My Magic Has No Upper Limit

Chapter 350 - 311: Ancient Ecological Garden, Part 2

Zelir raised Night Peace and cast a Water Ball Skill!

A clear, watermelon-sized orb of water shot out and, under Zelir’s control, dispersed in midair.

Water drizzled onto the surface of the stone tiles.

The group stared intently at the surface of the floor tiles.

No trap was triggered.

After a few more Water Ball Skills, the corridor floor was covered in a thin layer of water.

And then...

He activated his Frost Technique!

Magic Power swept out along the corridor!

"CRACKLE... CRACKLE..."

A low, crisp sound echoed as a layer of ice began to spread, covering the wet floor tiles as a cold chill rolled forth.

Since it covered a rather large area, this casting of the Frost Technique consumed more Magic Power than usual.

In his sea of consciousness, his Magic Power reserves were depleting at a rate far faster than normal.

Throughout this process, Marcus kept his shield raised in front of Zelir in case of any surprises.

Soon, a thin, transparent layer of ice had formed over the entire corridor floor.

The traps remained untriggered.

"Alright..."

Zelir retracted his Magic Power and let out a sigh of relief. "Now we just wait."

’Hopefully, this will reveal them. If not, we’ll have to think of another way.’

They didn’t have to wait long, however, for the expected to happen.

On the corridor floor, at the locations of certain tiles, the thin layer of ice began to slowly melt, turning into dark, wet patches.

The party members exchanged glances.

Without a doubt, those were the tiles with higher temperatures!

A few more minutes passed, and a clear map of the danger appeared on the corridor floor.

The ice on the tiles with higher temperatures had all melted.

The tiles still covered in ice were the cooler ones.

A clear path was revealed.

"You’re really something else..." Gray murmured in admiration.

"We can’t lower our guard completely yet,"

Zelir said. "We need to test it some more."

After all the ice had melted, Hill tossed a rock onto one of the confirmed cool tiles.

"TOCK..."

The rock landed squarely on the tile, sending up a small splash of water.

Nothing happened in the corridor.

"Try a heavier one?" Zelir suggested.

So Hill threw another fist-sized rock over.

It landed with a sufficiently heavy sound.

"THUD...!"

Still, nothing happened.

Then, with precise control over her strength, Hill tossed a sufficiently heavy rock onto every single cool tile.

The rocks landed on the surfaces of the cool tiles without triggering anything.

She continued this all the way to the end of the corridor, mapping out a completely safe path.

"Looks like it’s safe," Valles said, sighing in relief.

Despite this, everyone still felt uneasy about actually stepping into the middle of the traps.

They had to go. The question was... who would go first?

In the end, Marcus stepped forward, his expression resolute.

"I’m the captain, I’ll go first!"

"A true captain!" Gray gave a thumbs-up.

Marcus took a deep breath and circulated his Fighting Qi, forming a protective barrier around his body.

Then...

He hovered his foot over one of the rock-tested safe tiles.

He brought it down.

At first, it was just a light touch.

Nothing happened.

Then Marcus gritted his teeth and gradually put his full weight onto the tile, planting both feet firmly.

His own weight, plus his full suit of Armor.

That was a weight of at least 275 pounds.

Safe and sound.

"Phew..."

Only then did Marcus’s tense heart begin to relax.

With the success of the first step, the rest was just a test of courage.

Marcus mustered his courage and stepped onto the second safe tile.

And so he continued, one tile, then another, and another.

When Marcus’s boots landed on the normal ground at the end of the corridor, a great weight was lifted from everyone’s minds.

He’d made it to the other side!

Marcus wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, his face full of lingering fear.

But when he turned back, his expression was once again resolute.

"It’s fine! Come on over!"

Valles, Gray, Hill, and finally Zelir.

One by one, they all safely passed through the corridor, successfully avoiding the Steam Traps.

Standing before a heavy stone door, Zelir tried giving it a gentle push.

He didn’t feel the resistance he expected. Instead, thanks to some clever counterweight system, the stone door opened with surprising ease.

As soon as a crack opened, a fresh fragrance washed over them, like mountain morning dew or the scent of honey.

The scent was so rich it was almost tangible, a refreshing aroma that washed away all worldly cares and soothed their frayed nerves.

The door opened completely.

What greeted their eyes was an ancient indoor botanical garden of astonishing scale.

The space inside was vast, stretching for dozens of yards in length and width. It was remarkably well-preserved, showing no signs of decay.

A rock ceiling dozens of yards thick loomed overhead, yet a huge, circular skylight had been carved out of it by hand.

A soft halo of light streamed down from the skylight, perfectly illuminating a flower bed in the center of the room.

At first, Zelir was a little worried that what was planted inside would be even larger Corpse Flowers.

But now it seemed there were good things in the Central Courtyard Garden after all.

The few Magic Plants blooming in the flower bed were, without a doubt, exceptionally precious!

Zelir’s eyes lit up, and he walked over quickly.

On the far left of the bed grew several flowers as translucent as emeralds, a faint, soft light flowing across their leaves.

Zelir took out the Common Magical Plants Atlas from his Storage Pouch and found the description of this plant.

Vitality Orchid.

The essential main ingredient for making Vitality Potions.

A Vitality Potion could boost the user’s Physical Strength, allowing them to go for at least three days without feeling tired, and it had no serious side effects.

At most, one would fall into an especially deep sleep after the effects wore off.

In the other beds, many different varieties of Magic Plants were planted sporadically.

Evening Primrose.

A cluster of flowers emitting a cool, silver glow, as if condensed from moonlight.

The petals were translucent, and as they swayed gently, they would sprinkle down silver dust.

It could be used to concoct Spiritual Light Potions to quickly restore Magic Power.

Besides restoring Magic Power, the Spiritual Light Potion also provided a Gain effect that continuously increased the rate of Magic Power recovery.

Also very valuable.

Gale Wind Golden Bell.

This was a strange vine-like plant hanging from a wooden frame.

The fruit it bore looked like strings of golden wind chimes. They swayed on their own, even without a breeze, emitting a crisp, pleasant chiming sound.

The most magical thing was that each fruit was surrounded by a tiny whirlwind. If picked carelessly, the fruit would even fly away on the wind by itself.

Firethorn.

A special Magic Plant that grew in dry soil.

It had no leaves, only crimson, thorny stems like red-hot branding irons, with a small red flower blooming at the tip.

Around the Firethorn, the air shimmered as if distorted by a heatwave.

It was the essential main ingredient for concocting Flaming Potions.

Flaming Potions could greatly enhance the power of the user’s Fire Attribute Magic, allowing them to unleash even more destructive effects!

It was worth mentioning that Firethorns had to be planted alone, otherwise their high temperature would cause surrounding plants to wither and burn.

Zelir wasn’t the only one identifying them; Hill also recognized a Magic Plant.

Ghostly Night-blooming Cereus.

It was planted in a corner of the flower bed, intentionally avoiding direct exposure to the light from the skylight.

The petals of the Ghostly Night-blooming Cereus were wreathed in a faint smoke, which constantly gathered, dispersed, and changed shape.

Hill had heard of it. It was the main ingredient for making Invisibility Potions, arguably an Assassin’s favorite Magic Potion.

It was just so valuable that basically no Low Tier Assassins could afford it.

Seeing the overjoyed look on Zelir’s face, Gray was a bit confused.

"Are these flowers and grasses... really that valuable? Are they worth as much as Magic Crystals?"

"Of course!"

Zelir answered with certainty. "That Magic Plant right next to you would sell for at least this much...!"

Zelir spread his fingers.

"Five Gold Coins?" Gray ventured a high guess.

After all, a bottle of Healing Potion only cost Eight Gold Coins.

"Fifty Gold Coins!"

Zelir said excitedly, "And that’s the absolute lowest market price!"

Gray jumped at the price, quickly retracting the hand that was about to touch a petal, terrified of damaging it.

’Good grief...’

’A single Magic Plant, just as a raw ingredient, sells for fifty Gold Coins.’

’Then wouldn’t a Magic Potion made from it cost over a hundred Gold Coins?’

’What kind of person could even afford to drink something like that?’
