My Magic Has No Upper Limit

Chapter 268 - 267: This Is a Master Mage

Zelir even made a point to ask Mage Hedley if she wanted to be at the very back.

Mage Hedley firmly shook her head and refused.

"It’s more reassuring to have someone protecting my back. I’ll leave this heavy burden to you, Zelir."

And so, Zelir naturally stayed in his favorite position: the rear of the party.

From a practical standpoint, actually.

Zelir and Mage Hedley, buffed by Fog Flowing Gauze and Magic Barrier, had higher Defense Power than Todd and Reddy.

However, the two men insisted on taking the lead, claiming they couldn’t let the two esteemed Mages come to any harm.

So, they could only go along with them.

After entering the cave passage, the light grew increasingly dim.

The ground underfoot was slick and muddy, with an unpleasant stickiness to each step. Occasionally, the crisp sound of kicking a bone fragment could be heard.

The cave walls were covered in grayish-green moss, and water droplets dripped constantly. The "DRIP... DRIP..." echo sounded particularly eerie in the enclosed space.

They hadn’t been walking for long when a faint CLINK-CLANK sound drifted from a corner up ahead.

The group deliberately lightened their steps.

Past the corner was the end of the cave.

A wide, naturally formed cavern hall came into view, illuminated by two burning bonfires.

Just as Zelir had said... this was a goblin gathering place.

There were twelve goblins in the hall, all with the familiar appearance of green-skinned mongrels.

Short statures, arms that reached past their knees, and ugly faces.

They were hammering or sharpening stones in their hands, looking as if they were making weapons.

But what was most eye-catching was the center of the hall.

A pelt from some unknown animal was spread out there, and on it lay a large creature whose physique was clearly different from that of an ordinary goblin. It was muscular and ferocious-looking.

A Beastman Goblin.

"How disgusting..."

Seeing this scene, Mage Hedley subconsciously frowned and took a few steps back.

The air currents shifted, carrying a scent that didn’t belong in the cave.

A goblin sharpening a stone suddenly stopped what it was doing.

It twitched its nose, its nostrils flaring, and its grayish-green ears perked up.

The goblin had smelled it.

The scent of humans!

The goblin whipped its head around, its yellow eyes, filled with greed and cruelty, locking onto the four people at the entrance of the passage.

"GUK-GUK-GAGA! GUK-GUK-GAGA!!!"

All the goblins’ gazes turned toward them at once.

The moment they discovered the humans, the cave exploded into chaos.

"GAGA!!"

With excited, strange cries, the goblins prepared to rush over all at once.

’They were originally going to wait until their weapons were finished before raiding the village, but they didn’t expect humans to personally deliver themselves as a meal!’

’We can eat human flesh!’

"ROAR!!!"

Even the Beastman Goblin, who had been dozing with its eyes half-closed, was instantly jolted awake.

It snatched up the crude stone club by its feet and let out a roar.

"M-Mage, what... what do we do?!"

Seeing this, Todd and Reddy’s faces immediately turned pale with fright, and their words came out in a stutter.

"Move."

Zelir said simply.

Todd and Reddy immediately jumped aside.

Zelir took a step forward and held out his Magic Wand.

"HUMMM..."

A scorching fiery light appeared, and the temperature inside the cave rose in an instant.

The Spell Structure finished charging, and the Magic was released.

Fractal Fire!

With a sharp sound, the core Flame shot out!

There were twelve goblins in the cave, so the core Flame also split into twelve Fireballs.

Each Fireball precisely found its designated green-skinned head.

"Gak?!"

The goblin at the very front only had time to let out a final, short cry of confusion.

Then, its world was devoured by a dazzling red light.

"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!..."

A series of dense explosions rang out one after another inside the cavern, like grand holiday fireworks, illuminating the dark cave as brightly as day.

The ordinary goblins couldn’t even manage to scream.

The high-temperature Flame, wrapped in Arcane Magic’s impact, instantly blew apart more than half of their bodies.

The charred flesh and blood didn’t even have a chance to splatter before it was directly carbonized mid-air by the terrifying heat, turning into puffs of stinking black ash.

The Beastman Goblin had thick skin and tough flesh, so it wasn’t a fatal blow.

However, the Fractal Fire’s Fireball still blasted open its chest, sending it flying and slamming it to the ground.

"ROAR... AAGH!!"

The Beastman Goblin wasn’t dead, but this was perhaps more painful than death.

A bowl-sized, charred, bloody hole had appeared on its chest, the surrounding flesh completely cooked.

The searing pain of its burning internal organs assaulted its nerves, causing the Beastman Goblin to roll around frantically on the ground, wailing in agony.

With just one move, he had almost annihilated the entire Goblin Community.

"Oh my god..."

Todd and Reddy both stared wide-eyed, their expressions filled with disbelief.

Their concept of combat was still stuck at the level of close-quarters, hand-to-hand, life-or-death struggles.

But Zelir just lifted his hand, a flash of light, an explosion.

And it was all over. He hadn’t even gotten his clothes dirty.

’Is this what a Mage is capable of?’

Mage Hedley, on the other hand, wasn’t too surprised by the power of the Magic Zelir had cast; she could do the same.

It was just that she really couldn’t slaughter a whole nest of goblins with a deadpan expression like Zelir.

The cave was now filled with dancing flames and hot winds. Besides the whistling of the wind, only the pained howls of the Beastman Goblin remained.

A clear blue light once again bloomed at the tip of the Night Peace Staff.

This time, an Arcane Missile was forming.

"Heh... it’s been a while since I’ve used this Magic," Zelir chuckled softly.

A Rhombus Missile shot out.

With a BANG, the Arcane Missile hit, and the Beastman Goblin’s head shattered on impact.

Its massive body twitched violently once, then fell silent.

’Done.’

Level 26 (511/600) -> Level 27 (66/625), Level Up!

This time, the reward for 5% analysis progress on the Great Creation Skill took effect.

The number of distributable attribute points per level up had impressively reached six!

Power: 98 -> 99 -> 102

Agility: 114 -> 115

Constitution: 101 -> 102

Spirit: 133 -> 139

Intelligence: 144

Perception: 32

Charm: 61

Lucky: 51

Magic Contract

Zelir allocated all six attribute points to his Spirit Attribute.

’No matter what, I should pump up Spirit first. It’d be good to reach the three-meter height of the Crystal Pillar sooner.’

As for the three extra attribute points granted by Magic Contract, Zelir didn’t continue adding to Agility, but instead put them into Power.

His Agility Attribute had already been increased many times and was now far ahead of the others.

Now, Zelir’s relatively weaker stats were Power and Constitution.

’I need to slowly bring these two up. I can’t have any obvious weak spots.’

The boost from Spirit made Zelir feel as if his sea of consciousness had expanded again, able to hold more Magic Power.

Furthermore, the potency of every bit of his Magic Power had also increased.

Even the aftereffects of overdrawing Magic Power from the Source Energy Crystal Stone were largely washed away by the warm current from leveling up.

The stinging sensation diminished, and his recovery speeded up again.

Besides that, Zelir noticed something else.

The description for Magic Contract stated that it increases Strength, Agility, and Constitution by twenty-five percent of his Spirit Attribute’s value.

This time, Zelir had added six points to Spirit. Logically, his Strength, Agility, and Constitution should have increased by 1.5, but the values on his stat panel had still only gone up by one point each.

’Hmm...’

’Does it automatically truncate the decimal?’

Zelir guessed inwardly.

’Next time I level up, I’ll increase Spirit by two points and see if Strength, Agility, and Constitution increase by a full point.’

’The panel better not just swallow that remainder...’
