Chapter 355 - 355: The More They Guessed, the More Incredible He Seemed
The moment they stepped outside, Hao Li started complaining to Ying Ji, "Sister Ying, Little Brother Zhao just offered to help you improve your Magic. Why didn't you agree?"
Ying Ji glanced at Lu Qing, who was standing nearby, and said in a low voice, "Do you think I'm a fool? The Magic passed down in my family has been refined over countless generations. No matter how incredible Zhao Yuan is, there's no way he could offer any improvements. In my opinion, it's a safe bet he's just trying to use this as an excuse to steal my family's Witch Priest Magic!"
To her credit, Ying Ji was quite clever; she had guessed Zhao Yuan's intentions in an instant.
But Hao Li didn't see it that way. He shook his head and said, "Sister Ying, you've misunderstood Little Brother Zhao. If he made the offer, he must be confident he can actually help you improve your Magic! You don't know, but he gave me a lot of advice on Tripod Food before. After I tried it, my results really were much better than before..."
Hao Li recounted how Zhao Yuan had guided him, and Ying Ji found herself swayed. Remembering that he had read the Witch and Priest Secret Record, she couldn't help but wonder, 'Could this kid really have a way to help me improve my Magic?'
Hao Li then offered a suggestion. "Sister Ying, if you're still skeptical, why not show Little Brother Zhao one or two of your less secretive forms of Magic first? If he really gives you a good suggestion for improving them, you can show him the others and ask for his help then."
Ying Ji considered it. The idea was sound, so she nodded in agreement. "Alright, I'll do as you say!" Then her brow furrowed, and she mumbled in confusion, "But what do you think? Zhao Yuan wouldn't be willing to help me improve my Magic for no reason, would he? What could he possibly want?"
Hao Li shook his head. "That I don't know. You'll have to ask him yourself when the time comes."
While the two were whispering, back in the tea room, Zhao Yuan opened his Storage Ring Space and took out a pen and paper. He then activated his Tracking Technique, silently chanting in his mind, 'Tell me the current address of the master of the Teng Mo I destroyed today!'
Under the effect of the Tracking Technique, the pen in Zhao Yuan's hand began to move on its own. It drew a map on the paper and wrote out a short sentence.
"Huh?"
After seeing the sentence, Zhao Yuan froze, his face a mask of astonishment. Confirming he hadn't misread it, he put the pen back into his Storage Ring Space, pushed the door open, and walked out holding the paper with the address.
Lu Qing and the other two immediately surrounded him, asking in unison, "How did it go? Did you track down the culprit?"
"The address is here. See for yourselves." Zhao Yuan handed the paper to Lu Qing.
Lu Qing unfolded it and read, "Lotus Pond Moonlight District? I know this place. It's another high-end residential area, very close to the Wood Garden Villa Area!"
Hao Li and Ying Ji leaned in, curiously peering at the contents of the paper.
"Huh? Hey, look, there's another line of text written here." Hao Li suddenly noticed another sentence after the address. He read it aloud: "This person is dead... What's going on? The culprit is already dead? No way! When did he die?"
The three of them looked up at Zhao Yuan in unison.
"Don't look at me." Zhao Yuan gave a wry smile and waved his hands. "I don't know what's going on either. We'll have to go to the Lotus Pond Moonlight District to figure this all out."
Lu Qing nodded. "There's no time to lose. Let's go now!"
"I'll go with you!" Ying Ji volunteered.
"I'm going too, I'm going too," Hao Li chimed in, eager to join the excitement. He didn't really care if the culprit was dead or alive; the twisting and turning nature of the case had simply piqued his curiosity.
The four of them walked out of the villa. In the courtyard, the Hundred Insects Gu had not yet fully awakened. Seeing them staggering about as if drunk, Ying Ji couldn't help but marvel silently. She had been Raising Gu for so many years, but this was the first time she had ever seen such a strange situation.
This also lessened her disdain for Zhao Yuan, if only slightly.
Ying Ji took out her Bone Flute and blew a note. The awakened Hundred Insects Gu immediately dragged their still-snoozing companions and burrowed into the flowers, plants, and soil, vanishing in an instant.
After finishing, she hurried to catch up with the group and got into Lu Qing's car with them.
Once everyone was in, Lu Qing started the car and drove toward the Lotus Pond Moonlight District.
On the way, Hao Li couldn't contain his curiosity and asked, "Little Brother Zhao, how exactly did you determine the culprit's address?"
Zhao Yuan smiled and uttered a single word: "Secret."
Seeing that Zhao Yuan wouldn't say, Hao Li didn't press the issue, though he couldn't help but speculate curiously in his mind.
Lu Qing and Ying Ji were also speculating.
The address Zhao Yuan had provided was not only detailed down to the apartment number, but he had even drawn a map. This wasn't information an ordinary informant could provide.
Ying Ji glanced at Zhao Yuan, murmuring to herself, 'Could it be that he's also proficient in the Underworld Technique? No, that's not right. I've used the Underworld Technique to ask Ghost Souls for the culprit's address before but came up with nothing. That's because the culprit is also a Cultivator from the Witch and Priest School and knows a Secret Technique to evade detection by Ghost Souls... '
Suddenly, a new thought popped into Ying Ji's mind. 'Could it be that when he used the Underworld Technique, he didn't summon a Ghost Soul, but a Ghost God?'
Ghost Soul and Ghost God. The names were almost the same, but their power was completely different! If Zhao Yuan had summoned a Ghost God, then it wouldn't be surprising at all that he could get such a detailed address! However, the method for summoning a Ghost God through the Underworld Technique was lost long ago. Did Zhao Yuan really know this Secret Technique?
Unable to suppress her doubts, Ying Ji asked outright, "Zhao Yuan, do you know the method for summoning a Ghost God through the Underworld Technique?"
"Summoning a Ghost God?" Zhao Yuan was taken aback for a moment, then shook his head. "No!"
'Like hell you don't!' Ying Ji didn't believe him for a second. 'You definitely know how to summon a Ghost God; you just don't want anyone to know! That's right, you've read the Witch and Priest Secret Record, so it's not strange that you would know this Secret Technique!'
Ying Ji suddenly realized that if Zhao Yuan knew how to summon a Ghost God, then his attainments and knowledge of the Witch and Priest School were no less than her own—and likely much greater! Perhaps he really could give her some good suggestions for improvement.
At this thought, Ying Ji made a secret decision. After this matter was settled, she would definitely take out one of her Magic techniques and test whether Zhao Yuan could really offer a way to improve it. As long as he could, she would agree to give him any treasure he wanted without hesitation!
Treasures were nice, but they were nothing compared to an improved form of Magic.
The Lotus Pond Moonlight District was indeed very close to the Wood Garden Villa Area. A little over ten minutes later, the car pulled into the district and stopped downstairs from Building C, where the culprit was located.
The four of them got out of the car, took the elevator to the 17th floor, and arrived at the door of room 17D.
The door was shut tight, and it was silent inside, but the four of them could smell the faint scent of blood and rot seeping out from under the door.
There was definitely something wrong with this room!
