True Apocalypse Game

Chapter 354 - 333: Wormhole Mutation

As a person of high status and considerable wealth in the Middle East Region, Abdullah’s hobbies were also somewhat out of the ordinary.

Unlike the younger generation who favored sports cars and yachts, Abdullah was more passionate about collecting antiques—especially large ones.

For example, a giant airship from a hundred years ago.

For example, a tank from the World War I era.

For example, a bronze chariot from Hua Country’s Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods.

For example, a German submarine from the World War II era.

For example, a colossal Sail Warship from the late Age of Sail.

This Duke of Wellington Class Sail Warship before his eyes was one of his favorite collectibles. He had spent several hundred million US Dollars to acquire it from an old noble family in France through various complex channels.

Moreover, after purchasing it, he had undertaken massive renovations, replacing many of the rusted structural components with new metal and encasing the outer hull in titanium alloy, transforming the old antique into an ironclad Sail Warship.

The warship had also been originally fitted with a Steam Engine, and Abdullah, while preserving its original appearance, had also made some modifications to it.

As a man from the Middle East, he had always held a certain fascination for the Age of Sail.

After all, the people of the Middle East, much like a certain great power in the East, had spectacularly missed out on that era.

Back then, the people of the Middle East could only watch as those mighty Western battleships flaunted their power, riding the wind and waves through the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and even the Persian Gulf, dumping opium and cheap industrial goods on their shores.

Thus, Abdullah hadn’t bought this Sail Warship merely for his collection; he also wanted to sail it through the Persian Gulf himself, fulfilling a long-held dream.

Under the light of a full moon, Abdullah had once stood at the bow, slowly piloting this Sail Warship through the Persian Gulf, soaking in the heroic grandeur of the bygone Age of Sail.

What he hadn’t expected, however, was that just a few days ago, not long after entering "True Apocalypse Game 1.0," he had received a direct order from the Commander!

The Commander himself had assigned him a mission!

Upon receiving the news, Abdullah was so overcome with excitement that he couldn’t control himself, even shedding tears.

Being chosen by the Commander, having their paths cross in real life—it was an event that made him feel incredibly honored, to the point he wondered if he was dreaming.

The mission the Commander gave him was almost ridiculously simple: to once again modify this Duke of Wellington-class Sailing Battleship. The changes were minor, just simple things like removing all the electronic equipment on board.

Abdullah didn’t ask what the Commander intended to do with the Sail Warship. Since the Commander would be using it personally, it was, of course, the highest honor.

Therefore, after unleashing the power of his wealth and spending three days on major renovations to the Sail Warship, he was now excitedly awaiting the Commander’s inspection.

Just then, the custom, fully diamond-studded electronic watch on Abdullah’s wrist suddenly vibrated. The blood-red eyeball icon of the True Apocalypse Game flashed on the screen, followed by a line of text:

Withdraw.

His whole body trembled. He immediately whispered a few words to Hadi, who was standing beside him. The two men respectfully lowered their heads toward the Sail Warship, then, surrounded by a throng of bodyguards, they boarded a black stretch limousine and drove away from the dock.

The workers on the private dock and the sailors on the ship also evacuated swiftly, leaving only the Sail Warship standing silhouetted against the setting sun.

A few minutes after they had all departed, on the other side of the Sail Warship, a figure wearing a backpack slowly surfaced from beneath the waves.

Then, with a slight lift of his hand, black mechanical tentacles shot out from his backpack, gripping the hull of the Sail Warship and allowing him to ascend as if walking on level ground.

Soon, the man vaulted over the ship’s rail and landed softly on the deck. Wiping the water from his face, he revealed a countenance disguised by the Gray Tide. It was Shen Feng.

"I’ve checked via satellite; there’s no one around. The bio-detection device on the ship’s keel hasn’t picked up anyone hiding, either. The entire vessel is free of electronic signals, and there’s no surveillance equipment... Is that Big Beard really so timid he didn’t even dare to secretly spy on you? How boring." Jingwei’s voice echoed in Shen Feng’s mind. The AI was currently housed in the silicon-based framework on his chest.

Shen Feng ignored Jingwei’s wisecracks and began to carefully inspect the Sail Warship.

A wooden hull, encased in a titanium alloy exoskeleton, with other alloys reinforcing critical sections.

In the Age of Sail, this would have been an invincible warship. Solid cannonballs wouldn’t have been able to penetrate its hull.

Yet the cannons equipped on this warship were a far cry from those that fired solid iron balls; they were much more powerful than even the explosive shells of the rifled-cannon era.

They were autocannons and main guns taken from modern warships.

The significance of a hundred-year-old hull armed with modern weaponry was self-evident.

The vessel’s primary power source was its massive sails, allowing it to travel at high speed with a favorable wind.

It also had a Steam Engine, though this served mainly as auxiliary power for maneuvering in and out of port.

For the upcoming Water World Apocalypse mission, this vessel was the best vehicle and weapon Shen Feng could imagine.

After all, he couldn’t very well go over on a small wooden raft, drifting on an ocean with virtually no land. He could be adrift for years on end without ever meeting another soul.

He had already consulted his bracelet; by consolidating several of his previous rewards that allowed him to bring items into a mission world into a single use, he could now bring over one large item. It was quite convenient.

’This just goes to show how necessary it was to haggle with "True Apocalypse Game 0.0" back then.’

This Sail Warship, meticulously maintained and modified by Abdullah, would be his primary vehicle after he entered the Water World.

’Electronic items aren’t allowed, and an Internal Combustion Engine would be useless without fuel. Sails are the natural choice.’

After a thorough inspection confirmed there were no issues, Shen Feng nodded in satisfaction.

’Next, I should stock up on some more supplies to bring aboard.’

’I need to ask the bracelet what the energy limit is for crossing the Space Wormhole. I have to make every bit of it count...’

’Minus the travel time from Hua Country, I still have three days.’

Just as Shen Feng was thinking this, Jingwei’s urgent voice sounded again:

"Shen Feng, there’s activity at the Arctic Wormhole! That Exotic Giant Beast is back, and the Wormhole... it’s expanded to a one-thousand-meter diameter!"
