Chapter 161: The Dog Gains Weight Again…
"Summon Dog!"
The moment Caelum spoke, Voomie, who was near them, instantly disappeared and reappeared in his hands.
"W-What?"
Before she could react, Caelum grabbed her by the cheeks.
"You little cheater...!"
"W-Woowowowo?!"
Voomie's face was squished from both sides as she desperately flailed her paws.
Caelum had finally connected all the dots.
No wonder she had been acting so suspicious before the competition.
No wonder Jojo and she had been whispering with Instructor Stalin.
No wonder they had looked so relaxed while he and Bonjour were racing through five dungeon floors.
They hadn't raced at all!
They had simply taken a shortcut.
Caelum shot Jojo a murderous glare.
The panda immediately looked elsewhere and began admiring the scenery.
Although Caelum hadn't yet confirmed the details with Instructor Stalin, the conclusion was obvious.
Even Bonjour had entered the sixth floor after him.
So how could these two possibly have arrived there before both of them?
There had to be a backdoor.
The cheating was so blatant that it almost deserved admiration.
It didn't even look like the pair had exerted themselves.
Instead, they looked as though they had taken a leisurely stroll through the park.
Just then, Seth gently pried Voomie away from Caelum.
"Now, no need to bully your own summon Caelum."
He examined the little dog with interest.
"A Chihuchi… this is quite an interesting summon."
Instead of relaxing after escaping Caelum's grasp, Voomie became suspicious.
"...Who are you?"
She stared at the unfamiliar man holding her.
Seth smiled.
"I am your summoner's father."
Voomie's eyes instantly widened.
'…The Owner's Father?!'
Then another thought exploded inside her head.
'My free meal ticket!'
She already knew that Caelum's family belonged to one of the Empire's greatest noble houses.
If she could somehow move into their estate, her future would be perfect.
No more exhausting combat classes.
No more hiding while secretly stealing extra meals.
No more pretending she wasn't hungry every five minutes.
A bright future filled with delicious food stretched before her eyes.
An unusually dangerous smile appeared on the little dog's face.
Seth noticed it but merely chuckled.
"So, are you hungry?"
Voomie's ears and tail immediately stood upright.
"Of course! I've been waiting for the Owner's Father to ask exactly that!"
She answered without even a second of hesitation.
This time Caelum didn't interfere.
He decided to let his father give her a meal.
Unfortunately, that single decision would become one of the greatest mistakes of his young life.
Meanwhile, after a talk, Bonjour gathered the others as they quietly began dismantling the campsite.
Skyler folded the tent.
Ryan packed away the remaining supplies.
Sénior carefully destroyed the earthen totems he had built, making sure not to leave traces behind.
The Headmaster had instructed everyone to leave the dungeon as soon as possible.
After all, the Goblin and Undead Dungeon had suffered enough excitement for one day.
As the group finished packing their belongings, everyone silently reached the same conclusion.
It had been an unbelievably long morning.
***
"Which one will you choose?"
As they walked through the school, Seth held out three mysterious buns before Voomie.
The group was currently heading toward Caelum and Paul's dormitory.
Although everyone had experienced an eventful morning, it was Caelum and Bonjour who had truly gone through the most.
They had fought monsters, unknowingly uncovered a hidden conspiracy, met an ancient lich from a forgotten era.
And somehow returned with said lich now serving as the school's new Dungeon Architect.
Seth had also only just reunited with his son after quite some time.
Naturally, the father and son had plenty to catch up on.
As for the others, they had already agreed to meet again this evening before parting ways for now.
Meanwhile, Voomie had entered the most important decision of her life.
Floating before her were three identical-looking buns.
At first glance, there was almost no difference between them.
Only the cream decorating the top varied in color.
One shimmered like polished gold.
One gleamed with a silvery sheen.
The last was pure white, as pristine as fresh snow.
Perhaps, even the ingredients used to make them were different.
Nearby, Caelum noticed something unusual.
Ever since Seth had appeared, Grozni had become completely silent.
The ethereal skull that usually floated above Caelum's shoulder had long since vanished.
The ancient lich had dismissed his projection without a word.
Caelum couldn't help finding it strange.
'What's gotten into him? Is he avoiding Father?'
His first thought was quickly discarded that left only one possibility.
Caelum nodded to himself.
'Father is simply that powerful.'
His confidence in his family's background rose another level.
Voomie was still staring intently at the three buns.
She sniffed the golden bun, then the silver one, and finally the white.
After several moments of extremely serious consideration, she confidently pointed a paw.
"I choose you woof!"
It was the golden bun.
Seth smiled.
"Your instincts are quite good. This is a special bun baked from Moon-Breeze Wheat and topped with cream made from the milk of a Divine Beast."
He nodded in approval.
'As expected of a Chihuchi.'
The remaining two buns quietly dissolved into particles of light before disappearing entirely.
Without wasting another second, Voomie swallowed the golden bun whole.
One bite and they were gone.
"..."
Everyone blinked.
She hadn't even chewed.
"Oh, I nearly forgot to mention this but, the bun also grants whoever eats it their most natural body shape." Seth spoke as casually as if discussing the weather.
"..."
They had just arrived outside Caelum and Paul's room.
And at that exact moment.
"WOOOOOOF!!"
Voomie threw her head toward the ceiling and let out a howl that echoed through the hallway.
An indescribable sweetness flooded every part of her body.
Golden light burst from her fluffy fur.
The dazzling radiance surrounded her tiny body as everyone instinctively took a step back.
Puff!
The light dispersed and silence filled the corridor.
Standing where the slim Voomie had been moments earlier.
Was a round, fluffy, undeniably chubby dog.
Voomie looked down at herself.
Then patted her stomach before gasping in joy.
"My natural shape has returned once again!"
She nearly cried tears of happiness.
It was a miracle.
For almost two months, she had endured relentless training.
She had exercised, ran, and had suffered through every painful attempt to lose weight.
And now, a single bite of one mysterious bun had completely undone all of it.
Voomie happily rolled onto her back, proudly displaying her restored round belly.
"…"
Caelum stared at the familiar chubby dog in disbelief.
