Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress

Chapter 350 - 179: One Wave After Another (Part 2)

And so, over fifty thousand Demonized Creatures burst forth, charging directly into the heart of the battlefield.

The Ghosts were excellent at harassing the Alliance Soldiers, but they were far less effective against the Demonized Creatures. While the Demonized Creatures couldn’t finish off the Ghosts, they weren’t afraid of them either. They simply focused all their efforts on slaughtering the Undead.

"Damn it! Where did these Demonized Creatures come from!"

Li Ziyu slammed his fist on the battlement, seething with anger. ’Aren’t they just here to spoil everything!’

’A surprise attack at night. The first time I was on the verge of victory, the enemy produced 200,000 reinforcements. The second time I was about to win, tens of thousands of Demonized Creatures show up out of nowhere. I just want to win one damn time! Why is it so hard?’

The Alliance Soldiers were just as confused. They were shocked when they saw the Demonized Creatures, as they had always considered them to be no different from the Undead—just another enemy. But when they saw the creatures tear into the Undead, they realized they were there to help.

Their flagging morale instantly surged, and they resumed their battle against the Undead.

Fifty thousand Demonized Creatures wasn’t a large number. Compared to the millions of Undead, they were nothing. But they were a shot in the arm, giving courage to the Alliance Soldiers who had been on the verge of retreat and reigniting their will to fight.

The Demonized Creatures were merciless in their slaughter of the Undead. They were experts at killing. Word about the Undead had long since spread throughout the Underworld, so they all knew the Undead’s weakness: their heads. All you had to do was smash them.

Armed with this knowledge, killing the Undead became much simpler. A Demonized Creature could crush a Skeleton Undead’s skull with almost no effort. After all, these were only Low Level Undead, slow and with bones that weren’t very durable.

After shattering a Skeleton Undead’s skull, they would inhale, drawing in the escaping Soul Fire to accelerate the flow of Demonic Qi within their bodies.

Unlike the Alliance Soldiers, the Demonized Creatures grew stronger and more frenzied the more they fought. The Soul Fire of the Undead acted as the perfect stamina potion, and with a limitless, inexhaustible supply, they could fight on continuously without fear of exhaustion.

They were now killing to their hearts’ content, rampaging across the battlefield, utterly unstoppable. Ordinary Skeleton Undead were killed the moment they were met.

After absorbing so much Soul Fire, many Demonized Creatures began to level up right there on the battlefield. Their forms grew more ferocious and terrifying, and their killing power increased significantly.

As they leveled up, the Demonized Creatures slaughtered the Undead at an ever-increasing pace, so fast that Li Ziyu’s summoning could barely keep up. Meanwhile, the Alliance Army’s morale had soared, and they fought with renewed ferocity, beginning their charge toward the Undead Fortress.

The situation was becoming critical.

"Hahaha... This feels amazing! Absolutely amazing!"

"The Undead are a gift from the gods!"

"Kill! Kill! Kill!"

One after another, the Demonized Creatures that absorbed Soul Fire grew increasingly crazed. The thrill of their constantly growing power was so intoxicating they couldn’t possibly stop.

A two-horned Demonized Human, who had been screaming madly as he fought the Undead, suddenly froze after absorbing the Soul Fire of a Skeleton Undead. His expression grew rigid as he clutched his heart, collapsing to his knees and curling into a ball.

He ripped his clothes to shreds. Black veins, like writhing earthworms, pulsed across his body, and the black Demonic Qi spread over his skin like ink dropped into water.

The Demonized Human threw his head back, spread his arms wide, and let out a guttural roar.

"Holy shit, this guy’s leveling up!"

"Get back!"

Seeing this, the other Demonized Creatures immediately scattered, getting as far away as possible. They knew all too well what happened when one of their kind had just leveled up.

The Demonized Creatures knew, but the Undead and the Alliance Warriors did not. Too preoccupied with their own battles, they paid no mind to the creature’s transformation.

BOOM—

A blast of black Demonic Qi erupted from the transforming Demonized Human like an exploding bomb, spreading outward in a roiling black fog. The surrounding Undead and Alliance Soldiers who couldn’t escape in time were engulfed, their flesh and bone instantly corroded into nothingness.

WHOOSH! A pair of black bat-like wings unfurled, stirring the black fog of Demonic Qi. The Demonized Human reappeared, though in his current state, he could no longer be called Human. He was now a Demon.

That’s right. He was a Demon. A brand new Demon had been born.

A pair of wide, bat-like wings sprouted from his back. Long, curved horns like a goat’s grew from his head, and sharp claws extended from his fingertips. His lower legs were covered in long black fur, and his feet had transformed into hooves. His eyes were now completely blood-red.

With a flap of his wings, the newly transformed creature hovered in the air. He looked over his new body, his ruby-red Gemstone eyes filled with boundless joy and surprise.

’I did it. I’ve finally reached Tier Two—Demon Transformation!’

The transformed Demon let out a joyous roar. With a casual wave of his hand, he hurled a black Fireball, striking a distant Skeleton Undead that was walking toward him.

Its charred bones scattered to the ground, and its Soul Fire dissipated in an instant.

The newly-made Demon looked at his palm, then up at the Ghosts circling in the sky. With a sharp flick of his wrist, he shot another black Fireball. It struck a Ghost just as it was about to ambush an Alliance Soldier. The Ghost shrieked and looked down at its own body.

A gaping hole had appeared in its chest, the edges of which were steadily turning to ash.

"No! This is impossible!"

The Ghost cried out in disbelief as its body was quickly incinerated, dissipating into nothing.
