Chapter 13: Basic Knowledge
"A cup of flour, seasoned salt, pepper, two large eggs, breadcrumbs, two chicken breasts, even though I prefer yours, and olive oil..." Ray murmured as he named all the ingredients kept on the kitchen shelf. Apparently, he wasn't even aware of most of their names.
Aggie wasn't home, she had a routine of attending yoga classes with the elder ladies of the neighborhood.
"Great job, but I'm not really in a good enough mood to bear with your advances today." Meloni then moved all the ingredients aside and started cooking the nuggets.
"Yeah, I can see that...What is it that's bothering you? As your mentor, I think I'm entitled to know the reason behind your uncanny behaviour..." He asked, hopping on top of the fridge.
"Nothing external, just the time of the month..." She replied vaguely.
"Time of the month?" Ray was confused. He asked, tilting his head.
Sigh~"You don't know about periods?" She questioned back in frustration.
"Periods?" He asked. No, Ray wasn't. He was someone raised in a political and militant background. He knows everything about tactics, statecraft, core science, and combat arts. In a clan where empathy and social bonds are either weak or manipulated, daily human discomforts were useless distractions.
"You don't know?" Meloni turned to face him with squinted brows.
