Chapter 706: A Long Story
Seeing the usually quiet Wang Kaiye looking at him with worry, the still-annoyed Bao Shengjie fell silent for a moment. Letting out a helpless sigh, he replied, "I’m fine."
After getting his answer, Wang Kaiye helped him up and said, "We should leave."
Realizing they were in Bai Hanyun’s bedroom, Hua Yuyu nodded and ordered, "Clean up the room before leaving."
"Yes, Captain."
While the others cleaned up the bedroom, Hua Yuyu went to look for Bai Hanyun. However, after searching the entire house, he still couldn’t find her.
After thinking for a moment, Hua Yuyu took out his phone and called her.
Meanwhile, in the VVIP room of the First Hospital, Gui Xiaoxu was sitting on the couch, having a conference call with his senior staff.
Du~ ruru~ ru~! Du~ ruru~ ru~!
Hearing the ringtone, Gui Xiaoxu raised his hand to interrupt the general manager’s report. Standing up, he walked to the bedside table and picked up Bai Hanyun’s phone.
Seeing Hua Yuyu’s name displayed on the screen, he answered, "This is Gui Xiaoxu. Come to the First Hospital in Fu Cheng Town. Miss Bai is in VVIP room number one."
The moment he heard this, Hua Yuyu’s expression sank. "Thank you."
Without wasting any more time, Hua Yuyu called out toward the upper floor, "You guys stay here and clean the house! I’m going to the First Hospital in Fu Cheng Town!"
After saying that, he quickly changed his clothes and rushed to the garage.
Upstairs, Wu Jun walked out of Bai Hanyun’s bedroom and looked downstairs, only to see the door close behind Hua Yuyu.
Frowning slightly, he fell into deep thought.
At the same time, after ending the call, Gui Xiaoxu put Bai Hanyun’s phone back on the bedside table and returned to the couch.
Sitting down, he leaned back and ordered, "Continue."
Hearing this, the general manager coughed lightly and resumed his report, while the other senior staff members quietly speculated about the identity of the woman in the hospital ward.
An hour later, Hua Yuyu arrived at the First Hospital in Fu Cheng Town.
Approaching the reception counter, he asked, "Excuse me, where is VVIP room number one?"
The nurse looked up from her work, then pointed to the right corridor and replied, "Take the elevator there to the twentieth floor. VVIP room number one is at the end of the corridor after you get out."
"Thank you." Hua Yuyu thanked her, then hurried to the elevator.
After waiting for a moment, the elevator arrived.
Ding.
Hua Yuyu suppressed his anxiety and waited until everyone stepped out before entering and pressing the button for the twentieth floor.
Two minutes later, he stepped out of the elevator. Following the nurse’s directions, he walked down the wide corridor.
Noticing two men in black standing guard, Hua Yuyu immediately knew which room was the VVIP room number one.
As he approached, one of the men stepped forward to stop him. "Sir, you can’t enter without permission."
Hua Yuyu looked at him and said, "I’m Miss Bai’s personal bodyguard, Hua Yuyu."
Hearing this, the two men exchanged glances before opening the door for him. "The boss is waiting inside."
Nodding at him, Hua Yuyu stepped into the spacious room filled with the faint smell of disinfectant.
Beep... beep... beep...
The steady sound of the monitor reached his ears as he scanned the ward. Seeing Gui Xiaoxu sitting on the couch, Hua Yuyu nodded at him before striding toward the bed.
Standing beside it, he looked at Bai Hanyun’s pale face in silence. Clenching his fists, he asked without looking away, "Was it you who saved Miss Bai?"
Hearing this, Gui Xiaoxu said, "Let’s end the meeting here. Send the report to my email."
After saying that, he ended the conference call without waiting for a response.
Turning to Hua Yuyu, Gui Xiaoxu calmly replied, "It wasn’t me, but a passerby. They found her unconscious in the middle of the road after a thunderbolt struck the suburbs of Fu Cheng Town."
At his words, Hua Yuyu’s eyes widened in shock. Turning around, he looked at Gui Xiaoxu and asked with disbelief, "What did you say? She was struck by lightning?"
Gui Xiaoxu shook his head. "I’m not entirely sure. However, based on the evidence at the scene, the police believe she was struck by lightning."
Hearing this, Hua Yuyu suddenly recalled something. His eyes flickered as he thought, ’No way... Could the lightning we saw from the border town before be connected to this?’
Noticing the slight change in his expression, Gui Xiaoxu asked, "Do you know something?"
Coming back to his senses, Hua Yuyu replied, "I’m not sure, but last night, when we were investigating something in the border town located in the Ancient World, my brothers and I saw a huge thunderbolt strike the ground."
Glancing at Bai Hanyun, he added, "If what you said is true, then that thunderbolt might be the one that struck Miss Bai."
Gui Xiaoxu pondered for a moment, then asked, "Can you tell me what happened in the Ancient World?"
Gesturing toward Hua Yuyu’s blood- and dust-covered face, he added, "You... don’t look well."
Hearing this, Hua Yuyu wiped his face with the back of his hand, only to see black blood on it. Lowering his hand, he said, "It’s a long story."
Gui Xiaoxu gestured for him to sit and replied, "What a coincidence. I happen to have some free time today."
Hua Yuyu recalled the scene when he entered the ward and thought, ’Looks like CEO Gui can lie without even blinking.’
After a brief silence, Hua Yuyu walked to the couch and sat across from Gui Xiaoxu.
"Where do you want me to begin?" he asked, pouring himself a glass of water.
Gui Xiaoxu smiled faintly. "From the moment I left the Ancient World."
Hua Yuyu paused for a second, then calmly took a sip of water before beginning his story.
As he explained everything that happened after Gui Xiaoxu left the Ancient World, time passed in the blink of an eye.
