Chapter 525: Death Anniversary
Chapter 525: Chapter 515: Death Anniversary
The drill instructor looked like he was ready to spill the details of his entire family tree.
Nathan Trenton: “…”
He shot Chloe Sinclair a slightly helpless look.
Chloe Sinclair shrugged, her expression a little innocent. She hadn’t expected to run into one of her fans just by visiting the athletic field.
A die-hard fan, at that.
Chloe Sinclair was touched, but also felt a faint, secret thrill of pleasure.
After all, at this time in her past life, she was a pariah, despised by everyone online.
Sniffling, Chloe Sinclair said earnestly, “Thank you for being a fan. If you want an autograph, I’ll come find you later.”
The drill instructor was ecstatic and nodded hurriedly.
Chloe Sinclair had an exam that afternoon. After finishing, she remembered her promise to the drill instructor and hurried over to the athletic field.
The instructor was just getting off duty, so Chloe Sinclair signed her name for him right then and there.
Not long after she returned to her apartment, Mr. Sinclair came over.
Their two apartments were adjacent, just a few steps apart.
Mr. Sinclair often brought over home-cooked meals to Chloe Sinclair’s apartment after his late shifts.
Chloe Sinclair hadn’t been back to her apartment in almost a week, but Mr. Sinclair had people clean it regularly. The place wasn’t dirty at all; in fact, it was even cleaner than before.
Today, Mr. Sinclair had made three dishes and a soup—a very generous portion.
Chloe Sinclair was a little puzzled.
“Dad, it’s just the two of us. Why did you make so much?”
Even back in Kennet, the Sinclair Family’s meals had always been simple; they would never waste a single grain of rice.
Three dishes and a soup for just two people was basically unheard of for them.
Hearing this, Mr. Sinclair looked a little sad. “I’m heading back to Kennet tomorrow. It’s not convenient to cook in the apartment, so I used our hotel’s kitchen to make you some things to pack up. I know you’re busy, so you can just heat this up tomorrow morning. From now on, if there’s anything you want to eat, just call the hotel manager. They’ll have someone deliver it to you.”
Chloe Sinclair was still processing the news that her father was leaving when his last sentence registered.
Chloe Sinclair swallowed. “Dad, which hotel of ours is this one?”
“The one in Eastward.”
Chloe Sinclair thought for a moment.
There were two five-star hotels in Eastward. One was privately owned by Jasper Shaw, which meant the other one was likely hers.
Chloe Sinclair wasn’t even that surprised anymore.
After all, at the beginning of the year, when the company paid out dividends, she had received a full 1.8 billion, and another 200 million had been automatically donated to charitable organizations.
That was two billion in total.
Then there was the salary card Jasper Shaw had given her. She had checked it once out of curiosity and found that the balance was a twelve-digit figure.
‘I wonder how much research all this money could fund.’
But Chloe Sinclair was preoccupied with something else right now.
Chloe Sinclair asked, “Dad, you’re leaving? Why not stay in Emberfall a little longer?”
Her father was leaving, and she didn’t want him to go.
Of course, Mr. Sinclair didn’t want to leave his precious daughter all by herself either, but with tens of thousands of employees in the company, he couldn’t stay here long-term. The headquarters wasn’t here, after all.
“Yes, I have to go back to Kennet after these negotiations are over.”
After speaking, something seemed to occur to him, and Mr. Sinclair asked, “Are you free on June 28th?”
Chloe Sinclair thought for a moment, then said uncertainly, “Grandpa’s research project just started, so I don’t think it will be finished anytime soon.”
Then she asked, “Is something happening that day?”
Mr. Sinclair looked troubled. He hesitated for a moment before saying, “June 28th is the anniversary of your mother’s death.”
“I wanted to ask if you’d be willing to go visit her.”
