Upon entering the system, Chloe found herself in the laboratory.

She had familiarized herself with half of the equipment on the first floor, but according to the system’s clock, she had also used up half of her allotted time.

Chloe wasn’t worried, though.

’After all, if she couldn’t fully master the equipment in this lab, she probably wouldn’t be able to handle whatever was on the second floor.’

’It was better to just learn as much as she could on the first floor for now.’

Chloe didn’t know how much time had passed when she suddenly heard a CLICK by her ear, which sounded like a light being switched on.

Chloe frowned and slowly opened her eyes, her gaze immediately falling on a blurry light fixture hanging from the concrete ceiling.

She picked up the phone beside her bed and glanced at it.

Five in the morning.

This was normally when she would get up for a run, but after spending over an hour on a plane and then transferring to a bus, she felt completely exhausted.

Taking a deep breath, Chloe sat up in bed anyway.

Seeing that her roommates were still asleep, Chloe’s movements became even quieter.

After washing up, Chloe decided not to go for her morning run.

’Bathing was already inconvenient here; if she went for a run, she might have to wash up several times a day.’

So, once she was ready, she took her tablet and started working on algorithms.

But Adela Armstrong and the others were being loud while putting on their makeup, creating a racket from time to time.

Chloe shot them a brief glance before grabbing her tablet and heading out into the hallway.

The deep winter in Yarrow was bone-chilling. The moment Chloe stepped outside, a gust of cold wind swirled around her neck, making her flinch.

A light snow had started falling the previous evening, and by this morning, the small schoolyard was already covered in a layer of it.

A few of the school’s teachers were already awake. Some were sweeping the schoolyard, while others had started to assemble a stage.

Only then did Chloe remember the New Year’s Day performance was today.

It was also the village elementary school’s very first New Year’s Day performance.

The school’s teachers were taking it very seriously, so they had borrowed equipment early in the morning to build the stage. The production team was providing the camera, and after the event, they would create DVDs of the performance, with a copy for the school’s teachers.

Chloe couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. She set down her tablet, found a broom in a classroom that the students usually used for sweeping, and joined in to help clear the snow.

At six-thirty in the morning, students began to arrive at the elementary school.

Underneath their thin, cotton-padded jackets, they wore the costumes provided by the production team.

By the time Chloe finished sweeping, she was feeling a little warm.

Seeing that the students had arrived, Chloe ran over to the director. "Should we put some makeup on them?"

’It is a New Year’s performance, after all. Without makeup, they won’t have much of a stage presence.’

The director seemed to think so too, but said regretfully, "The production team didn’t bring any makeup."

The production team hadn’t brought a large crew this time. Most of them were cameramen; they hadn’t even brought a makeup artist.

Chloe understood.

’No wonder Adela and the others had to get up at five in the morning to do their own makeup.’
