DanMachi: Annihilation Maker in DanMachi World!

Chapter 116: Ais Beats Up the Loki Familia

Is this a dream?

Riveria couldn't help but doubt her own eyes.

This world certainly had its share of rule-breaking monsters, like that Witch from the Hera Familia.

Finn stared at the little girl in front of them, equally shocked, but his instincts told him that the girl standing there was a real person, not some creature born of a dream.

Such an incredibly cute little girl!!

Loki's eyes were practically sparkling.

While she didn't possess Freya's ability to see through souls, gods could often read a person perfectly just by looking at their exterior.

Children around this age were generally messy little terrors regardless of gender, and only a rare few possessed any real capability to care for themselves—let alone exhibit such sharp movements and exceptional bearing.

'Genius' wasn't enough to describe this type of person. It was as if she were born noble, destined from birth to stand at the absolute pinnacle.

"Loki." Riveria massaged her temples at the sight of Loki's reaction. She reached out, grabbing Loki to stop her from lunging forward. "Don't scare her. What if she takes a swing at you with that sword?"

"Relax, relax! I can use my divine power here, remember? There's no way I'd get chopped down that easily." Loki puffed out her chest, then smoothly pivoted. "But you have a point. It'd be a massive waste to scare off a top-tier little girl like her."

Riveria's mouth twitched. She had no choice but to let go of Loki, though she kept a vigilant eye on the girl.

"Hello there, little one! What's your name?" Loki walked over, asking with a beaming smile.

"The way you smile... is really gross." Ais frowned, taking a step back.

Hearing this, Loki's face instantly froze.

To be honest, being called gross by anyone else would normally piss Loki off.

But coming from Ais, it just felt like a critical hit to the heart.

Kids didn't have any malicious intent; they just spoke their minds. Furthermore, Ais was sharp enough to sense the overwhelming aura of a landmine radiating from Loki's perverted movements.

"Serves you right." Riveria couldn't help but gloat as she watched Loki stand there dumbfounded.

If this were the original Ais, she wouldn't even have bothered with sharp remarks—she wouldn't have cared about anything other than her revenge.

But the current Ais was different.

She pointed her sword at the Loki Familia members and declared, "Congratulations on reaching the checkpoint. I am the boss of the first floor, Ais Wallenstein."

"Ooh! If you're such a cute floor boss, does that mean we get to take you home if we beat you?" Loki grinned, looking entirely unaffected by her earlier emotional damage.

"No." Ais replied with utter seriousness. "According to the rules, if you can defeat me, you earn the right to ask for information regarding this world. I will tell you everything I am permitted to share."

"If you lose, or if you die by my hand, go back and train harder. Stop making fools of yourselves."

"How are we supposed to go back and train if we're dead?" Loki retorted, narrowing her eyes. "Don't tell me dying in this world doesn't actually mean dying out there?"

Ais didn't answer, merely keeping her sword leveled at them.

She had already been instructed on this. The moment she opened her mouth, the gods would be able to discern truth from lies—even pinpointing the exact ratio of truth to falsehood. When facing their own Familia members, gods sometimes pretended not to notice, but they never missed a beat when they were serious. Therefore, silence was the best strategy.

"Not taking the bait, huh." Loki muttered, turning to Finn. "What's the play?"

"How do you want to do this?" Finn looked at Ais. "One-on-one, or all of us at once?"

"Up to you." Ais replied. "This is a trial—both for you, and for me."

"It doesn't matter if the battlefield is to my disadvantage."

"Because I will cut you all down right here."

This little girl... is so cocky! But strangely cool.

The group exchanged odd looks, their expressions complex as they stared at Ais.

Loki, however, saw right through it. I bet someone taught her to say that. What terrible taste.

Dammit, she's too cute! Why isn't this little girl in my Familia?! Loki screamed internally.

"Gareth, go give it a try." Finn signaled.

"Right." Gareth stepped forward. "I might not have my weapon on me, but my strength and endurance are nothing to sneeze at. You'd best be careful, little lady."

Gareth was a dwarf. The dwarves of this world weren't exactly short; they were just incredibly broad and thick. Compared to the balanced stats of humans, dwarven physiques heavily favored strength and endurance, and Gareth was an absolute anomaly even among dwarves.

"Come." Ais said calmly, her golden eyes burning with the will to fight.

The instant Gareth stepped fully into the open, Ais leaned forward. With a thunderous boom, she exploded into motion like an arrow released from a bowstring.

So fast!!

Gareth was startled. He swiped a hand toward her, but only managed to scatter a few drops of blood.

She broke my defense?! Gareth locked onto her position.

Front left!

Enduring the damage, Gareth lunged to grab Ais, but his hand closed around nothing but afterimages.

She darted around him at breakneck speeds, far surpassing his own, even if her damage output was slightly lacking.

If Gareth had his weapon, his reflexes and adaptability might have allowed him to block her strikes, but taking the hits head-on without one was a different story.

While his Dexterity and Agility weren't actually low, they fell far short when compared to Ais.

A Level 2 Ais possessed the baseline strength of a standard Level 3, and her manipulation of life energy allowed her to boost her combat parameters to the equivalent of a Level 4.

"Gareth is being completely played with."

Finn remarked, "Truly impressive."

Gareth's combat ability was exceptionally high. Even unarmed, it took more than mere speed and agility to make a fool out of him.

Finn could tell that Ais wasn't losing her balance or composure; her stats were incredibly high, and her technique was equally flawless.

If he knew who Ais's teacher was, he probably wouldn't be so surprised.

"But she can't deal any real damage to Gareth," Riveria noted.

Just as she finished speaking, Gareth suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood.

Ais didn't press the attack; instead, she leaped back to create distance.

"Gareth!"

The group watched in shock as Gareth's eyes turned bloodshot and the veins on his forehead bulged.

"I'm dizzy." Gareth frowned. "My vision is blurring."

"The wounds don't feel deep, but my body isn't listening to me. What a bizarre injury."

"What did you do?" They turned their gazes to Ais.

"You're really strong, old man." Ais looked at Gareth earnestly. "I almost thought the Life Sage Art wasn't working on you."

"Life Sage Art?" Loki asked, her eyes narrowing.

The Life Sage Art disrupted the body's internal functions; it was not something standard healing magic could cure.

Ais explained, "Your life force is very strong, old man. You'll probably last a year or two before you die."

Hearing this, the atmosphere among the Loki Familia grew incredibly heavy.

This little girl's abilities... are incredibly dangerous!!
